@Regrann from @alessio_bariviera - PNG: Huon Gulf. Got myself a situation here... 🙎🏼‍♂️"Please baby, please, ain't gonna look at your sister's bum ever again" 🙍🏽"Damn right George... and you ain't gonna see mine either !" ---------------------------------------------------- "Landscape fragmentation, insularitazion of species, small-population jeopardies, extinction, ecosystem decay. We are presently headed toward a future of soul-withering biological loneliness. And I foresee an obvious question arising in your minds: What can we do about it ? Well, results do not come without sacrifice. The number of children your produce, the number of miles you drive, the equal rights hindered but some religions, all have their impacts on jeopardized populations of other species and on the cohesiveness of ecosystems. Else, you might simply choose to despair, but that besided being fruitless it's also far less exciting than hope, however slim" The Song of the Dodo, David Quammen ---------------------------------------------------- #iucn #iucnredlist #matschiestreekangaroo #habitatloss #overhunting #sixthextinction #animalkingdom #cuteanimals #wildlifephotography #wildlife #papuanewguinea #yusconservation #wildernessculture #junglebook Photo by | @alessio_bariviera #Tiffieldtwins2 #regrann

Buck. Back in the deer folder. Still thinking about my animal encounters from the other day. I can't wait to go back and see them again. There is still some more in the folder which I will bring out over the next few days but looking back at the photographs I first started taking of deer to now has been a journey which I should be more aware of. Next time I get cross with myself or not getting the shot I will remember where I started and I can't wait to improve. www.facebook.com/rhianmaiphotography #visitwales #wildlifephotography #thewalescollective #Deer #Buck #Wildlife #DiscoverCymru #IgersCymru #IgersWales #Springwatch #DiscoverWales #WalesAdventure #Dinefwr #NationalTrust #NatuonalTrustWales @ntwales @thewalescollective @discovercymru @igerswales @igerscymru @nationaltrust @canon_photos @canonuk @natgeo @ntcarmarthenshire @visitwales @bbcspringwatch at NT Dinefwr

A Smooth-Coated Otter hauls its catch out of the sea off the island of Borneo, Malaysia. Otters and all the wildlife of Borneo are in big trouble as its forests have nearly been razed to plant palm oil plantations. Organizations like @nature_org are working hard to protect rainforest wildlife. Let’s help @nature_org stand up for nature—and inspire others—by entering the Nature Conservancy’s  What’s Your Nature? Photo Contest.

The Snowy Egret is a bird that is constantly on the move, running from place to place. With just a 50mm, it took about an hour of sneaking through the park to get the perfect side view I was looking for. #MyCanonStory @canonusa at Kissimmee, Florida

Barnaby the Friendly Ghost. Often feared due to its ghostly apperance, the Barn Owl (Tyto alba) does not actually bring bad luck or death to those who cast eyes upon it...I HOPE! This wive's tale might also have developed in part due to the owl's propensity to hunt in open areas, including cemeteries, or its shrill, blood-curdling screech. Regardless, just a cute little owl. In fact, these owls are incredible listeners, and so are excellent in relationships. Their sympathetic ear is also backed by a wonderful memory, as these predators will learn the types of sounds made by each type of prey, allowing them to determine the size and species of a rodent in total darkness. This captive specimen is being cared for by the Hawk Creek Wildlife Center. at Hawk Creek Wildlife Center Inc

A blue river damsel (Pseudagrion microcephalum) floats down a stream whilst perched on a floating leaf. Their presence in waterways is a good indication of a lack of pollution, though their dependence on a freshwater makes them particularly vulnerable to habitat damage. The Urban Elephant Seal (Part 3 of 3) People of all ages were on the beach every day to watch this once-in-a-lifetime event (at least once-in-a-lifetime for Vancouver). The urban seal was bigger than the Vancouver Canucks, the latest food truck debut and the newest fashion trend combined. Nature was hip in Vancouver. In fairness to the seal, I’m sure it would have preferred not to have been the latest rage for my hometown, especially while undergoing a process that requires the animal to fast for 25 days. But it was an exceptional learning opportunity. And not just for people experiencing their first taste of the Wild Kingdom. The elephant seal constantly would use its flippers to cover itself with sand. It became great fun trying to catch the moment on my camera, but I equally wondered why the seal was doing it. I learned from discussions with government officials on hand that elephant seals are sensitive to light while they’re molting (which stands to reason) and they use sand, essentially, as a form of sunscreen. I would have been happy spending every evening with the seal if I could have, but soon I was off to the next stop on my speaking tour and the seal was off to stops unknown. But the photos and experience of watching one of the world’s most impressive marine mammals – and certainly the most unique urban resident of Vancouver in recent memory – will stick with me for the rest of my life. - Simon at Vancouver, British Columbia

Darkling Beetle (Tenebrionidae, Cyrtosoma sp.) • There are an estimated 20,000 Darling Beetles worldwide. Most are omnivores, feeding on decaying plant matter, rotting wood, live plant matter, dead insects and fungi. Their larva are commonly referred to as meal worms and are often used as a food source for captive insectivores. As adults most species have chemical defenses to protect them from predators. Thanks to @jayswildlife for help with the ID, you as always, are the man! • #olympus #zuiko #em5mkii #m43 #microfourthirds#beetle #coleoptera #insect #bug #wildlife #nature #pnw #pacificnorthwest #oregon#macro #macrophotography #wildlifephotography #photography at Drake Bay, Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica

Sometimes the traffic jams in Africa are caused by four legged traffic! Here a beautiful elephant is causing a jam on one of the main arterial roads in the Kruger National Park. There is often fierce debate about these tarred roads in the park between those who hate them and those who love them. Our opinion is that they provide a great way for some to experience Africa's amazing wildlife, who might not otherwise have been able to afford to do so. #instadaily #picoftheday #safari #safarilife #safariinstyle #wildlifesafari #wildlife #natgeo #nature #naturephotography #wildlifephotography #animalkingdom #animals #wanderlust #africa #southafrica #kruger #krugernationalpark #mpumalanga #elephant #trafficjam #big5 #elephants #adventure #adventuretime #adventureisoutthere at Kruger Park
