Here we see a honeybee (Apis mellifera) mid-flight. These insects can fly at almost 15 miles per hour and get their well-known buzzing sound from beating their wings about 12,000 times per minute. To make one pond of honey, bees will have to visit 2 million flowers! The work these bees do is extremely important as this species is responsible for the pollination of almost 80% of all crops in the United States such as apples, cucumbers, blueberries, and more! #honeybee #pollinators #upperdelaware #findyourpark
