When my mom comes to town I eat more breakfasts like this 😊 fried eggs and toast with bacon. That is my kind of morning. Breakfast has always been the toughest meal to. Get in for me. I love to sleep in and in the mornings I'm always in a rush to get to work because I sleep until the last possible moment. I need to be better about eating as soon as I get up because even when I do eat breakfast it's usually not until I get to work and my body is already upset with me by then. I need to start making breakfast my biggest meal of the day, keep working on my meal prep lunches and not eat as much for dinner. I'm starting to figure all of this out I just need to implement this into my life a little better. #Mi40Life - Mi40X - Phase 2 - Workout 6: Hamstrings/Quads --- This post is being written 2-3 hours post @ifbbbenpak Mi40X leg day smash with my mind and body being wreaked. If I sound uneducated and begin to slur my words during this post we'll just blame the workout for the confusion. Here are some exercises from this morning's session: --- β–ͺ️Leg Press (feet wide): 4 X 15 performed with 1 1/2 reps. Tension overload with only 40 seconds rest between each set. In order to target the quads more I applied upward intent on the platform while my foot placement was kept low and wide which allowed for a greater degree of knee flexion. --- β–ͺ️Reverse-banded Hack Squats. Only two sets needed here to put me on the floor. Final set was a NOS-X set. The video shows the first set of three consecutive drop sets that includes a loaded stretch after completion of the last achievable rep of each working set. Really needed a partner here to get the full benefit of loaded stretches, but I was able to use the sets productively by never falling out of my AROM while keeping constant tension on the workout muscle. --- β–ͺ️Lunges. At this point in the workout my energy stores were depleted and each leg felt like it weighed 200 pounds. The workout called for step-ups but I chose bodyweight lunges instead. 3 sets of 15 reps with each leg. --- Also included in the workout were Lying Leg Curls (body extended) and One Leg Leg Presses. If a leg workout doesn't leave you questioning what gym you're at, how old you are and if you're a male or a female then it's time to re-evaluate the time you spend ''training'' legs. Got a little mid-semester TCL done yesterday morning.😌 I have been experiencing a LOT of tension in the musculature of my back for the past several weeks. After trying just about everything I could think of to remedy the situation myself (foam rolling, lacrosse ball, stretching, chiropractor..) I finally decided to take the plunge & scheduled myself a cupping massage. Cupping therapy is said to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, increase energy, reduce anxiety, & promote relaxation. It rids the body of impurities & toxins to allow for accelerated healing. Rather than compressing the tissue, cupping uses suction to create negative pressure to release rigid soft tissue, loosen connective tissue & increase circulation to the affected area. The resulting bruising is minimal, normal & painless. I had been looking into & researching this type of massage for awhile. If you have ever been curious about massage & wanted to give yourself a little treat, I highly recommend it. This was my first time ever & I'm hooked! You shouldn't feel bad or guilty for investing in yourself.πŸ’• Yes; it takes time, money, effort, but with all of the activities we demand of our body day in & day out caring for it should be a top priority. This was honestly one of the most relaxing & soothing experiences I have had in my entire life.

My face when I realize how lost I got in my book and how much time passed by....oops. I woke up this morning with a big long list of things to try to accomplish today around here. No gymnastics meet this weekend or basketball games and this next week my schedule gets ever more crazy. I sat down to read for just ten minutes but clearly I needed it. I needed to sit in the complete silence, with a cup of coffee, curled up under the blanket and finish the book that was speaking to me in so many ways. As a mom I'm often always "GO, GO, GO," as I attack the daily list that I'm not often able to be truly still. So no, my house is not going to end up as clean as I was hoping I'd make it look today, perhaps the laundry won't all be put away, but my heart, my soul, just received a few messages it so desperately needed. Now, I take action. Now, I go push play. I'm already mentally + emotionally better today than I was yesterday. Now, I focus on the physical piece... but really, working out strengthens all three.

Another strike of genius from @thedavecastro in the Crossfit open 17.1 workout. As always he caused us to push our limits mentally. This time he used dumbbell snatches and burpee box overs to do that. After 20 minutes I'm made it through 31 snatches in the round of 40 snatches. Not my best work, but a helluva good time.
