So despite topping out 4 of 5 qualification boulders, I didn't quite achieve the goal I worked for: making the Top 6 in my category. I ended up coming a frustrating 7th, but it was a great learning experience and I overall I am quite happy with how I climbed (note to self: don't get overexcited when getting to the top of the first slab problem - it'll cause you to lose your balance and fall off before the match). . And after the comp is before the comp - since I'm "only" climbing in Open B, I should still be able to go to Nationals! New program day #1 - AKA. HIIT Me With Your Best Shot. Today I started a new training regime which involves a sessions of cardiovascular fitness, plyometric training, and high intensity intervals. Now I'm not the biggesr fan of cardio, but it's hard to argue with all the research which shows just how important cardiovascular health is. So instead of sticking with the boring all run or cycle, I decided to hit some HIIT. [Keto Diet] This is something that is close to my heart but I want to write a short bit so everyone can have a full understanding of what is actually happening and if it’s the right diet for you or not. Keto = very low carb, moderate protein and high fat. People claim that the keto diet is responsible for them losing weight or feeling healthier. I can nearly guarantee that you didn’t lose weight just because you removed carbs. Carbs don’t make you fat! The only possible way you can lose weight is by creating an energy deficit. It’s a basic law of science that can’t be denied! In terms of energy balance 3000 calories of protein and fats is exactly the same as 3,000 of proteins, fats and carbs. There are medical benefits to keto such as helping regulating blood sugar levels and it also has mental health benefits but there is a very small percentage of people that a keto diet is optimal for! Around 85% of the population actually operate best on a moderate carb diet. Where I think people go wrong with feeling that keto is right for them is by misunderstanding what’s causing them a problem in the first place. They may either be getting the amount of carbs wrong or choosing the wrong source of carbs. Personally if I eat too many carbs I get drowsy and sluggish. This is because I’m super insulin sensitive so when I consume large volumes of carbs my pancreas produces an excess of insulin which then causes the essential amino acid β€˜tryptophan’ to move into the brain. Once in the brain it leads to increased serotonin and melatonin which are our β€˜feel good’ hormones and help regulate sleep. So when people say they have more energy from keto, it’s probably because before they were simply having too many carbs before. Digestion, if someone says they have better digestion from keto it could well be because they were eating carbs that their body couldn’t process or they were sensitive to. Carbs begin to be broke down in the mouth by amylase then broken down further in the digestive chain by enzymes. It could just be that they weren’t producing enough amylase or enzymes. ***Read the full post on our FB page***

It's our first proper day here at @oneworldretreats in Ubud & i am lost for words at how indescribably beautiful this place is🌿We enjoyed an amazing 2 hour yoga and meditation class over looking the jungle this morning, followed by a ayurvedic chakra dara massage (which is based on a holistic science that dates over 3000 years and was insane to say the least), delicious, fresh and vibrant vegan food; with another 2 hour yoga class tonight followed by a meditation and purification ritual in a sacred spring pool called Tirta EmpulπŸ™πŸ½Tomorrow starts the 24 hours of silence in attempt to reach a different level of consciousness and a better understanding of yourselfπŸŽ‹This place is so authentic & extraordinary it feels wrong to not be present & so I'll probably not be active online for the next week or so✌🏽adios for now & in the words of a true yogini, @namaste_bishes 🌞 at ONEWORLD retreats

Another lil snippet of a superset from this mornings workout!...This one includes possibly one of the most butchered movements in strength training...The kettlebell swing! πŸ”ͺπŸ˜‚ β€’ I have a massive kettlebell swing rant waayyyy down my page from back when I had maybe 8 followers...So I won't bang on about them too much here...But basically it's a hip hinge movement...Not some form of squat/front raise hybrid! I kinda like to think of throwing the kettlebell off my quads via snapping my glutes and abs together at the top of the movement...That might not be the best cue in the world...But whatever! β€’ Generate speed and power through creating tension in the right places and good things will happen, plus you'll stay safe! β€’ Second in line here is once again the stationary farmers walk...Or "march" I suppose, in this situation!
