Aihole also referred to as Aivalli, Ahivolal or Aryapura, is a historic site of ancient and medieval era Buddhist, Hindu and Jainmonuments in north Karnataka (India) dated from the fourth century through the twelfth century CE. Located around an eponymous small village surrounded by farmlands and sandstone hills, Aihole is a major archaeological site featuring over one hundred and twenty stone and cave temples from this period, spread along the Malaprabha river valley, in Bagalakote district. The Aihole monuments are located in the Indian state of Karnataka, about 190 kilometres (118 mi) southeast of Belgaum and 290 kilometres (180 mi) northeast from Goa. The monuments are about 14 miles (23 km) from Badami and about 6 miles (9.7 km) from Pattadakal, set midst rural villages, farms, sandstone hills and Malprabha river valley. The Aihole site preserves over 120 Hindu, Jain and Buddhist monuments from the 4th—12th century CE. The region is also a site for prehistoric dolmens and cave paintings. Aihole has no nearby airport, and is about 4 hours drive from Sambra Belgaum Airport (IATA Code: IXG), with daily flights to Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai. Badami is the closest town connected by railway and highway network to major cities of Karnataka and Goa. It is a protected monument under the laws of the Indian government, and managed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Taking a cycling trip through Old Delhi (or Purani Dilli). The name Delhi is linked to the Maurya king Dhilu who ruled the region in the 1st century BC. Delhi has been ruled by succession of invaders and dynasties. Frantic city building continued through-out the Mughal period. The Mughan city fell in 1739 to the Persians and the last Mughal Emperor was exiled to Burma (Myanmar) for his role in the 1857 First War of Independence against the British. The British Raj then shifted the capital of British controlled territories to a less volatile city, Calcutta; where it remained till 1911. Lutyen’s (the British architecture who designed and built most of the structures in the British Raj) Delhi was born when the capital was moved back from Calcutta to the now -New Delhi. #newdelhi #india #visitindia #streetphotography #street #oldtown #bicycleride #bicycletravel #travel #explorer #wanderer #travelgram #dangerously #sonya7r #sonyalpha #sonyvisual #aov #moodygrams #discoverindia #tourismindia #amazingindia #indiatravel #natgeoindia #passportcollective #moodygrams #igramming_india #citylife #cityview #travelpassport

Drop a ❤️ | "Rajasthan’s most romantic locale, Udaipur, is known as the ‘Venice of the East.' Udaipur’s City Palace is something straight out of a fairytale; the imposing honey-hued Mewar palace stands proudly on the banks of Lake Pichola. I recently explored the sprawling structure through labyrinthine network of stairwells, corridors and extravagantly decorated courtyards. After admiring the famous Mor Chowk (Peacock Courtyard), I stumbled upon this gorgeous blue room. One can only begin to imagine the magnificent lives once lived by the rulers of the Mewar dynasty." ✨💙✨💜 • #vibesofindia for a Feature 💙 • Picture By: @portmanteau_press Curated By: @shubham.sidhu

Back of the old Govinda ji temple. Once seven story building, the Govinda ji temple was the highest temple in all of braj, so high that on a diwali night Mughal emperor Aurangazeb could see the one hundred litre Ghee lamp on top of the temple from the Red fort in Agra and mistook it to be a star in the sky. Angered that the highest building in the land was a hindu temple he ordered his army to completely destroy it. After destroying four flores the Mughal soldiers started hearing the tremendous roar of a lion which was louder than thunder, their hearts shuttered from fear and they fled for their lives. The roar was of a nearby Hanuman called "Simhapor Hanuman" simha means lion. After that the King of Jaipur took Govindaji and many more deities including Madan Mohan, Radha Gopinath, Radha Damodar and many more. Govindaji was the worshipful deity of Srila Rupa Goswami, the head of our Gaudiya Vaishnava line, the Rupanuga Gaudiya Parampara and one of the Six Goswamis of Vrindavan which were the principal followers of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu... #india #vrindavan #braj #photography otos #incredibleindia #amazingindia #mobilephotography #photosofindia

We were watching a large community group celebrating and dancing their way down to Gangaur Ghat. They soon asked us to join them in the celebrations with them. Powder paint was being thrown around fire crackers were popping off and some very questionable dance moves were on show.
