So. A little honesty & openness today on why I've been so down lately, going through countless depressive episodes...
.
For close to a year now, my husband and I have been trying to have a child. Unfortunately, we recently found out I likely have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). This ultimately means it's extremely difficult, if not completely impossible, for me to conceive a child.
.
PCOS is something I'd been suspicious of for years, but was brushed off by three different doctors when I mentioned it, simply because basic labwork was normal, and I appeared healthy. I never pushed for further testing until recently.
.
Our hearts are heavy with this news, as we were hopeful and excited to start a family, but it may take years to succeed, if at all. We do feel a mild sense of relief knowing why I've had two miscarriages in the last year & why we are having such a difficult time, but also feel a strong sense of defeat & frustration.
.
This has been by far the hardest thing for me to handle mentally this far in my life, but I'm thankful for the strong family support system we have.
.
The light at the end of the tunnel is that the excessive depression, anxiety, and food addiction/weight problems are likely related to PCOS. By getting things under control with my PCOS, there's a good chance my mental and physical health will improve.
.
Here's to trying to keep our spirits up, and to allowing ourselves to reach out for more support during this difficult time. ❤️

@natasha.rosq So sorry it took your friend so long; unfortunately PCOS has been not well studied, and has just more recently become "easier" to diagnose... your friend sounds similar to me, except I do display some symptoms, and many of my other ones I have mentioned to doctors have been ignored until now. We are trying to stay hopeful; thank you for the words of encouragement! ❤️❤️

My husband and I tried for 6 years, naturally and IVF- two miscarriages. Then to be told I had no eggs left because of early menopause. All I can tell you is ,support each other because as much as we have the need to give birth there are so many other ways to become parents. Stay strong and enjoy what you have. 😘

So sorry to hear about your struggles. I wish you all the health and happiness though and I am certain that in due time you will get everything you hope for💜 Thank you for being so open and honest about it all. It must be really difficult in dealing with all of this but your willingness to share this personal story is also something that helps me, and probably others, with feeling less alone in the daily struggle with depression and other health issues. So thank you again and I wish you and your husband the best. Sending you lots of virtual hugs❤❤

You are so brave for sharing your story, the issue of mental illness aswell as PCOS and other 'female' illnesses needs to be put in the spotlight. I do hope you'll feel a lot better soon and that everything will work out exactly like you wish it to ❤️

I'm so sorry that you've gone through all that pain! I have PCOS, too. I was (and am) brushed off by doctors and just prescribed medication for no reason. They take my blood work and everything comes back normal but I'm overweight (and can't seem to lose weight), haven't had a period in 4-5 months, and struggle with depression. I am so thankful for my husband - I couldn't get through each day without him. It's by no means easy but just know that you are not alone! There are others that understand - even if only a little. Thank you for sharing your heart!!
