Resting is SO important. Iโ€™ve realised that I was exhausted this week, following a big year in my career & business. Our society puts too much emphasis on constant โ€˜doingโ€™, without recognizing that in the recharging space you can come back to work, duties and relationships in a more productive, enhanced way. Whether you are a mum, at uni or trying to make your way in the world, you may come to a time when you just push and push & then leave yourself stressed out and incapable of being the best you can be. I think thatโ€™s where Iโ€™d got to, depleted. This week, I have been RESTING more than I have for the last 6 months. I did not bring anything with me that could result in me learning or working (no laptop, no journaling) ~ I also reduced external guidance such a oracle cards, daily readings & guided meditations. What I have learnt is that :- ~ going to bed every afternoon for a guilt-free nap, was so needed. ~ being quiet & reducing input has enabled me to hear the part of me that deserves & needed validation. ~ physical relaxation & accessing massage & deep cleansing practices has helped me to fully embody restoration. ~ essential oils (doTerra) have been an essential (see what I did there๐Ÿ˜‰) part of this experience of deep rest. ~ a huge queen sized bed helps. ~ listening to podcasts relaxes me & requires less concentration than reading. ~ not having an itinerary is freedom. ~ having a partner who wants to rest, is so bloody helpful to my โ€˜over achievingโ€™ mentality.
