God has blessed my husband and I with 3 incredible girls. We are raising them in a time where selfies, snapchat filters, and instagram likes are a norm, a part of life, some right of passage into teenage-hood (is that a word? you get my point). ♥️ Frankly, and honestly, I’m scared. I’m truly, truly scared for our girls. Not just mine, but girls all over the world. I would hate for them to evaluate their worth and value based on their appearance or their worldly possessions. Or worse yet, some standard set by a man. So my message is for the girls, just as much as it is for the boys. The men. ♥️ I want my girls, your girls, OUR girls, to BELIEVE that they are inherently beautiful, period. Their beauty is not contingent upon a symmetrical face, or a small nose, or a number on a scale. Their beauty is not dictated by men. Their beauty is not dictated by (the unrealistic, and damaging) magazine covers. Their beauty is not measured through others’ eyes. It is already in them. ♥️ I want them to TRUST that true and lasting beauty lies within their miraculous being. I am not dismissing outward beauty. God is Beautiful and He loves Beauty (Sahih Muslim). To neglect that altogether is not what I’m advocating for. I’m just saying that there is ENOUGH (way too much) emphasis and attention given to the outside, that we MUST look and focus on the inward. ♥️ I want our girls to SEE beauty in their hearts, so that they can see it in others. I want our girls to FEEL beautiful, just because they are being THEMSELVES, and for no one else. ♥️ I want them to connect with true beauty, because then, they will be able to see it all around them. In the mountains, in the sunrises, and the sunsets. In the bird’s song, the blue sky, and the green trees. In the person holding the door open for them, in the mother looking after her child, in the friend comforting her distressed friend. Most importantly, I want each of my daughters to see the beauty in God’s love for her. To my girls, your girls, to all our girls. You are already perfectly you. You are already beautiful. You are already worthy. You are already strong. You are a miracle. #cmwartmonday #creativemuslimwomen #goodtypetuesday

Abu Hurairah (radhiAllahu anhu) narrated: the Messenger of Allah (sallaAllahu alayhe wasallam) said, “Allah does not look at your figures, nor at your attire but He looks at your hearts [and deeds].” [Muslim]

This is so well said masha’Allah! You captured the fear, the hope, the struggle that all of us as women and mothers of girls feel on a daily basis. Thank you for this, this is gold. 💕
