I want to talk about our monkey minds.
If you’ve ever meditated or simply just tried to slow down and calm your mind, you’ll know about that part of your mind that just keeps talking and wants to be constantly stimulated.
Many people find this to be a reason why they feel they just aren’t cut out for meditation, based off of misinformation around meditation and how it supposedly must mean you have to stop thinking in order to meditate.
But this is not at all the case.
Yes, meditation can lead to an extremely slow thought process and awakened states of being, and it’s definitely something to drive for, but.
Meditation is about training that monkey mind of yours and giving it a job.
For me, that is either counting my breathe and being extremely aware of my body, visualization/feeling or mantras.
Lately I have been focusing mainly through mantras, but the past couple of days have been through feeling the emotions associated with having the things I want to bring into my life.
Training your monkey mind is a massive tip for people starting out in meditation. It detaches you from your thought patterns and leaves you only with yourself.
