Sometimes we do crazy things in order to get that perfect shot πŸ“Έwe've been dreaming about...like staying in a cheap motel in the middle of nowhere, only to wake up at 3:15am ⌚️and drive 100 miles to catch the πŸŒ… and a solo shot at the famed #sevenmagicmountains just outside of #lasvegas Nevada with my trusty tripod. Throughout this entire journey there is one thing that has truely stood out for me, the children. Whether they are running behind us in an excited cluster, riding horses through the countryside or being thrust into our arms by their parents for a photo, they are all full of endless energy, curiosity and pure innocence. And at the same time I am being sent photos from Australia of my friends new born babies, who's parents can't hide the love they already have for these beautiful little humans. These children, like I did, have the simple gift of growing up knowing what it feels like to be cared for, to be held and to be loved. It has been a constant reminder for me out here of one of the reasons why we decided to walk across an entire desert, for the children. The ones that will never get to know comfort, or feel like they are safe. For the children who are forced to grow up before they should have to and who know nothing more than neglect and abuse. The NSPCC plays a huge part in making sure these children have somewhere to turn to. And, as we draw close to the end of our adventure I want to ask you to help us reach our goal of Β£30,000. Instead of the extra bottle of wine this weekend head over to our website Www.team-essence.com and donate whatever you are able to the NSPCC. No offer is too small when everyone pulls together.

Day 52 36km covered I was glad to hear my body wasn't the only one on its last legs when after waking up to wind thrashing our tents the boys both confirmed they to were shattered. The first 20km didn't really cater to that feeling, being thrown straight into deep river beds that might as well have been entire beaches, head winds that like brick walls and an undulating landscape that shouted, "You aren't done with the Gobi until the Gobi is done with you!" It was silly of us to think the next 5 days would be easy. By the long break I was a zombie, literally micro sleeping as I reversed my cart into a lush little oasis, a piece of paradise to rest. I rolled out my swag and within minutes of lying down I was drifting into oblivion, about to experience the deepest, most satisfying nap of my life. When I woke up for just a second thought I was back in Sydney, lying in my Nonnas backyard. I spent the next hour of stomping dazed and confused and thought I was imagining the enchanted looking trees that were popping up with each new bend. We have seen trees only once this whole trip and when I asked Orgil if there were any trees in Mongolia he replied confidently, "Yes look trees everywhere!" pointing to shrubs no higher than my knees. Our aim today was a village that sat safely within the hills. As we got nearer we saw huge wind turbines and solar panels catching natures energy and before I had eyes on I had created an image of Mongolias most progressive new age town. I was off the mark, but they were the only town in the Gobi who had figured out how to keep things cold, like actually cold, not the slightly less hot we have become accustomed to. We grabbed ice creams, Coke, beers and more to curb the cravings we'd been speaking about all trip long and sat outside the store in ice cold refreshing bliss.
