Started talking about Back To School with my daughter today 😬 There’s still a month to go, but want to start working on our Back to School routines, as I’ve heard it takes 21 days to break a habit. I went to see Made For More by Rachel Hollis last night and one of the Take-aways for me was 5 to Thrive and I want to start incorporating it into our Daily Routine! What Will You Do For You? 🌿5 to Thrive!🌿 . Five tips that you should do every day to improve your life! 5 to Thrive! Do every day!! 1. Drink half your body weight in Pounds in Oz of water! 2. Cut out one category of food for 30 days- DO NO CHEAT! Could be pop, sugar, candy, fast food, meat etc. 3.Workout-stay active every single day for at least 30 minutes 4.Wake up an hour earlier then you normally do - use it for yourself exercise, read books, dream, meditate, color, DYI, paint) value self care - go to bed an hour earlier 5.Everyday, write down 10 things you are grateful for that happened that day. NOT THE BIG THINGS. The small, specific things that happened each day. Today was a full day! And tonight was both wonderful and heartbreaking. A little girl who is 4 years old put these stickers on my arms💞 Her Uncle, who was only 19, was murdered earlier this year. I had the opportunity to connect with this precious little girl and to help facilitate the support group that I attended regularly for quite some time after my parents were killed. Tonight we honored the loved ones of group members by creating pages for our group scrapbook. This group is not a club that anyone would ever want to belong to, but we are so grateful it exists. Over time, some people seem to stay stuck in their grieving process and others don’t. There’s no right or wrong way to grieve. I am, however, grateful that in my case my test has become my testimony and now I can give back. 💚🙏 #grateful #5tothrive #grief #homicidesurvivor #bereavement #blessed #giveback #payitforward #princess

I love this spoon! You might be thinking “that’s an odd thing to say.” Yes, I use it to eat delicious, healthy foods that nourish my body. That’s not why I love it. I love it because somehow I ended up with it and a Winnie the Pooh bowl that belonged to my Mom. I don’t recall exactly how I ended up with just these 2 items out of all of the kitchen things that belonged to my parents. I was very much in the trauma fog when we cleaned out their house. I love this spoon because every time I use it, I think of my Mom holding it and it’s like we are holding hands. It’s a great reminder that our loved ones are never far when we hold them in our hearts. As part of our summer at home I've been working to read at least 30-minutes today of something. I've gotten through two books and am now enjoying this magazine about the #DisneyParks. 📚 One of the things that has helped me is using one of the 5 to Thrive methods from @msrachelhollis. I've been getting up an hour earlier every day and going to bed an our earlier. I take the time to have coffee, listen to Rachel's podcast, and read. It has changed my attitude for the day. 😀 See? I'm a perfectionist and that means my mind starts going in 10 different directions before my feet hit the floor. Ways I could be using this time. Should I shower? Should I get work done earlier? No. No, the to-do list can wait. I need some "me" time to grow personally and enjoy quiet. It helps my creative flow and keeps me happier during the day. Resulting in not snapping at my kids, not losing my mind over my perfectionism, and feeling good about life. 💓 Take an hour for yourself today. Somewhere. It really does make a difference. I know I’ve mentioned my love for @msrachelhollis before, but I’m super stoked to be focusing on her 5 to Thrive starting tomorrow! I have slowly been incorporating a few of these the past week, but tomorrow I’m going to work on achieving each one daily! ✨For my “food” category to give up for 30 days, I will be doing alcohol. I have a weak spot for a tasty beer or a nice glass of wine, but after working out lately and eating a little better, I’m realizing that the alcohol is contributing to my slow weight loss right now. If you know me you probably know I adore @msrachelhollis she’s funny, energetic, real and ridiculously motivating! I’ve been considering attempting her #5tothrive (listen to the podcast) — so some of these will be a huge challenge and others I’m really excited about. My boyfriend and I have decided that for our one food item to give up - we’re going to give up all fast food (even things within points!). Honestly this is a double win because it will save money - goodbye Starbucks I’ll miss you! And because we really don’t need it in our lives! So here’s to June goals! 🙌🏻
