Wonderful evening at last night’s #EEBAFTAs. Thanks for having me and what an honour presenting an award! Thanks also to @diorhomme.

The Duke & Duchess are attending one of the most glamorous events of the year, the 71st British Academy of Film & Television Arts ceremony (BAFTAs), tonight at the Royal Albert Hall, to honour the best national and foreign films of 2017. They were met by BAFTA chief executive Amanda Berry, who showed the royals to their seats. Actress Joanna Lumley hosted the awards after Stephen Fry stepped away from the role after 12 years. The Duke of Cambridge, president of the BAFTAs since 2010, was on presenting duties, handing out the prestigious Fellowship award to Sir Ridley Scott. The Fellowship is the highest accolade bestowed by the Academy to an individual in recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, television or games. The Duke & Duchess have attended together twice previously: back in 2011 while they were in Hollywood at the conclusion of their Canada and Los Angeles royal tour, and last year in London. BAFTA is a world-leading independent arts charity that brings the very best work in film, games and television to public attention and supports the growth of creative talent in the UK and internationally. Attendees of this year's ceremony are wearing black to the event in support of the anti-harassment Time's Up campaign and #MeToo movement. You may have seen that this was also been the case at the Golden Globes last month. There was some discussion as to whether The Duchess would adhere to the dress code, considering that as a royal she is not meant to make any kind of political statement or anything that could be construed as a political statement, while at the same time she does not want to create controversy by wearing a bright colour. Kate is receiving criticism for not wearing black, but I feel her choice was a happy medium and still respects the campaign. She is there representing the Queen at the end of the day – she's not an actress – so I certainly wouldn't read her not wearing full-on black like the Hollywood celebs as her not caring about the movement. It would have been a tricky position for her to be in, but I personally think she and the team behind her chose well (although I know many will disagree, which is fine 😊).

The Duchess looked ever-so glamorous in a deep green Jenny Packham gown for tonight's BAFTA ceremony, with a subtle nod to the Time's Up campaign. Kate's custom-made gown is not unlike her ink blue Jenny Packham gown (third slide) she has worn three times over the years, with the wide v-neck, flowing fabric and a black sash. You might remember her emerald earrings and bracelet; she wore those in New York back in 2014 with her ink Jenny Packham gown. It appears as though she has detached the bottom portion of the large dangle earrings for tonight. Her necklace is perhaps part of the suite, speculated to have been a wedding gift. As well as the black sash/ribbon around the waist, Kate chose to carry her black Mascaro clutch and her Prada suede cutout wavy pumps ($750). It was probably one of the trickiest outfit choices ever for Kate. It was a choice between being accused of overstepping her position or being the only woman wearing colour. I imagine she and her palace aides saw this as a compromise. ————— Last year, Kate wore an off-the-shoulder black Alexander McQueen gown with floral details (would have also worked nicely tonight), and back in 2011 when she and William attended the ceremony in Hollywood, she wore a lavender McQueen gown (swipe left to see). What has been your favourite BAFTAs gown?

Thank you @bafta for an incredible and inspiring evening 💫 #eebaftas #timesup

Biala’s favorite thing to do is to paint her grumpy inner-self over and over again. 🖐🏿 3 on 1.5 m canvas. It’s somewhere is Portugal.
