Here is the stunning bubble nebula 😍 Blown by the wind from a massive star, this interstellar apparition has a surprisingly familiar shape. Cataloged as NGC 7635, it is also known simply as The Bubble Nebula. Although it looks delicate, the 7 light-year diameter bubble offers evidence of violent processes at work. Above and left of the Bubble's center is a hot, O-type star, several hundred thousand times more luminous and some 45 times more massive than the Sun. A fierce stellar wind and intense radiation from that star has blasted out the structure of glowing gas against denser material in a surrounding molecular cloud. The intriguing Bubble Nebula and associated cloud complex lie a mere 7,100 light-years away toward the boastful constellation Cassiopeia. This sharp, tantalizing view of the cosmic bubble is a composite of Hubble Space Telescope image data from 2016, reprocessed to present the nebula's intense narrowband emission in an approximate true color scheme. Martian greeting from our Mars Curiosity Rover 💌 and talk about a proud parent moment: Curiosity collected two Martian soil samples that have revealed the highest amounts of clay minerals ever found during its mission! ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Clay often forms in water, which is essential for life. These finding are proof that there was a significant amount of water once in Gale Crater, rover’s current location. It's likely that the rocks in the area formed as layers of mud in ancient lakes — something Curiosity also found lower on Mount Sharp.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Red Planet rover is able to produce these by taking a string of photos that are stitched together, producing this wide lens camera effect keeping the robotic arm with the camera unseen.⁣⁣⁣ Tag someone who would be interested in this! M82: Galaxy with a Supergalactic Wind Why is the Cigar Galaxy billowing red smoke? M82, as this starburst galaxy is also known, was stirred up by a recent pass near large spiral galaxy M81. This doesn't fully explain the source of the red-glowing outwardly expanding gas and dust, however. Evidence indicates that this gas and dust is being driven out by the combined emerging particle winds of many stars, together creating a galactic superwind. The dust particles are thought to originate in M82's interstellar medium and are actually similar in size to particles in cigar smoke. The featured photographic mosaic highlights a specific color of red light strongly emitted by ionized hydrogen gas, showing detailed filaments of this gas and dust. The filaments extend for over 10,000 light years. The 12-million light-year distant Cigar Galaxy is the brightest galaxy in the sky in infrared light, and can be seen in visible light with a small telescope towards the constellation of the Great Bear (Ursa Major). . . . #astronomia #astrofisica #nasa #astrofotografia #planets #planeta #planet #solarsystem #sunsystem #spacephotography #nasabeyond #astronomie #youresa #apod #space #astronomer #jupiter #espacio #nasajpl #nasajuno #juno #junocam #astronomy #telescope #roscosmosofficial #hubble #perijove #spacecraft #timelapse

* * * ✨FOLLOW @milkyway_tv for more! * * * Feature: @ricardodetreend: "Shot from 37,000 ft above the Earth and traveling at over 900km per hour... Encouraged by my recent astro successes from the middle of the Pacific Ocean... I simply had to try my luck from an aircraft window as I flew home to NZ!! These are both hand-held 4 second exposures. I pulled the window blind down over the camera and stuffed an airline blanket all around it in order to block cabin light pollution from reflecting off the glass. The camera was triggered manually. The first was shot at ISO 16,000 f2.8 and the second at ISO 8,000 Again, it was important to find a balance between speed of exposure being short enough to capture the Galactic Core of the Milky Way without incurring motion blur or star trails, and long enough to allow sufficient light onto the sensor from an otherwise black sky outside. The blind and blanket were essential aids in achieving these shots. My first attempts without them had big awful light artefacts and reflections from the main cabin spoiling the shots. It was fortunate that I was on the window seat of an exit row at the back of the wing and so had plenty of room to move around without disturbing others. The second shot was taken from a cabin crew member’s window with a curtain drawn around me for added darkness. I was declined my request to shoot from a window of the flight deck... I guess I look too dodgy 😂👎✨ ====================== 📷 Canon EOS 5D Mk IV 🔭 Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L ii USM ⌛️ 16mm f/2.8 ISO 16,000 4 secs hand-held" * * * #discoverearth #capture #wallpaper #neverstopexploring #dreamworld #photographyart #earthpix #main_vision #astropic #beautifuldestinations #asteroid #lonelyplanet #astrography #astrophoto #photooftheday #discoverglobe #earthvisuals #landscapephoto #naturelovers #astronomer #theimaged #milkywaychasers #nightshooterz #spacetime #constellation #big_shotz #deepsky #greatshotz #seetheworld #moonrise

In today’s Universe, particles obey certain rules. Most of them have masses, corresponding to the total amount of internal energy inherent to that particle’s existence. They can either be matter (for the Fermions), antimatter (for the anti-Fermions), or either (for the bosons). Some of the particles are massless, which demands they move at the speed of light. Whenever corresponding matter/antimatter pairs collide with one another, they can spontaneously annihilate, generally producing two massless photons. And when you smash together any two particles at all with large enough amounts of energy, there’s a chance that you can spontaneously create new matter/antimatter particle pairs. So long as there’s enough energy, according to Einstein’s E = mc^2 we can turn energy into matter, and vice versa. Well, things sure were different early on! At the extremely high energies we find in the earliest stages of the Big Bang, every particle in the Standard Model was massless. The Higgs symmetry, which gives particles masses when it breaks, is completely restored at these temperatures. It’s too hot not only to form atoms and bound atomic nuclei, but even individual protons and neutrons are impossible; the Universe is a hot, dense plasma filled with all the particles and antiparticles that can exist. Energies are so high that even the most ghostly known particles and antiparticles of all, neutrinos and antineutrinos, smash into other particles more frequently than at any other time. Every particle smacks into another countless trillions of times per microsecond, all moving at the speed of light. nature #science #theorticalphysics #thermodynamics #physics #astronomer #astronomy #nasa🚀 #nebula #galaxy #knowledge #particlephysics #universe #cosmology #cosmologist #astrophysics #scientist #elonmusk #spacex #stellarphysics #interstellar #education #exploration #star #astrophysicist #hubblespacetelescope #hubble #quantumphysics #gravitationalwaves #physicist #realtivity

K2-18b is an exoplanet which orbits a red dwarf 125 light-years away from Earth. K2-18b has a mass greater than eight Earth masses and it is therefore classified as a Super Earth. The exoplanet is found inside the habitable zone of its star and it orbits it every 33 days. Because of its proximity to the red dwarf, it is quite unlikely that the planet is habitable. Using some telescopes, including Hubble, two independent research groups have discovered the presence of water vapor in the atmosphere of K2-18b. It is the first discovered exoplanet located in the habitable zone of its star and with water vapor in the atmosphere. . . Reposted from @space.photos10 - Which are your feelings watching the Moon at night?⠀ ⠀⠀ Dreaming of clear skies and late summer nights spent imaging. Here is an HDR image taken of an early phase moon when the earth shine is visible. Earthshine is probably my favorite phenomena, it’s when light from the sun bounces off the moon, then bounces off earth, then bounces back to the moon, and then bounces back and goes into your eyes! Lots of reflections go on to make the dark side brighter, and it’s always fun to share that fact with people when they’ve never learned before. In unrelated news my final exams for this semester are coming up soon, so things are going to get rough, but also my freedom is not far away.
