I took this picture 3 weeks ago standing on top of Table Cape, I needed a minute to collect my thoughts. I’d just been rushed to Burnie for an urgent mammogram & ultrasound (my city was booked out) after experiencing an unusual pain in my breast. They told me they were 90% certain it was cancer and I’d need to be rushed back for an urgent biopsy (11 in total). Then I got the diagnosis.........Grade 3, Triple Negative, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.......a big long name for aggressive breast cancer. All this after a shooting pain that left as fast as it came but I thought I’d be safe and get checked out anyway. I haven’t long turned 40 and hadn’t had my first mammogram yet. Ive always done regular self breast checks. I’ll be gearing up for a double mastectomy before Christmas followed by a 2020 full of chemo to evict this f**ker and make sure it doesn’t come back. This isn’t fair and I still can’t believe it as I’m writing it out, but I feel strong, have an amazing medical team, and the best of the best by my side.....we got this 💪🏻👊🏻 And ladies (and gents) this is a reminder to check any breast change no matter how big or small and no matter your age, you don’t always necessarily feel a lump. It could save your life 💗 #breastcancer #breastcanceraustralia #breastcancerawareness #triplenegative
