September 8, 1998. Musician Everlast releases his second solo album, Whitey Ford Sings the Blues. Everlast's first album, released in 1990, was a commercial disappointment. He went on to form the hip-hop trio House of Pain in 1992. When House of Pain broke up, Everlast returned to a solo career. He underwent open-heart surgery during the album's recording, which resulted in more serious and introspective lyrics. Critics praised his blend of hip-hop, blues and rock. It produced the hit single "What it's Like", a song which encouraged empathy for the less fortunate. #everlast #whiteyfordsingstheblues #whiteyford #houseofpain #hiphop #blues #whatitslike #september8
