Did my first HIIT workout in a LONG time tonight after working my shoulders and chest. Helloooooo, struggle bus. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜…. 15- single leg knee ups w/ a twist each leg. 30- prisoner squats. 50- up and over side taps. (25 each leg) 10- jump to burpee. 50- toe taps. Rest 15 seconds in between each exercise, do three times total. @whitneyysimmons made it look easy and graceful. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿ˜ต I want to die. #HIIT #CardioIsHardio #Fitness #GoalsGoalsGoals

First day back in the gym in almost a month. What most people who follow me here don't know is that I've been training through this entire year with chronic pain in multiple areas. Doing 3 shows this year and training at a calorie deficit for more than a year and a half has taken its toll on my body. Back issues, neck issues, turf toe, knee (the good one), a balled up hamstring, shoulder impingement issues, and most recently a nasty nerve pain in my forearm. In order to hit his bulking period in better health and alleviate some of the pain, I've taken the last 4 weeks off and bumped my calories and carbs up significantly. In order to approach my next contest with an undeniably improved physique, I will take as much time as I need to develop more muscle and put on more size. Even if that means not doing a show in 2019. Thanks to @joss_gamebreak_sports_massage and @bonecrusher3 for helping me deal with the pain! Happy fitness Friday! Post Zumba workout...just me, weights and my breathing....simple. Whatโ€™s your medicine today? Mine started with the gym and is continuing in my heart for mental fitness.๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’— . . HOW? ....starving the complicated and convoluted and feeding the simple and healthy. Letโ€™s explore a reality check. . . .I keep watching and listening to people talking about keeping toxic people pushed out to you your outer ring, blocking them, unfriending them....yes we do need to keep only the healthy in...but are we examining self? Are we owning up to even the slightest percentage we contributed or what we may have done to complicate? Are we being toxic in the least? Are we assuming? Are we going to the source? (THATS KEY) Those things simplify then we can move on...block or what we need to do for closure. Hear that.... . .Proper closure calms hearts, settles the soul and simplifies. When it comes to self-care, how often do you treat yourself? . . Self care should be part of your daily routine. Itโ€™s the day-in-and-day-out routine that will lead to your success in unraveling chronic pain and tension and washing away stress. Would you brush your teeth daily for a few weeks and then decide you're done? . . No? Then read on... . . Spend a minimum of 5 minutes everyday using a self treatment tool, like a small inflatable ball, a tennis ball, a pool noodle or a foam roller to release tight, tense or painful areas. I like to complement self-care with essential oil use, like Copaiba for its anti-inflammatory properties, Frankincense to keep my monkey-mind focused, Stress Away to calm my mind and body, and Lavender for relaxation and calming. . . I recommend using a foam roller for positional release, not to "roll out muscles", because rolling compresses the soft tissue. My favorite is the @smartroller because itโ€™s a little softer than traditional foam rollers, has a stable base for safety, it will allow you to tilt to increase a stretch/release and it holds its shape over time. . . You can turn any stretch into a myofascial stretch by elongating out and waiting 3-5 minutes for the release to occur. Be mindful and pay attention to how your body responds. As your body softens and lengthens out, keep with the stretch. . . How long you spend on any given day depends on how you're feeling and how much time you can devote to self-care.
