Thanks to the world's greatest Alex Gordon supercollector @ian.badeer I was able to acquire this piece of collecting history. The infamous 2006 Topps Alex Gordon rookie card that was searched for and destroyed by Topps after its accidental release. #topps #errorcard #kc #royals #kansascity #collect #thehobby #mlb
Quality control wasn't on their gsme that day.
@mcmurraycollector_1 no they were not
Is this real or are you just kidding? lol @hippcardskc
Reminds me of error coins and bills that are so bad it's like... how the hell did that even leave the factory?
@ricebonito good question...
@baseball_collector_dude haha yes it's real he had not yet been on the 25-man roster when the card was printed which was a ********* of players *********** rules I believe
@hippcardskc wow man! I never knew anything about this card haha. That’s really awesome that you were able to find one 👍👍
@baseball_collector_dude thanks man!
How much is this worth?
So they cut the center out, but yet still released them into packs? So confused...
@carolina_collector24 no the regular card was released without the center cut out (it's more rare than this one) but Topps did their best to get the cards back and manipulate them.
@hippcardskc so is this from their offices or something?
For those looking for more information on this card: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/2014/10/29/7083881/the-time-topps-went-after-alex-gordon-with-razors
@carolina_collector24 no these cards surfaced despite Topps efforts to keep them out of the hands of collectors
I remember I pulled one out of a pack I end up selling it for$ 500 back then.. when supposedly he was going to be a hot rookie
I thought this was a joke at first.. This is super cool. Nice!
I just looked this up. What a cool thing
I thought it was a ******* glove relic or something at first glance lol
