This powerful method of yoga allows for supported self-discovery and progression of your practice. The Aṣṭāṅga yoga method of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois is well known for its ‘Mysore method’ of teaching, named for the city in South India in which Jois lived and taught for over 70 years. It is a traditional way to teach students individually but in a group environment. This differs from the standard led (guided) classes that are now common to most forms of yoga. In ‘Mysore class’, students work at their own pace, practicing whatever series or section of a series that is appropriate for their individual needs and ability. The class is mostly silent apart from a few words of instruction, with only the combined sound of breathing in the room as a backdrop. It requires a skilled and experienced teacher able to give individual attention as and when each practitioner requires and with as little interruption as possible to the continuity of their inner flow of experience. This method is particularly powerful when a student dedicates themselves to a single teacher. The nourishing of a close student-teacher relationship allows the teacher to understand the idiosyncrasies of each student, and gain an insight into how to help their progression both in the short and longer term. Cuando comenzamos con este camino, a veces corremos el riesgo de volvernos muy literales... tenemos una idea de lo que es “un/una yogui” y más que realizar un trabajo para acercarnos lo más posible a esos ideales, lo que hacemos es tratar de mostrar las cualidades que se acercan a dichos ideales, y ocultar las que juzgamos como “malas”... de pronto, empezamos a proyectar un personaje “iluminado” que no se enfada, ni desea, ni agrede, ni es egocéntrico, ni tiene pensamientos negativos, etc. Y al final, el camino que en teoría nos llevará a ser más honestos nos hace vivir, de nuevo, presos de un personaje . Puede que el yoga sea un camino hacia la luz, pero si no hacemos las paces con nuestras sombras, si no les damos salida, y si no nos atrevemos a ser nosotros mismos, con todo lo que hay, no hay transformación verdadera posible. Solo hay un cambio de disfraz . Creo que cuando decidimos mostrar sólo unos aspectos de nosotros y ocultar otros, lo hacemos siempre por miedo al rechazo, por ese miedo a no ser aceptados y en definitiva, queridos. Pero no creo que haya un rechazo más doloroso que el de uno hacia sí mismo. Y cuando elijo fingir quien no soy para ser más aceptado o querido, vivo una mentira dolorosa que nunca acaba bien y sólo se complica más y más . Creo que el principio es aceptarse como se es, y aprender a quererse como se es. Y si aspiramos a desarrollar ciertas cualidades, que se desarrollen desde NOSOTROS mismos, desde nuestra esencia y personalidad, que son únicas y es donde radica nuestra fuerza... no existe “un yogui”, existen millones de personas particulares y llenas de matices, capaces de vivir su vida más plenamente y con mayor conciencia usando el yoga como herramienta. Entonces, creo que no tenemos q intentar meternos en la piel del yoga, sino dejar que el yoga se adapte a nuestra piel... y seguro que mi versión de yogui será, al menos, honesta. ¡Con sus luces, y sus sombras! Y cuando soy capaz de aceptar mis propias sombras, puedo trabajar sobre ellas, transformarlas y desarrollar compasión sobre esos aspectos, y lo mismo ocurre con los demás. . Sólo los que no aceptan su propia sombra condenan a los demás cuando atisban las suyas.

Set Up Foundation 💪🏾 Start from table top. Place hands directly under your shoulders with knees directly under the hips . Breath 💨 Inhale, then exhale as you slowly take the top of your head to touch the floor about six inches in front of your hands. Lift your hips up and back so that your torso is almost vertically straight. . Engage 🔅Strengthen through your core as you bend your knees and shift your hips forward to take your feet up. I like to hold legs at a 90 degree angle for 2-3 breaths. Focus your energy and envision a straight line from the top of your head to the soles of your foot. . Center 💢 Breathe for five full breaths.
