⬇️FORM FIX - CABLE CHEST FLYS⬇️ . 🥇Going back into the gym for this one. . 💎 A fundamental exercise in every gym bro's arsenal. It also accounts for one third of all workouts. (People only do chest day/arm day/ab day, right?) . 🌵 Years ago, I stopped doing chest flys all together because not only did I not really feel my chest working, I also had elbow pain from my poor form. Flash forward, this variation of chest fly actually gives me some DOMs, which use to be uncommon for me. . 1️⃣ Elbows in bent position, in line with the cable so you aren't putting a torsion on your elbow joint. I like to have my arms parallel to the ground, I feel the contraction better. Try going a little lower or a little higher based on your own anatomic variance and position of comfort for your elbow and shoulder. . 2️⃣ I say this all the time, but watch the position of your wrist. At the bottom of the movement, make sure you're not flexing it up or moving it through the press. I see people use their wrists way too much to perform part the exercise, and all it does it take the tension off the muscle you're actually working. . 3️⃣ Press forward and squeeze the handles together at the end range. Try holding that position and flexing your chest for 1-2 seconds to really engage the pecs. . 👾Test it out. @Regrann from @iwannaburnfat - In last week's post on training volume, we've seen that more training is not always better [1]. In today's post, I'll give you some practical guidelines on how to determine your training volume. . A 2007 meta-analysis compiled the data of a multitude of training studies to provide evidence-based training recommendations. What they found is that training every muscle group 2-3x per week with ~30-60 repetitions per training session appears to produce the most favorable results [2]. . This comes down to a weekly training volume range of 60-180 reps per muscle group. This is a good starting volume range for most trainees. Whether you should be on the low- or high-end of this volume range will depend on your training age and the rep range used during exercise. . For example, experienced trainees generally need more volume than novice trainees to progress [3] and when high-rep training is used, more volume (total reps performed) is required to achieve similar muscle growth [4]. . As noted earlier, the weekly volume range of 60-180 reps per muscle group should be treated as a starting point.
