Trade Target #2 : Wilson Chandler
Height: 6' 8"
Weight: 225 lbs.
Season Stats: 16.0 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.0 apg.
Rudy Gay for half the price.
Wilson Chandler has been in the league for a while now and is quietly having one of the best seasons of his career this year. He is in his prime, a year younger than Rudy, and is having a career season playing as a power forward, which is not his natural position.
The Nuggets have also recently opened up the trade lines for Chandler, Danilo Galinari and one other player on the Nuggets. They are looking to trade this man. Which means, what we offer could be at a discount.
Chandler also gives us something that we desperately need on the team, a small forward who can score the basketball. I love Roberson and he should be a defensive player of the year candidate, but he needs a complimentary piece. Someone who can come in off the bench, or occasionally start a game depending on the situation and get buckets.
Now Chandler isn't the best player defensively, but he is adequate, and our overall team defense could hide his weaknesses. He also isn't the best 3 point shooter, shooting 34% from deep, but when given space, or when he is hot, he can drain them from downtown.
I'm not going to pretend he is Rudy Gay, because he isn't. But he is the next best thing to Rudy Gay for half of the price. We might be able to get him without losing Cameron Payne. We could offer Kyle Singler, Semaj Christon and maybe a 2019 first round draft pick and be on our way to the playoffs.
