What does being healthy mean to you? Do you take the steps necessary to be your version of healthy. Is it ..... ~How you treat your body? ~How you look? ~How healthy you eat? ~How you feel? ~How you perform in the gym? ~How well you sleep? ~What your blood results reflect? ~How you manage your stress? ~What you think of yourself? ~What others think of you? Being healthy to me is all of the above with the exception of the last one. It is a result of feeding your body with foods that make you FEEL good. Your body is EVERYTHING!!! How you treat it gives you your emotions, habits, hormones, thoughts, mindset and outlook on life. Being healthy is much more than a "look". When you don't take care of your body your relationship with yourself suffers, relationship with your others suffers, your work suffers, your emotions change and the list goes on. Treat your body how you want to feel not just how you want to look. Take care of it, listen to it. We all focus on aesethetics and that's okay, but make sure you appreciate your body for more than how you LOOK! Our bodies are all created differently, yet the same! Fuel it right, exercise it, stretch it, rest it, appreciate it, give it what it needs to feel your best for the long run!! This picture is irrelevant, but it's me probably in a healthier state than I've ever been. "Why not have a few more?" Is this a trigger for you to eat more than you planned? You start with one cookie, then take one again, and again and before you know it the entire package is gone. It often helps me to make better decisions when I put numbers on food consumption and its consequences. For this reason, I made a chart illustrating how long you would need to walk off (burn the kcal by walking) popular cookies. Usually it is pretty doable to walk off one cookie, however, when you eat a bowl or a pack full of cookies, it becomes unrealistic. It’s not a problem to walk for 24 min to burn the calories of a chocolate chip cookie. However, if you eat an entire bowl with 6 cookies, you would need to walk for 2 hours and 24 minutes (!!!) not to gain fat from excess calories. Nobody has time to walk that much! Even if you decide to go for the ‘better choice’ and eat a Lenny & Larry’s protein cookies, you still need to walk over 1.5 hours, because one cookie has a total 360 kcal! The 180 kcal per serving that are shown on the package are just for half a cookie! But who even eats half a cookie? Considering that there are only 16 g protein per cookie, which you could get in by consuming 20 g of protein powder and also getting less than 80 kcal from it, I think that having Lenny & Larry’s protein cookies is more of a treat than a ‘better food choice’. I hope this information helps you to make the right choices of how much to eat. I want to tell you to look in the mirror and truly see yourself. I want to tell you to go into dressing rooms and see yourself with confidence. But I also know that is easier said then done. BODY DYSMORPHIA is a real life phenomenon. I know first hand what it is like to look in the mirror and think I see 'something else.' I have struggled with bad body image nearly my entire life. Even at my thinnest, I still looked in the mirror and saw myself as 'bigger.' I thought that is how others viewed me as well. After being teased for my weight in high school and struggling to see my self worth, body dysmorphia became a true struggle for me. Any negative feeling would make the mirror distort my perception of myself. When I truly began focusing on loving my body, I forced myself to look in the mirror. I forced myself to compliment my body and truly see m y s e l f. When you look in the mirror, you have to look at all of you. When you're feeling bad about your body, you have to remind yourself it is still YOU. The real, raw, beautiful you. The mirror does not define you. The way you view your body does not define you. You define YOU. Remember that if you choose to see yourself as beautiful, then you will carry on your life as if you are a 'beautiful person.'

This is a photo of my favourite protein pancakes I used to have back in Melbourne. I would have them with THE best yogurt @chobani some strawberries, blueberries and banana. 😋👌🏼 . Living in paradise is always amazing. But the city girl in me has been missing a few treats like my stevia, my favourite yogurt, my protein pancakes from @365supps, my sugar-free snacks and fully stacked supermarkets with endless food options. Women often perform static stretches before their workouts and we really shouldn't. 🙈 💡Static stretching (aka a stretch you hold for a few seconds or minutes) should happen *after* your workout. 🤷🏽Why? Because static stretching before a workout is like trying to stretch a cold rubber band. It's not malleable, warm and not *ready* to be stretched. When that rubber band snaps back it's going to be exactly the same. Same goes for your body. 💡 What IS effective is dynamic stretching pre-workout. DS mimicks what you'll be doing in your workout while warming up the joints + muscles to prepare them for the work. The fluid movement allows blood to flow to the muscles and in turn "warms you up." Especially when you're incorporating weights into your routine - you'll want to begin to focus on proper movement and form. 🎯Since I train lower body a lot 🍑🙃🍑🙃 I have a bunch of dynamic stretches I like to do before my workouts. Move over pumpkin spice! 🍎 Step into fall with these caramel apple muffins: Dry Ingredients: - 1 cup whole wheat flour (or flour of choice) - 2 scoops (or packets) of @questnutrition salted caramel protein powder - 1 tsp cinnamon - 2 tsp baking powder - dash of salt Wet Ingredients: - 1/4c agave - 1 egg - ½ c coconut oil, melted - 1 c applesauce - 1 tsp vanilla Mix dry ingredients in one bowl and wet ingredients in another. From sitting around 240 ➡ The leanest I've ever been at 205 lbs. (Swipe left). Crazy how things change when you want it bad enough. Trust the process. Failure is temporary, giving up is permanent. People see the progress and the end result but nobody but yourself truly knows the struggle. Alcohol + Fitness - can they coexist? 🍷 ___ No need to skip wine night out with the gals💃 But before heading out, here are a few tips to keep ya on track... ✖Calorie count / Alcohol ranks in at 7 calories/g - that said, if you’re planning on having a drink this evening, simply account for it in the rest of your day ✖If you track macros and are having 1 drink (🙋 shameless lightweight) at 100 calories, I’d plan for this by consuming either 25g carb or 11g less fat throughout the rest of the day ✖If you don’t track macros - imagine 25g of carbs as ½ cup oatmeal, 1 banana, ½ cup cooked rice, or a slice of bread and 11g of fat roughly equivalent to 1.5T peanut butter, a serving/18 almonds, ½ avocado, 1T olive oil ___ If you decide to indulge, it’s also beneficial to be aware that... ✖Alcohol interferes with the normal functioning of the Krebs Cycle (plays a role in energy production) ✖Increases lactate production (increases hydrogen ions in body → increases acidity of body → decreases pH of body → body needs to work harder to return body back to normal pH/homeostasis) ✖Dehydration potential ___ Alllllll that good stuff said, tips before wine night: ✔Make a simple substitution if ya do decide to stick within a certain caloric intake for the day ✔Drink water in addition to your drank! ✔HAVE FUN + don’t sweat it! One thing I've had trouble with is muscle growth in my upper body. Is it genetics? I dk! But what I do know is nutrition is a huge factor. So about prior to a month ago, I would fast (even after all my hard workouts) until noon so I could 🐷 out the rest of the day!🤣. While I was purchasing my usual level 1 protein I decided to read up on other supps and came across Ignition from @1stphorm. Ignition immediately restores glycogen that aids in protein sythesis to help muscle growth and repair that I just totally been killin everyday and not replacing fast enough to get the most from my workouts. Yeah I could start eating fruits and other food sources but hey I'm an impatient person 🙄🤣. It made total sense so I decided to switch things up and started using it with my level 1 post workout instead of fasting.
