Stick to your bedtime routine! -Room darkening -Do nothing - babies are generally adaptable to change! Sickness and sleep expectations🤒⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ During a phone consult with one of my lovely clients recently, the question was raised of what to do if while we worked together (and in the future) bub gets sick. Does she stick to the plan?⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I feel like I gave her the answer to the question then lived the answer the very next day with my son...⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ If your bub gets sick while working with me or just in general, I always say your expectations on their sleeping ability and quality always need to be lowered and you may need to be more hands on with them during this time, as well as letting them sleep more if need be to. Forget your usual routine and be there for your child❤️⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ My personal experience with my near 4 year old: he was sick a couple of weeks back and was home with me instead of kindy. Due to his age I don’t offer him a midday nap anymore as this results in him prolonging bedtime at night, he usually just has quite play time while his sister sleeps. On this particular day however, as he was sick and I could see he was visibly tired and worn out I offered him a nap in which he had and even went to bed early that night with no complaints. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Just trying to reiterate my point that during a time of sickness our bodies need different things❤️ it’s ok to not stick to your usual plan.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Just a reminder though, when they are better and you are ready to get back into your usual routine, then you need to do just that. If you have been more responsive to them while they were sick chances are they may expect that now. Sleep associations don’t take long to form🙈 Work with them gradually (using my recommendations if you are working with me) to get them sleeping independently again🙌🏼 or at least back to what they were doing prior to being sick☺️😘⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣

Sleep coaching! - So our son is almost 6 months old and can only sleep in a babysling during the day and in movement meaning we walk or bonce on a gym ball. During the night he falls only asleep nursing and he sleeps on his daddys chest. It is very exhausting for us, this is why I was hooked by the idea that there is a gentle sleep coaching approach be "the sleep lady". Nope it was catastrophical! He cried and did not understand what we wanted and yes he fell asleep but only for 40min and crying. We tried it 4 times and decided a baby this age does not understand and it is just conditioning, like you do with a dog. And no there is no "gentle approach"!!! it's just another "ferberizing". He was crying hysterical when we laid him down and "shsh" him and tried to comfort him verbally. We picked him up when it was to hysterical and put him down after the stopped crying and he started crying hysterical again. In our opinion there is no difference if he crys alone or with us next to him, the body is on stress!!! White Noise Continued...So you know to have white noise at about as loud as a vacuum. But what sound should you use? Why does this actually help babies sleep?⁠ ~⁠ Without getting too technical, when we refer to white noise, we're usually talking about a mixture of sounds like actual white noise, or variances like pink or brown noise, and ambient sounds like rain or ocean waves. ~⁠ Many sleep trainers and prefer pink & brown noise due to their deeper sounds- it's not as "high" of a pitch as white noise. ⁠ ~⁠ If you're choosing an ambient sound, I prefer waves (I'm an ocean girl btw) for the rhythm that can help lull your baby. The downside of this is that there are pauses in the sounds or different levels of coverage from the wave which can lead to outside sound coming in.⁠ ~⁠ White noise can be a worthwhile investment. You don't need the most expensive model, just one that has a high enough volume level and doesn't emit light. Many parents will use an app on their tablet or old phone. If you choose this, make sure it doesn't shut off and all notifications are off. Also, refer back to last week when we talked about blue light.⁠ ~⁠ White noise works by drowning out outside noise, preventing startles. The steady sound in the background helps maintain a constant environmental cue in the background, assisting in falling back to sleep when they rouse between sleep cycles. Without it, babies may hear the noise of what's happening elsewhere and become more alert and stimulated. If your sound machine or app shuts off during a nap or overnights, you'll probably notice your baby wakes soon afterward.⁠ ~⁠ Evaluating all of this and helping you create the perfect environment is only part of how we help families put everything together to help their baby sleep. Let’s talk about wake windows. ⁣ ⁣ When you hear the term “wake windows”, or “wake time”, it means the amount of time your baby is awake between naps or between naps/bedtime. ⁣ ⁣ Wake windows will slowly increase as your baby gets older, but how do you know when that is?!⁣ ⁣ Hopefully this little guide will help you. ⁣ ⁣ Keep in mind that every baby is different! Try to stick in this range but if your baby can’t, it’s okay! Slowly work towards these windows:⁣ ⁣ 0-12 weeks: 1 - 1.5 hours ⁣ 3-4 months: 1.5 - 2 hours ⁣ 5-7 months: 2-3 hours⁣ (This is about when that 3rd nap drops)⁣ 8-15 months: 4-5 hours ⁣ (This is about when they move to one nap)⁣ 16-24+ months: 5-6 hours⁣ ⁣ If there is one wake window that I had to choose to make the biggest difference in your baby’s sleep, it would be the wake window between the last nap of the day and bedtime.⁣ ⁣ If all other wake times are off for the day, try to make that last one as close to these times as possible:)⁣ ⁣ What do you think? ⁣ ⁣ Is your baby pretty close to their age range? ⁣ ⁣ Could they use a little push to stay awake longer? ⁣ ⁣ Are they staying awake too long and getting overtired, making it hard to sleep?⁣ ⁣

Daha önce birlikte çalıştığım kuzular büyüdü ve birçoğu tek uykuya geçmek üzere ya da geçti. 🧸Bu yazı, tek uykuya geçmeye hazırlanan tüm bebişler için :) ▶️Geçişin habercisi olan sinyaller: 🦋Bebeğiniz 13-18 aylar arasındaysa ( bazı bebekler 12 ayda da geçebilir) Doğru zamanı bebeğinizden gelen sinyallere göre tespit etmeniz uygun olur. 🦋1. ve/veya 2. Uykuya dalması uzun sürdüğünden dolayı uyku saati hep geçe kalıyor ve bu da akşam yatış saatini ileri kaydırıyorsa 🦋Bebeğiniz 1 ya da 2 gündüz uykusunda uykuya dalmakta zorluk çekiyorsa ( daha önce kolay daldığı halde) ya da yatağında konuşup/oynayıp keyifli vakit geçiriyor fakat uykuya dalmıyorsa 🦋Aniden gece uyanmaları ya da erken uyanmalar başladıysa 🦋Bu sinyaller yaklaşık 2 haftadır devam ediyorsa 🦋Tek uyku yapmasına rağmen günün sonuna kadar huzursuzlanmadan durabiliyorsa ✅Ben genelde 16-18 aydan daha erken aylarda, öncelikle sabah bebeğinizi normalden daha erken uyandırırak, ilk uykuyu kısa tutarak, ya da uyanıklık süresini arttırarak bir müddet daha 2 uyku devam edip edemeyeceğine bakmanızı öneririm. ✅Eğer tek uykuya geçiş zamanı geldiyse, geçişi kolaylaştıracak bazı ipuçları: 🦋Sabah uykusunu aşamalı olarak ileri alarak, en erken 11.00 gibi başlamasını sağlamaya çalışın. Örneğin, bebeğiniz normalde sabah 10.00 da sabah uykusu yapıyorsa her 2-3 günde bir 15-20 dakika daha geç yatırabilirsiniz. Bebeğinizin tek yapacağı uyku bu olacağı için onu uyandırmayın. Uyursa 2-3 saat uyuyabilir. Uyutmadan önce bebeğinizin beslendiğine emin olun ki, açlık sebebiyle uyanmasın. 🦋Sabah uyku saatini ötelemeye çalışırken ilk zamanlar bebeğiniz zorlanabilir bu gayet normal. Bebeğinizi dışarı temiz havaya çıkararak, aktif oyunlar oynayarak uyku saatini ötelemeye çalışabilirsiniz. Zamanla uyku saatini öteleyerek 12.00-13.00 arası bir saatte fiksleyebilirsiniz. Bebeğinizin ayını ve sabah uyanma saatini dikkate alarak rahat uyuduğu bir saati belirleyebilirsiniz. Bed guard: it is designed to prevent your kid from falling out of bed. It is made of mesh fabric, which does not prevent the visibility and reassures the baby. There are lots of brands out there. I tried myself two: Chicco and Rossi. Both are good, practical and lightweight. However you need to pay attention to the height of the bed guard compared to the matress one. . Week 1 & 2 ☑️Allow baby to sleep as much as he or she wants. ☑️Try to establish a daytime from night by bringing baby into a brightly lit room during waking hours. The four month sleep regression is when a baby's sleep is becoming less like that of a newborn and more like that of an adult. ⁣ ⁣ -Babies who can’t go back to sleep on their own after they wake from a sleep cycle, will cry out for whatever method was used to help them go to sleep in the first place. ⁣ ⁣ -When your baby is a newborn, they can usually fall asleep pretty easily if you hold, rock, nurse, or give them a bottle. Around the fourth month, a baby's brain starts to mature, they are more aware of their surroundings, and they spend less time in REM sleep. ⁣ ⁣ -Babies can also have a harder time falling asleep. A four-month-old, like an adult, moves more slowly through the stages of sleep, from being sleepy, to drowsy, then to deep sleep.⁣ ⁣ If your baby is experiencing the four month sleep regression, it doesn't usually just "go away" and your baby returns to sleeping well on their own.
