Things I have learnt over the past few weeks.. You can not compare your progress to that of another. You can not compare your individual strengths and weaknesses due to multiple factors.. training age, leverages, genetics, training history, predominant muscle fibre type, etc etc the list goes on.. This amazing girl has transformed her shape by getting STRONG! @andrea_graf84 started training with me a while ago with the goal of gaining fitness and reducing back pain. So my hip has been playing up since I pushed my Sumo’s up to 100kg a few weeks ago.. so there was only one thing for it πŸ‘‰πŸ» Conventionals πŸ–€πŸ˜ Today’s session definitely reignited my love for deads. My hips are narrow, I squat narrow, might make my way back to pulling this way.. Time Will Tell πŸ’β€β™€οΈ - - Set of 3 at 90 and 95 (top set 3 RPE 9) then 4x4 @ 82kgs πŸ‘πŸ» - - Back rounding not as bad as I anticipated, all I know is they felt good πŸ’ͺ🏻 @athena_personaltraining - - Thanks to @fusionapparel666 for sending me over some goodies too! Managed a few sets even with this awful cold 😫😫 - Squat position changed again, reassessed my foot placement and seem to get way more of a pop out of my quads by being more narrow. Had a great day at the Scottish Powerlifting Open yesterday πŸ’ͺ🏻 a big achievement for me not only for competing in my first comp but I also dropped down to a bodyweight I feel much happier with so double win! Huge thanks to coach @kim_elysium for putting up with my low self esteem and general anxiety but I did it and I’d for sure do it again ❀️ always remember to just be the best version of yourself✌🏻x at Raw 3.0

#PROUDCOACH ❀️πŸ’ͺ🏻- - Yesterday 2 of my strong girls stepped onto the platform for the first time at the Fife Open Powerlifting Competition! (Swipe ⬅️ for videos of best lifts) - Both excelled theirselves and did incredibly well on all 3 of their lifts. Words cannot describe how proud it made me, as their coach, to have watched them grow and evolve to the strong women they are today! - - @lauren_musclemermaid placed 2nd and got a silver medal for her 305kg total in the -84kg class, with the perfect meet hitting 9/9 with a 120kg squat - 50kg bench press - 135kg deadlift (pb!) - - @melanie_nocher totalled 240kg in the -63 category and hit PB’s in all of her lifts at her current body weight of 62kg! Omg what a day I had yesterday competing in my first powerlifting competition! πŸ˜€πŸŽ‰πŸ’ͺ Some folk might not get it but powerlifting means alot to me. I can now happily say that I am officially a powerlifter πŸ’ͺ I managed to achieve all my goals and more on the day. I got my 120kg squat, 50kg bench and 135kg deadlift which was a new PB! Giving me a total of 305kg!! πŸ˜€πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ This meant I placed 2nd 😱😱😱 and got myself a medal πŸ₯ˆπŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ still can't believe it! Never in my life did I think I would place! I am so proud of myself πŸ˜€ The day meant so much to me and would like to thank Scottish Powerlifting for holding such a great event. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and such a great atmosphere πŸ˜€ I can't thank this person enough, she has always believed in me and has worked with me to achieve this. She was such a massive support on the day and making sure everything fell into place ❀ she really does go above and beyond what a PT would do. My friend as well as personal trainer. Let me explain: - If we look at the line of the shoulder blade in relation to the bar, in the 1st pic we are further forward therefore losing leverage in the initial part of the pull (bar will most likely pull forward away from body). - Secondly and possibly more importantly, you can clearly see a difference in Michelle’s back position. In picture number 1, her scapula is retracted but not depressed, meaning there is no β€˜pull’ on the bar or the β€˜slack is still in the bar. This makes it hard to maintain tightness in the back as a whole when initiating the pull, so when Michelle is thinking shoulders back & chest up, she is also unintentionally putting her back into slight hyper extension (resulting in the back rounding when the weight comes off the floor). - So what did we do to get into position number 2? Simple. A top down deadlift or β€˜deadlift negative’ into some touch and go reps with a slow tempo on the eccentric.
