Today was my sixth competition, the CANUSA Summer Open. It was the best yet. First of all, I'm thankful for @coach_adamcheck for always pushing me and knowing I can do it. And thanks to the whole @4starstrength team. I couldn't ask for a better group of people to have my back. @eschmaltz took videos for me because she's awesome. Finally, thanks to @theegeekcorner for letting me leave all the time, just to pick some heavy stuff a few times. I hit a 5 kg competition PR and a 1 kg lifetime PR on my snatch. As you may notice I was pretty jazzed. We've concentrated on that a lot since switching to a split snatch. It's clearly working. My clean and jerk was a competition PR in this weight class and I hit a 1 kg training PR (red for pushout). We changed up my jerk about two weeks ago. Time to hit that head on. Plus I weighed in at 70.5. So close to 69 kg. I'll be there for my next competition, whenever that is. And so so close to a body weight C&J, which is a huge goal of mine. With all the sweating we did I might have been down there by that lift. Hey everyone, being apart of Fit University has given me great access to readings that many fitness enthusiasts also many enjoy. One article that I read this week was called "How to Recover from an Injury and Not Go Crazy". I picked this article to talk about because 2 years ago around this time I tore my ACL and I was always facing the thought of re-tearing it constantly. I was affected by this injury many different ways and still to this day in the some areas. The article touches base on how author Ellen Slater (@myuncommoneveryday) felt post injury and went on with her life in fitness, while still having this injury. Ellen Slater also gives different ideas of what you should do while being injured. Ellen Slater presents a description of fear that many can relate to on becoming inactive and lazy. I can relate to that fear because when I went through my post surgery I did not want lay in bed. So what I did was I had my girlfriend at the time take me to the gym. At the gym I would work my upper body out. As I proceed to heal during my rehab, I would go through some of my Physical Therapy excises at the gym. 💊Supplement Sunday💊 🤔Do you even need supplements? . It's a big question that almost everyone ask at some point and always has two even sides. What's the real answer though❓ . The real answer is both yes and no. ⚔️It's a constant fight in the fitness world, but in reality it's pretty simple. . 🤓 If you get nerdy and look into the research then YES supplements can play a huge role in making some serious progress when used properly. ☑️ A study done on BCAA's found that a group utilizing intra workout BCAA's gained 9 pounds of muscle compared to a group using Gatorade that only gained 1 pound. . ❌ At the same time no you don't need supplements. Progress can be made without them, but you must accept that it can be a much slower path. . 🔎 At the end of the day it's up to you. Do you research, see what works, and decide what you want to invest your money in. It's a cost vs rewards situation ⚖️. . 💉Supplements do just that. They supplement your training. They do work, but they're not always necessary. It's always up to you just remember to keep an open mind. Fun little touch and go mock bench meet yesterday. Even tho I couldn't even do my 3rd attempt after a wicked hammy cramp on the 2nd and only got a measly 14 reps @ bodyweight, was still a lot of fun with the lads. Placing 2nd on bodyweight 1rm % and B.W rep out 140kg ✔️ 145kg ✔️ - B.W x 14 ✔️ Niklas won with a massive 107.5kg bench @ 68kg and 25 reps @ bodyweight!!
