Liam Hero WOD. U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Liam J. Nevins, 32, of Middlebury, Vermont, was killed by small arms fire while conducting combat operations in Paktia Province, Afghanistan, on Sept. 21, 2013. Nevins was assigned to Operational Detachment Alpha 9521, Bravo Company, 5th Bn., 19th Special Forces Group, based in Fort Carson, Colorado. His friends remember him as a cut above when it came to fitness. He enjoyed hiking and running outdoors, as well as the full gamut of CrossFit movements, from Olympic lifting to gymnastics. Thoughts as I head to bed... we are all so super critical of ourselves. I am no exception. But it's time to stop letting untrue thoughts rule us! It's time to work on reframing those thoughts. Let me backtrack...its NORMAL to be critical of ourselves, to overthink things and to have thoughts that are not always positive enter our heads. BUT it's WHAT YOU DO with those thoughts that will dictate the health of your mind, your body and your future. Example: Tonight, did #17point5 with friends. Didn't do the prescribed weight for the thrusters, did less. Because I know my limits. And I'm a small framed person. Even though I know my relative strength is great and I'm strong, I felt like a weakling tonight. I had a pity party in my own head that went something like this "I am never going to be as strong or as muscular (size wise) as others. I should be stronger with all my training but I feel like I'm going no where." Then I stopped myself. Next conversation in my own head went like this: "Jackie, you are lifting a shit ton for someone your size. You train hard almost everyday. You've set personal records in all your major lifts within the last couple months. Plus, you took a full month off of hard training in December bc of something personal. Rewind a year ago, remember how your heaviest weight back then and is now your warm up set!?! You're doing just fine, stay the course, you're kicking ass!" ...Maybe the conversations in your head go differently...but the point is this: as your thoughts come about, ask yourself, do these thoughts have any truth to them? If the answer is no, shut it down. Don't entertain them. That's my bedtime rambles. Thanks for playing. Hope I got a point across. Be kind to yourself and go kickass tomorrow. That's what I'm going to do.πŸ’•

First day back from spring break. My kids at school weren't terrible, but then I got stuck in traffic on the way home. Took me over an hour and a half. The last thing I wanted to do was workout, but I convinced myself to at least do something for barbell club. . All of my snatches turned into power snatches (but actually real power snatches for once). At least my clean & jerks felt pretty good! Backed off the heavy weight and decided to work on stamina today. Did 3 sets of 315 with a high bar positioning than usual. First set I got 6 and my right shoulder cramped. Second set my left shoulder cramped on my 3rd rep. And on my final set I widened my grip and repped out 8 without any problems at all. Depth was great. Back, hips and knees all felt strong. Remote client @thesweetnfit hitting a top set of 130/286 for 10 (supposed to be 8 but she was feeling good πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‚lol). Her hypertrophy cycle is going extremely well! Making huge strides in all of her lifts. Alicia is getting about 5 working sets in for main lift and about 45-60 reps per main lift per session! This is customized to her strengths and weaknesses! Big PR for @slach1 (74kg) yesterday! This is 182.5/403 for his top set. His previous 1rm is 180/396. This sets him up for a big day on April 15th. We have been working on 5 total working low bar sets each squat session ( 2 top sets and 3 drop sets). This seems to be working really well for him. Minimizing his elbow pain and incorporating a lot of high bar down sets (roughly another 3-6 sets). Totally squat volume for this peaking cycle has been 24-36 reps per squat session, with the last week having 10 reps per squat session. Looking for over 400 wilks. In house Coaching and remote coaching are available.
