So I started counting macros this week and the main reason for me to do so is simply because not all calories are measured equally (most of you know this already). I also wanted to be more mindful of the macro and micronutrients I consume. Also, I've read that proper manipulation of macros can help you reach your physique goals a lot faster than counting calories alone. Here's one day of food day all laid out with calories, fat, carbs and protein counted. As you can see, carbs can come not just starches and grains, but also from fruits and veggies!!! I used myfitnesspal to calculate these numbers and it was fairly simple. Total Calories: 1456 Macro Counts Protein: 127 g Carbs: 118 g Fat: 55 g In pic: 12 pm: 5 oz of oven chicken breast, raw red peppers, steamed bok choy with half an avocado. A green apple on the side. 4 pm: 2 boiled eggs, carrot sticks and steamed Chinese broccoli. 8 pm: Pan seared salmon (cooked daily) served with 9 oz of oven baked Japanese sweet potatoes and steamed rapini. Not in pic: 1/4 cup of 100% coconut cream (9.5 g of fat and 2g of carbs). I dip the sweet potatoes in this! So good! 1 scoop of BCAAs during workout (8g of protein) 1 TBSP of unflavored gelatin protein in hot water after dinner (11 g of protein) What about you? Have you ever counted macros and did you find it made a difference?

The moment you email the race coordinator, and ask to drop down from the full to the half, is a bit of a blow. I so wanted to do this spring marathon. But training has been shit with being injured and not quite recovering. I should be up to 18 this weekend. My longest has been 4 I think. I did one 6 before my plan started and then broke. And every single god damn run for the last 7 weeks has been painful. Maybe this is a good thing, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt. Between training and trying to raise money, I'm so stressed out. There are days I reeeeally wonder why I even do this. But I remember how much I do love it. When I'm on my game I feel invincible. Today's @trainerroad workout involved 6x20s sprints at 200%FTP with 5min rests in between. Quite refreshing to incorporate pure anaerobic work weekly and seeing the results.

Because nobody likes a guy with a good upper body but an ass like a pancake. I tend to work my glutes primarily through compound exercises such as squats, Bulgarian split squats, deadlifts and lunges.
