Looks like I'm singing but really I was just giving an introduction about my dance group's performance❤️ Blessed to have my parents, my girls and your support in this life🙏🏼 P.s it was the first time I stepped on Evergreen stage after seven years of performing , and didn't dance! I feel like I grew up on this stage , presenting more than 13 different kinds of work/art. Thankful for you Dear Masoud Esmailzadeh for all the Sokhan Eshgh (Love speaks) and Dear Hamid Zargarzadeh @perfectshotstudiocanada for all the photos you have taken of me in the past 7years I've been in Canada! Sammy Chien's 2015 collaboration with Starr Muranko/Raven Spirit Dance is having a remount of the work Spine of the Mother as part of Earth Song presented by New Works. More chance to see his deeply slow-morphing-abstracted-image projections of the mother earth and cosmos integrated with Starr's choreographic embodiment of indigeneity, spirituality and the beautifully profound feminine qualites in relationship to the land. DANCE ALLSORTS: RAVEN SPIRIT DANCE April 20, 2018, 7 p.m., Evergreen Cultural Centre, Coquitlam April 21, 2018, 8 p.m., Presentation House, North Vancouver April 22, 2018, 2 p.m., Roundhouse Community Arts Centre, Vancouver Tickets: Pay what you can at the door. Earth Song is a mixed program of contemporary Aboriginal dance, featuring choreography by Starr Muranko and Michelle Olson. Two visionary choreographers bring their diverse voices to the act of connection. Moving from Spirit to form through currents of spatial tension, these are the songs of the land and body, deeply rooted and ever reaching. Starr Muranko’s Spine of the Mother and Michelle Olson’s Northern Journey traverse territories of impulse, memory, and landscape. Additionally, the program includes the solo, Frost Exploding Trees Moon, choreographed by Michelle Olson; this piece follows the breath, instinct and impulse of a woman on her northern trap line. we respectfully acknowledges that this event takes place on the ancestral, and unceded Indigenous territories of the ʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations. Choreographer: Starr Muranko with performers Tasha Faye Evans & Sarah Formosa Projection Design: Sammy Chien in collaboration with the team Lights by John Carter Dramaturge: Alvin Erasga Tolentino Additional Dramaturgy: Alejandro Ronceria Cultural Advisor: Jhaimy Alvarez-Acosta Sound design: Edgardo Moreno Costumes: Ines Ortner #‎StarrMuranko #‎RavenSpiritDance #‎SpineoftheMother #‎Sammychien #‎peru #‎shamanism #‎spiritual #‎indigenous #‎mothernature #‎contemporarydance #‎feminism @soar55 @newworks_dance @ravenspiritdance @sarah_formosa @tashafayevans

Come join us for our new sermon series: Behold - starting TODAY!! (10am at the Evergreen Cultural Centre) The Apostle Paul made a shocking declaration to the Corinthian Church - God’s plan was for each and every one of them to BECOME LIKE JESUS! It would still be their uniquely created life of course - but with their self-centredness replaced with the unconditional love of Jesus; and their sadness replaced with the irrepressible joy of Jesus; and their anxiety replaced with the unshakeable peace of Jesus! Even more shocking was how this transformation was to take place. Not through striving or self-righteousness or perfect religious performance; but simply through BEHOLDING. In 2 Corinthians 3:18, Paul wrote that as we behold Jesus we will become like Jesus! It sounds vague and surreal. It sounds too good to be true. But it is. BEHOLDING is the key to the life we were created for. In this sermon series we will explore what it means to BEHOLD and how we become like Jesus through it.

Gailan Ngan has taken her previous exhibition of ceramic sculptures to another level of quirky vignettes in her installation at Art Gallery at Evergreen, closing this weekend. It’s remarkable that she can take a sensitive material like clay through such a rigorous physical process and have it survive brilliantly (and colourfully). @gailanngan #artgalleryatevergreen
