June appeared in her first commercial film in 1952, and began to win leading roles, in British costume dramas such as "Fury at Smugglers' Bay" and "The Scarlet Blade". Her most famous movie role was the Forest Queen in "Tom Thumb". During the early 1960s, she was a regular on British television.

Ruan Lingyu (1910- 1935) was a promrnent Chinese film actress.
Ruan was born to a working class family in Shanghai. Her father died when she was young, and her mother brought her up working as a housemaid. In 1926, to help make ends meet, Ruan signed up for the well-known Mingxing Film Company and made her first film at the age of 16. Two years later, she was signed by Da Zhonghua Baihe Company, where she shot six more films. Her first big break came in "Spring Dream of an Old Capital" (1930), for the Lianhua Studio, which was a huge hit in China. This film made her a major film star.
In 1934 she played a prostitute bringing up a child in "The Goddess" which is often referred to as the pinnacle of Chinese cinema. Later the same year, Ruan made her greatest film, "New Women", based on the life of actress Ai Xia who had committed suicide that year.
Ruan Lingyu’s personal life was highly troubled. Her marriage to Zhang Damin, the son of her mother’s employer, ended in a split due to the gambling habit he acquired after his family disowned him. Shortly after leaving Zhang Damin, Ruan began an affair with a tea tycoon. Zhang sued Ruan for damages. The press quickly picked up on this scandal and set out to make Ruan's life a living hell. Today's tabloids are still still destroying lives.
Faced with her public issues and intense private problems, Ruan killed herself with an overdose of barbiturates, in Shanghai, at the age of 24. Her suicide note contained a line which says "gossip is a fearful thing" .
Recent researchers believe her crumbling relationship with her lover may have contributed to Ruan's suicide. He is believed to have physically abused her on the night of her suicide. Her funeral procession was 3 miles long, with three women committing suicide during the event. The New York TImes called it "the most spectacular funeral of the century". #ruanlingyu #chineseactress #tragicdeath

Little Barnes “Breezy” Eason, Jr. (1914-1921) was a child silent movie actor.
Breezy was the son of director Barnes Reaves Eason and actress Jimsy May. Eason Sr. put his son in films when he was barely able to walk. Known as the “Wonderchild of the Screen,” and “Universal’s Littlest Cowboy,” young Breezy grinned and laughed his way to screen fame at Universal Studios, appearing in a dozen films with such actors as Theda Bara, Thomas Meighan, Hoot Gibson, and Harry Carey. In the film, "Nine-Tenths of the Law" (1918), Breezy was directed by his father and appeared along side his mother and grandmother, Mollie Shafer. Breezy also had the chance to be the star of his own film, The Big Adventure (1921) – which was again directed by his father.
On Friday, October 21, 1921, Breezy, who had recently finished filming "The Fox" (1921) with Harry Carey, was playing like any six year-old at his home in Hollywood. At some point, Breezy ran out into the street in front of a truck; the driver was unable to avoid hitting him. The boy was taken to the hospital where surgeons worked to try and save his life. Actor Harry Carey, who was extremely fond of the little boy, rushed to the hospital and stayed by Breezy's side until he died of his injuries 4 days later.
Out of respect, Universal Studios shut down for the day of Breezy's funeral. He is buried at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Sweet Sidney Fox was an American stage and film actress. As a young model she began studying acting and contacting movie moguls asking for a film role. She was told to get some more training in "stock" theater and to come back when she was older. She joined a touring theater company and, within a year, had landed a role in a Broadway show.
Sidney made her film debut in the 1931 film "Bad Sister", with Humphrey Bogart. This film was followed by "Murders in the Rue Morgue" and "Don Quixote". Many other roles in many other films followed. Her last picture would be 1934's "Down to Their Last Yacht". Sidney was often in the tabloids, unfairly and incorrectly linked to Hollywood higher-ups who could further her career. She was also married to a man who drank heavily and, supposedly, abused her. She began suffering from depression as her career dried up.
On the evening of November 15, 1942, Sidney and her husband discussed going out to dinner with friends but decided to turn in early in anticipation of going to church the next morning. They retired to separate bedrooms. In the morning her husband went to wake her and found her dead. There was an empty prescription drug bottle on the nightstand. The coroner could not come to a conclusion as to whether her death was accidental or suicide.
Sidney was only 30 years old when she passed. In an interview with one of the popular movie magazines of the time, she reflected on her screen image: "My greatest cross is that my face and body don’t match my mind and soul. People expect me to be an ingénue, a baby doll, and they’re terribly disappointed when they find I’m not. At parties, I’ve seen men ask to be introduced to me, and I knew they thought I was attractive, but after talking to me a few minutes they’d turn away in dismay. Men, in Hollywood especially, don’t like intelligent

It was the first time that I have cast a player without previous screen experience in an important role. But, as soon as I saw Miss Burgess, I realized that she had the making of a strong and appealing screen personality." Strong praise, indeed.

Unfortunately, she was to live only one month after the premiere of the movie. She died in New York on April 25, 1920, during an operation for strangulation of the intestines. She had just signed a four-year contract that assured her of two million dollars in income during that time. She was only 21 years of age.

Ethereal Olive Thomas began her career as an illustrators' model in 1914, and moved on to the Ziegfeld Follies the following year. During her time as a Ziegfeld girl, she also appeared in the more risqué show, The Midnight Frolic. In 1916, she began a successful career in silent films and would appear in over twenty features over the course of her four-year film career. That year she also married actor Jack Pickford, the younger brother of silent film star Mary Pickford.
In September of 1920, Jack and Olive were in Paris on a second honeymoon. After a night of heavy partying they returned to their hotel. Olive couldn't sleep so sat up writing letters. Jack awoke and told her the light was bothering him and to turn it off. Olive did as she was told and returned to bed. Still not being able to sleep she got up to take a sleeping potion. Not wanting to upset Jack she reached for a bottle in the dark. She ended up consuming mercury bichloride, which Jack (who was a man about town) used to treat skin sores caused by syphilis.
Jack heard his wife scream and found her writhing in agony on the floor. He called for help then gave Olive 12-15 glasses of water, milk and butter to try and counteract the poison. By diluting the poison Jack inadvertently prolonged Olive's agony. She vomited repeatedly, which resulted in the caustic poison burning her vocal chords so that she could never tell what truly happened, and causing such severe chemical burns to her face, neck, and throat that a closed casket funeral would be necessary. Olive lingered for almost a week in agony, going blind and deaf before acute nephritis ended her suffering. She died on September 10, 1920. She was only 25 years old.
Although her death was ruled accidental, news of her hospitalization due to the poison and Olive's subsequent death were the subject of media speculation. Olive's death has been cited as one of the first heavily publicized Hollywood scandals.

Exquisite Allyn King, began her stage career began at an early age. By the time she was 15, she was performing in vaudeville as a singing comedian at New York’s Proctor’s Twenty-Third Street Theatre, and the following year as a comedian and dancer with Ziegfeld’s Top-O-The -Clock Review. She became a headliner in the Ziegfeld Follies in 1916 and would remain with Ziegfeld for five seasons before achieving a modicum of success on Broadway in the early 1920s. She appeared at least one silent film, The Fighting Blade (1923). In 1927, Allyn almost died after putting herself on a near starvation diet compounded with diet pills in an attempt to maintain the boyish figure in vogue at the time. She spent nearly two years recovering at a sanitarium before leaving to live with an aunt in New York City. Allyn’s desire to weigh some 20 to 30 pounds below her optimum weight was fueled by the following clause in her working contract: “It is expressly made a part of this agreement and is an essential part, therefore, that if at any time you should during the term of the said arrangement, increase in weight more than sixteen pounds or decrease in weight more than ten pounds or let the dimensions of any part of your figure vary more than one-half inch from the following, weight 115 pounds, neck 12 ½ inches, bust 34 inches, upper arm 11, lower arm 7 ½, waist 26, hips 34, thigh 18, calf 12, ankle 8 ½, then and in that event we shall have the right to cancel this contract upon giving you one week’s notice.” After she left the sanitarium to live with her aunt, she studied music with hopes of a possible career in radio.
On March 29, 1930, poor Allyn leapt from her aunt’s fifth story, New York City apartment to a courtyard below. She had left behind a note lamenting the fact that she would never return to Broadway. She survived the fall with broken limbs and fractured skull that her doctors were confident she could recover from. Though she was alert and seemed to be in good spirits, her condition deteriorated and she died of her injuries on March 31, 1930. She was 31 years old.

This lovely one is Marvel Rea. She was an American silent film actress best known for her work with Ford Sterling. She was one of Mack Sennett's "Bathing Beauties". Marvel was in more than 25 movies from 1917 through 1921.
On September 2, 1936, while she walking in Los Angeles, California, three young men offered to take Marvel to her home. When she refused, they attacked her, threw her into a truck, and drove her to a eucalyptus grove in South Los Angeles. She thrown to the ground, beaten and assaulted with glass bottles. She was then raped by each of the men in turn. Marvel was left by the men in a semiconscious state. It took her four hours to recover enough to get help.
The three attackers were apprehended, tried, and sentenced to prison terms of from one to fifty years. In 1939 the three men were released from prison on technicalities regarding their trials, after serving only three years.
Marvel never recovered from the emotional toll created by the attack and committed suicide by eating ant paste. She died on June 17, 1937 in Los Angeles. She was 36 years old.

I wish I could give this lovely lady an Oscar because she truly deserved one. Dear Florence Lawrence (January 2, 1890 – December 28, 1938) who was a Canadian-American stage performer and film actress. She is often referred to as "The First Movie Star", and was the first film actor to be named publicly. At the height of her fame in the 1910s, she was known as "The Biograph Girl" for work as one of the leading ladies in Biograph Studios motion pictures. She appeared in almost 300 films for various motion picture companies throughout her career.
In mid 1937, Florence was diagnosed with a disease that her doctor described as "a bone disease which produces anemia and depression". This was likely myelofibrosis, a rare bone marrow disease or agnogenic myeloid metaplasia, both of which were incurable at the time. As her health began to decline, she developed depression but attempted to keep working.
On the morning of December 28, 1938, Florence phoned the offices of M-G-M where she was to report to work that afternoon claiming that she was ill. Some time in the afternoon, Florence ingested cough syrup and ant paste at her home in West Hollywood. Accounts differ as to how Florence was discovered; some media accounts say her neighbor, Marian Menzer, heard her screams while others say that Florence called Menzer herself stating that she poisoned herself. Menzer called an ambulance and Florence was rushed to Beverly Hills Emergency Hospital. Doctors were unable to save her and she was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m. She left a suicide note in her home addressed to her housemate Bob Brinlow stating: "Dear Bob,
Call Dr. Wilson. I am tired. Hope this works. Good bye, my darling. They can't cure me, so let it go at that.
Lovingly, Florence - P.S. You've all been swell guys. Everything is yours."

Kay Laurell (1890-1927) who was an American stage and silent film actress and model. On January 31, 1927, she died in London at the age of 36. Her death was initially attributed to pneumonia. In 1930, the press discovered that she had actually died while giving birth to her first and only child. The child, a boy named Joseph K. Boyle, survived.
Before Kay died, she drew up a will leaving her property and personal effects to Joseph Whiteside Boyle (who was presumed to be the child's father) and named him the executor of her estate. She left her $100,000 estate to Boyle because she was unaware that her son, who was born out of wedlock, could legally inherit her assets. However, one month before her death, the Legitimacy Act 1926 was passed in England which allowed her son to inherit her estate. A similar law in New York (where Kay also had bank accounts and property) also allowed her son to inherit his mother's assets. Kay's mother died a month after she did, having never been told of her daughter's death. She left all her assets to Kay which, subsequently, went to the baby grandson she never knew about.

Beautiful Belinda Lee was an English actress, born in Budleigh Salterton, Devon. She was signed to a film contract in 1954 by the Rank Studios after being seen performing as a student of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She made her film debut opposite comedian Frankie Howerd in "The Runaway Bus". Typecast as a "sexy blonde" she was often compared, unfavorably, to the popular Diana Dors. Typical of these roles was a supporting part in the Benny Hill film "Who Done It?". She was married to photographer Cornel Lucas from 1954 until 1959. After their divorce she moved to Italy, where she continued playing voluptuous temptresses in Italian films. In 1961, Belinda died in a car accident near San Bernardino, California. She was only 25 years old. Her ashes are interred at Campo Cestio Cemetery in Italy.

Pretty Dorothy Seastrom was an American silent film actress. Her film career began in 1923 with the role of Eleanor Harmon in "The Call of the Canyon", directed by Victor Fleming. Later she acted under the direction of Cecil B. Demille. In the fall of 1925 she became ill. Her frail strength and a hard work regimen had left her a victim of tuberculosis. She was taken by her husband, Francis Corby, to a sanatorium in California to recuperate. In 1926, she returned to acting and appeared in her final film "It Must Be Love". She died of her tuberculosis in 1930 at the age of 26.
Interesting tidbit- Her widower Francis Corby wed a young script girl turned actress named Ellen Hansen in 1934. Ellen became Ellen Corby, fondly remembered as Gramma Walton on "The Waltons".

#Mood (Music) : ... I've wanted to download " #Heavy feat. #Kiiara" by #LinkinPark for several weeks now, but there was something about the track that didn't let me. There was no "clean" version. It seemed like a "downer." Time always got in the way. Having downloaded it just now, however, I think this long pause may have been the way I was meant to obtain this song. There is no clean version because despair isn't clean. It is supposed to be a downer because it's principal creator was down (sad) at the time. And time is not something man can control. Chester Bennington has now passed away. It's tragic - a suicide. He made a horrible choice not to hold on. He should have held on. If not for himself, then all of the people who will miss him greatly. I obviously did not know him, but I know music - I love music. So, what I'm going to do is the following: Pull out whatever positive legacy exists in "Heavy," the art that Bennington left behind for us to hear (as well as whatever cautionary intend that may exist in the lyrics). Listen to the subtle "lift" that Kiiara brings to the song with her brilliant vocals. And lastly, understand that the song is another contribution to a music career that was admirable - one that will endure 😎. #Music #LinkinPark #ChesterBennington #Legacy #Songs #Tracks #AlternativeRock #Rock #HipHop #LinkinParkSinger #Tragedy #TragicDeath #CelebrityDeath #RockStars #MusicianDeath #LinkinParkFrontman #FrontmanLinkinPark #CelebritySuicide
