Fun fact...or not so fun fact:
When Kitana turned 1, we were going through such rough financial times that we couldn’t buy her a birthday cake.
Another fact: I was dealing with Post-Partum Depression #ppd and my husband was juggling all financial, household and kid duties, while trying to understand this seemingly crazy person that inhabited his wife. At the time, none of our friends knew this.
We somehow managed to weather through those struggles. Fast forward to today. What grew from those trying times continues to evolve into something more beautiful each day. Disclaimer: do not read “beautiful” as “perfect”.
Our circumstances today are different but this is not to paint a picture of a now perfect family. We’re far from that and we have a lifetime of lessons to go.
What I want to share is that our struggles forced us to evolve together into better beings. It also magnified all the things worth celebrating.
I will never forget that missed 1st birthday cake, the cake that had taught us to celebrate even the simplest shared milkshake. 🙏🏽 #grateful

That’s what happens when you learn to fight for each other instead of one another. So happy for you, your family and esp, Kitana.
It’s always better to work your way up from nothing then having everything and working your down! As a team (marriage) you appreciate the little things in life and each other. Through hard work, dedication, love and understanding anything is possible. The journey never ends! OSS
Thank you for sharing. It’s a beautiful story. We always gotta be thankful for what we have and not take life for granted. The struggles teach us to fight for each other instead of one another.
Sometimes ************* can make things so special. I'm sure you'll always remember when you have milkshakes the hard times that you struggled with and that you made it through as a family. Those struggles really do develop you into a stronger family unit.
Life gives us lessons that we never expect or want to receive. I’m happy that you and your family were able to overcome this time in your lives. It’s a great example of figuring life out together❤️
Amazing how life changes and we grow over time. And when we look back at those hard times, we can see and celebrate how far we’ve come. Cheers to you all!
Life experiences make us so much stronger and value what’s important—family. The sacrifices you’ve made for the memories you’re creating are ********** 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Love your outlook and love you!❤️🙌🏽😊

We learn so much from moments like these! Hubby and I have also had this issue and it’s really helped me to focus more on what’s important. I think I may have lost my way then.
