The different stages of my athletic life. I have always had an active lifestyle ever since a young age. I enjoyed playing all sports growing up. Growing up I ate whatever I wanted whenever I wanted and was a toothpick. It wasn't until I was in college that I found weightlifting and fell in love with being in the gym. After college I got really involved in CrossFit and living a healthy lifestyle overall. I love where I am in my fitness right now and can't wait to transform my body even more! Top picture was an incredibly unhappy me 3 years ago, below was when I first started to get properly in to the gym last year and the picture on the right is me today. Let's do a shout out to @jackarcher18 This guy is so dedicated to not only the gym but the diet itself. Having a fast metabolism is not always a plus. He has to range from 6,000-8,000 calories per day just for bulking. Definitely put size on since your show back in April. Keep it up man. Slow progress is better then no progress

Wanna know the secret to getting shredded? CARDIO... just kidding ๐Ÿ˜‰ Right I'm going to clear this up now as I get asked a lot and hear so much about why you need cardio to get LEAN! - So what do you need to lose weight? Well you need a caloric deficit, this can be done through calorie manipulation, increasing daily activity level and cardio. CARDIO IS NOT ESSENTIAL FOR FAT LOSS. - So many people start a "diet" with 7 days of fasted cardio a week in the hope they'll get lean quicker, which obviously they will. But it should be used as a TOOL not a necessity. - Just like bringing calories down it should be done slowly and added over a period of time. - We need to have TOOLS in our back pockets when things get tougher. If you start with an hour of cardio every morning for 7 days a week in 12-14 weeks time if you haven't got to where you want you'll need to add in more than you already do. - So use cardio as a tool, haven't lost any weight this week and don't want to drop food? Add in some cardio or increase your activity levels. Everyone gets lean differently some people need 30 mins of cardio a week where others may need 3/4 hours worth but don't chuck it in for the sake of it. - Also there is no specific time you need to do cardio just do it when convenient.

๐Ÿ”ตTestosterone(T) plays a vital role in hypertrophy due to its ability to stimulate protein synthesis (Griggs et al 1985). Itโ€™s important to maintain high T levels to continue gaining muscle mass and recover from oxidative stress (Fanaei et al 2014). Two minerals have been shown countless times to be correlated with free and total T levels, but which two?๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿ”ดBeing deficient in magnesium(Mg) can cause your T levels to drastically lower. Mg increases the bioavailability of T. Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) binds to free T, making it unavailable to the body. Mg inhibits SHBG and so increases free T in the blood. Cinar et al 2011, looked at Effects of Mg on T levels of athletes and sedentary subjects at rest and after exhaustion. After 4 weeks of supplementation of 10mg/kg of bodyweight they compared 3 groups. Group 1 were sedentary, but received Mg. Group 2 exercised and received Mg, and group 3 were active, but received no Mg. They found that both free and total T levels increased significantly in group 1 and 2, but this was not to be seen in group 3. Dietary sources include: spinach, kale, bananas, avocados, peanuts and brazil nuts. Dosage of roughly 200-400mg/day๐Ÿฅ‘ ๐Ÿ”ตZinc is another mineral many athletes can benefit from with supplementation. Zinc is evaporated with sweat and this evaporation is directly proportional to the intensity of the exercise (Tipton et al 1993). Zinc acts on the anterior pituitary gland to secrete Luteinizing Hormone, which stimulates T production. In high doses, Zinc acts as an aromatase inhibitor, which can block the conversion of T to estrogen. Kilic et al 2006, looked at the effect of exhaustion exercise on thyroid hormones and T levels of elite athletes receiving oral zinc. After 4 weeks at a dosage of .5-6mg/kg bodyweight, they found that exhaustion exercise led to a significant inhibition of both thyroid hormones and T concentrations, but that 4-week zinc supplementation prevented this inhibition. Dietary sources include: oysters, beans, chicken, cashews, chickpeas and almonds. Dosage of 15-30mg seems safe according to the literature๐Ÿ˜ฉ ๐Ÿ”ดSo, if you wanna naturally boost your T levels, get taking zinc and magnesium๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ at Dublin, Ireland

Chicken and sweet potato falafel saladโค๏ธ ~ Eating healthily doesn't mean cutting certain food groups out or not enjoying foods. I often hear people talking about how carb diets or extreme cuts and detoxes to get that 'summer bod' and this is honestly such a bad mentality which I feel is forced upon society from media campaigns ect . Carbs are such a good energy source and are needed to sustain everything you do..drinking some fit tea isn't going to make you lose fat for that holiday it will just make you poo loads and you'll look a bit less bloated for a few days. I used to believe carbs/sugars/ fats were the enemy and I felt so panicked to eat them. I would lose 5 lbs on my crash diets and just feel depressed and so tired. Don't restrict your body, fuel it with good quality foods and never feel you need to crash diet to match your short term goals. Morning weight is between 155-156lbs as of this last week . The weight is slowly but surely lowering and the fat gradually coming off . I haven't yet felt any effects to my strength levels in the gym but do feel quite drained on those days when I do cardio after my weight training . Although my cardio sessions are made much easier if I save the majority of my days carbs for my pre workout meal as this is when I need them the most . I'm nowhere near where I want my body fat to be and so consistency and commitment to this cut is the key right now . Excited to see what the next few weeks brings
