Timber Rattlesnakes are one of the many snakes that call the Delaware River home. They are also highly venomous so if you spot one keep a distance. They're common around tall grass and shorelines. #SafetySunday

Oh deer

Pioneer Trek: Where we dress up like Mormon pioneers, pack our luggage for 3 days of camping in a bucket, lug a heavy handcart up hills for 12 miles filled with 8 buckets, and ache through unideal weather and terrain. Now imagine 3000 miles, leaving a majority of your possessions behind, great family loss, harrowing hunger pains, and heavy snowstorm. Now that is what the Mormon Pioneers willingly went through for sake of reaching a place where they would receive exhalation and safety and happiness. This trek was so so so physically and emotionally straining for me, but even more so spiritually empowering. The Saints' straight steadfastness inspires me to be steadfast in the gospel, despite life's unideal situations and rough terrain. I know the family is truly of God, and I know the Saints' and any pioneering ancestor mormon or not pushed heavy loads despite opposition so that we could have the knowledge and strength to push our own carts on our own treks. Step after step, I know God sends each of us His power. I testify that Christ lives and that He was there on trek with us and is still ever with us. I also testify that this church is true and has given me no measurable joy and will continue to do so. These things I can confidently testify in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. #Stringhamfam

Hiking with @riparianlife

Spring time hike

I went in search of mushrooms but my senses did not cooperate.

Happening now! Perfectly grey and cool fall afternoon for mushroom foraging with @fishandbicycleny. Here is naturalist Nathaniel Whitmore's mushroom lineup to prep us for gathering and identifying families, qualities, what to eat...and what not to eat. #rishi #seer #observing #fall #mothernatureisqueenseductress #smell #touch #taste #funghi #mushrooms

Still not over the Boy Scout museum. (Or the millions of 70s-era mugs we found there.)

At the end of a lonnnnnng weekend, finally some time at the river. #delawareriver #tusten #narrowsburg
