I thought I was over the hump. I thought I could stop taking these. I thought wrong. . My postpartum depression hasn’t gone away. Wynne is almost 8 months and in my head, I should be fine. . But after being off of my meds for just 5 days, I find myself completely overwhelmed, crying a lot, and not coping well. . “Exhausted” doesn’t even begin to describe me right now. This week was awful. Terrible. Draining and overwhelming. There are so many things I need to do and for the last two days all I have been able to find energy for is getting out of bed to feed myself. 😅⁣ ⁣ My husband was an 😇 angel yesterday and let me sleep ALL DAY while he took Z to lunch and to run some errands. I’m thankful for a husband who sees when I’m not myself and who doesn’t think twice about doing what he can to make sure I get rest when I need it. ❤️⁣ ⁣ I don’t think I’m really that much busier than anyone else. We all have 24 hours in each day, some of us just choose to stack them fuller than others. It’s ok to follow your passions, it’s ok to do all the things. But it’s also necessary to rest. And rest looks different for everyone. And while “all the things” are ultimately for the benefit of my family, my family also needs me to be my best self, and exhaustion and fatigue are not my best self. ⁣ ⁣ Today for me, rest looks like asking for a sub for my classes, (☝🏼a month ago, I might add, because I KNEW that this week would bring epic fatigue,😴) and laying in bed all morning watching Into the Spiderverse 🕷 for the 356th time with my 3.5 year old big boy who is currently choosing to be precious. ⁣ ⁣ Rest is important. And asking for help is OKAY. 🎄7th December - #fullofloveadvent Both of us (Kate and I) have a serious need to be outdoors for a lot of the day. It seems strange to some, that one of the hardest things we found about having babies is having to stay at home/time outings accordingly to suit the little people in our lives. For me at least, it was by far one of the biggest adjustments I had to make to my new life. Growing up in the Countryside means we’re never too far from our nearest London park, walking our dogs and soaking up some nature wherever we can find it. I’ve loved watching my son fall in love with the outdoors too. As we step outside, he goes from agitated to enchanted with the vivid colors, interesting smells, and cool breeze. It’s clear to me there is something about that fresh air that is so soothing — even to an infant. I suppose I have some other motives, too. By introducing him to nature at such an early age, I hope to establish a lifelong love of exploration and activity. Plus, I still get to enjoy my favorite trails with the added benefit of witnessing his wonderment with the world. I’ve had some strong mum guilt this week as we’ve been stuck indoors for a lot of it and the whole of instagram seems to have their shiny Christmas decs up- but I’ve just been feeling too rotten to manage to go out and get a tree. So today, with the help of @alikahloon we wrapped up, walked around some Christmas lights and picked the perfect one. I’ve officially gone through the hardest thing in my life. I don’t wish to disclose what has happened for personal reasons. I just want to share the lesson I have learned from this situation: Appreciate every second you have with someone you love. We think we have forever and I’m sorry to say we do not. -Reach out to those you love. Understand that every single person you meet is fighting their own battles. Be kind. Be empathetic. Be that persons peace. -Just because you have pains, doesn’t mean you have to be one. -Do the right thing, even when it’s hard. -Stay calm in scary situations. -Be the good you wish to see around you. -resentment will not change anything neither will being angry -And most importantly, don’t be afraid to ask for help. I hope anyone who is struggling or in a dark place knows they are loved, and that they are worth everything they believe they are not. Trick I learnt choose one day to record your thoughts. How many negative ones did you think? How many positive? Negative thoughts is just a way to kick your own ass. Anxiety and depression are perfect nesting grounds for your negative thoughts. Change your thinking, change your life. You’ll notice a lot of stuff you didn’t before. As humans misery loves company and it’s important to be able to vent. However, do you notice that the people around you have nothing nice to say? Perhaps your stuck in a negative loop. Your mind your surroundings the people you attract and hang out with. Good things happen when you decide that you deserve good things to happen. When left untreated anxiety and depression which are medical conditions can make that loop near impossible to stop without intervention. Our self image is directly tied to what we think, and if your always being negative of course your going to end up that way. Challenge yourself to change the dialog in your thoughts. One retail outing a day is sometimes all I can manage in a day. In addition to walking and training Harry and keeping up with the business of living. Having items delivered home is a huge help. Managing inventory of items online is not always easy. Sometimes we end up with too many paper plates and not enough paper towels.
