Glen Davis says Ray Allen should be invited to 2008 champion Celtics reunion In Davis’ view, Allen should be invited. The same was said by Boston president Danny Ainge and former coach Doc Rivers. This, of course, follows Rajon Rondo saying that a vacation was in the works and he and other veterans had decided that Allen wouldn’t be welcome because he left for the Miami Heat in the summer of 2012. “Yes, Ray should be invited to the reunion,” Davis said. “He was a big part of that team. You think about situations -- Ray got us out of a lot of situations. Yeah, you should invite the man. I would love to see Ray. I haven’t seen him in a long time.” Davis said that Ainge or Rivers should have addressed the disconnect between Rondo and Allen while the two were still teammates. Davis’ opinion matters because it shows a divide over whether or not Allen should be included. When Rondo initially told The Undefeated’s Marc Spears about all this, he said that he “reached out to a couple of other vets and asked them what they wanted to do with the situation” and they said Allen shouldn’t be a part of it. Another Celtics player was quoted anonymously saying, “I mean, Ray left. He left to the enemy.” Leon Powe, however, went on record saying that he was surprised to find out Allen wasn’t invited and he would prefer that Allen was there. The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn also quoted Pierce saying he’s “over it” and would pick up the phone if Allen called. Clearly, the entire team is not holding onto the grudge almost five years later. Maybe there’s a chance someone like Davis, Powe or Pierce can be a peacemaker.

Brad Stevens says he loves Indiana but plans to stay with the Celtics When Indiana announced Thursday it had fired head basketball coach Tom Crean, one dream candidate leapt to mind for many Hoosiers fans: Brad Stevens. But on Friday, Stevens—who grew up in Indiana and coached Butler before being hired by the Boston Celtics in 2013—denied that he was interested in the job. “I grew up in that state, I spent a lot of time down there, and I love the state of Indiana and what basketball means in that state,” Stevens said. “But again, I’ll be here [with the Celtics].”

MARCUS SMART ON DISAGREEMENT WITH JAYLEN BROWN: 'EVERYTHING'S COOL' That same approach applies to player-on-player tiffs like the one between Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown in the fourth quarter of Boston’s 117-104 win over Minnesota on Wednesday night. The two got into a very public shouting match with veteran Jae Crowder playing the role of mediator in separating the two. Ahead of tonight’s game against the Nets in Brooklyn, both players shrugged off the incident as not being that big a deal. “It was two passionate guys, at the end of the day, want to win,” Brown told CSN’s Abby Chin Friday morning. “It was nothing, really. Just came out, we got a win [against Minnesota] and we’re going to get a win tonight.” Smart added, “We had different views on things, like any other team. And you know it's over with and it's on to the next one.” When asked about what the disagreement was about, Smart said, “That was between me and Jaylen. Nothing that was life threatening, or something like everybody's blowing it up to be. It was just two guys, every team everybody argues. That's just how it is. It's like when you have a brother or sister, you argue. That's how it is. You move on from it before you make it a bigger deal than it is.” This wasn’t the first time Celtics players had disagreed with one another resulting in a back-and-forth shooting match, but it was rare to see it happen publicly. “It happens all the time,” Crowder told reporters on Friday. “Just got a little chippy on the court with professionals. We handled it like we’re supposed to in the locker room, addressed it and that was it.” Crowder added, “You've got to be a professional. Stuff like that happens all the time. But you have to move onto the next play. We've got good guys who can help those guys get to the next play. We just came in the locker room. Squashed it and let those guys get it out and move on.”

Guerschon Yabusele, selected by the Celtics with the 16th overall pick in last June’s NBA draft, will watch tonight’s game after arriving in the States earlier this week following the completion of his season in the Chinese Basketball Association. The Celtics could certainly use another banger around the paint, but the plan for Yabusele begins with evaluating the status of his recently sprained ankle. Austin Ainge, Boston’s director of player personnel, said Yabusele will be evaluated by the team’s medical staff this week. If that goes well, Yabusele will play with the Celtics’ Gatorade League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws. “We’re hoping to get him a few games with the Red Claws,” Ainge told CSNNE.com. “Get him some experience in the D-league and Summer League.” As far as his ankle injury is concerned, Yabusele doesn’t think it’ll keep him from playing with the Red Claws. “It feels good,” he told CSNNE.com following the Celtics’ pregame shoot around. “I’m here to see the doctors. Right now, I don’t feel the pain anymore.” In 43 games (4 starts) with the Shanghai Sharks, Yabusele averaged 20.9 points and 9.4 rebounds while shooting 52.7 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from 3-point range. “It was pretty good. It was a challenge for me, being over there as a young player,” said Yabusele, 21. “It was a great experience for me to go over there. I learned a lot about playing basketball, being a pro when you are not in your city. We had a great season. We lost first round of the playoffs, but I am more [confident] as a player; it was good. My game is better than it was before.” And that was exactly what the Celtics were hoping he would come away with during his time with the Shanghai Sharks. If he’s cleared by the Celts to play for the Red Claws, Yabusele said his goals are pretty straightforward. “Just help the team, learn the set plays, be around the guys . . . have good chemistry for next year and just be ready to play,” he said. The Celtics plan to have both Yabusele and their other first-round pick from last year, Ante Zizic, in training camp next season.
