That post-workout glow ✨ I made a commitment to myself while I was pregnant with Wes that I wouldn’t put myself last. I would make myself a priority. As a mom I think it’s only natural to put our children and partner’s needs ahead of our own, but I’m making a solid effort to take time for myself. Whether it’s a 10-25 minute @garagemethod workout, an hour long @birthfit flow, or simply choosing to walk Mia to preschool rather than driving, I’m giving my body what it craves: movement. How are you making yourself a priority today? #motherhood #momlife #momstrong #fitmom #birthfit #thegaragemethod #health #healthcoach #wellness #selflove #selfcare #exercise #postpartum #postpartumlife #postpartumfitness #postpartumworkout #pregnancy #homeworkout #crossfitmoms #crossfitgirls #crossfit

36 weeks tomorrow. And yes, I can still workout with some appropriate adjustments here and there. Today’s class workout: 20:00 AMRAP 5 heavy deadlifts 10 pull ups 200m run 1:00 rest —— My Preggo version 5 moderate *elevated deadlifts I can move comfortably without strain 10 underhand ring rows 8 calories on the bike 1:00 rest —— I liked this one because of that built in rest. All goes back to what is my intention behind training these days? To prepare for birth. Work hard, rest hard. With baby #3, statistically speaking it should “go faster”, but I still want to be prepared for anything 😉 ———— @birthfit @birthfitcoach @birthfithouston #movementislife #movewithintention #crossfit #birthfit #fitness #mindset #nutrition #36weekspregnant #fitpregnancy #babymonzy2

How do I do it all? Mom. Wife. Food source. Mom boss. Entertainer. Comforter. Keeper of all things. How do I do it all and maintain balance? How do I get everything done? It's easy. I don't. Balance isn't doing more. #birthfit isn't about doing more. It's about respecting where we are RIGHT NOW. If the baby was up all night, it may be a great day to skip the gym, take a nap and focus on eating well. Maybe the babe slept like a superhero and you feel refreshed, go ahead and hit the gym... Do what works for you at this moment. I love the Traditional Chinese Medicine outlook on balance. It's the yin and yang of the world. It isn't always a static 50/50 balance, it's dynamic and changes to meet our current needs. The goal is to cultivate balance in the long term, not maintain strict balance every moment. When I look at balance this way it's easier for me to "let go" and accept that I may not be doing everything I want to right now but that doesn't mean I won't regain that balance in the future. Parenting is hard. Things don't necessarily get easier... they just change. As our kids grow, we do too. We get a better handle on the ins and outs of life. If you're struggling to find balance postpartum, give yourself grace. Do what you can now and acknowledge how awesome of a job you are already doing. #fitness #nutrition #mindset #connection #newmom #newmomstruggles #momlife #postpartum #postpartumfitness

Did you know your uterus is made up of muscular tissue? And that contractions are muscular contractions? It’s like you’re doing strict pull ups over and over and over… and over. No wonder it’s painful! Knowing how the uterus is working to dilate your cervix through muscular contractions can help us prepare our bodies to have effective labor. If you’re preparing for a weightlifting competition, or long-distance race, you’re going to do some prep work, including in the nutrition department. Suggestions when preparing for a serious athletic event apply for labor preparation. It is, afterall, likely the most athletic event of your life! What you can do to help nourish and prepare your uterus to function at tip-top shape: • Eat. Our tummies often don’t feel like holding much in late pregnancy, but still making sure you have a good balance of protein and complex carbohydrates will help your uterus have the energy and nourishment it needs to have effective contractions. • Hydrate. Not just water, but electrolytes. Sodium and other electrolytes are necessary to create electrical impulses that regulate nerve and muscle function. Electrolyte tablets like Nuun, or having some coconut water with added sea salt and some lemon juice can help keep up those minerals you need for adequate muscle contraction. • Rest. Yep, that annoying thing we keep getting told to do, but we’re giant, uncomfortable, and waking up every hour to go to the bathroom. Not to mention all those nesting urges to clean every square inch of your home. I assure you, resting is going to help you save your energy for when your body needs it most. Stress hormones rise when we don’t get enough sleep, making everything that much more difficult. Maybe you’re not getting a lot of hours, so quality over quantity is essential. Stay away from blue light at least an hour before bed, sleep in complete darkness and keep the room cool. All of the above are beneficial throughout labor. Honey sticks, homemade gummies, fruit pouches and electrolyte drinks are go-to’s for mama’s who can stomach anything during labor, to stave off exhaustion, dehydration, and keep uterine contractions productive.

That loving feeling ❤️. Here’s a quick visualization exercise for my #breastfeeding mamas to help increase #milksupply and encourage #letdown. Bring to mind a moment where you felt pure love for your baby (for me it’s that moment when they first put Kira on my chest). Bring this moment to life - become aware of how you felt in your body, your emotions, the colors around you, the details of your baby’s face, hair, hands etc. Practice visualizing this image every time you pump or nurse your baby. The more you practice the easier it becomes to enhance the oxytocin levels in your body even when you may not be able to be with your baby! . . . . . #mama #mamas #hypnobirthing #birthfit #baby #love #southbay #hypnotherapy #feelings #southbayhypnobirthing #imagery #visualization

P O S T P A R T U M F I T N E S S P A R T 1 • Pregnancy, birth and labor changes us. Physically, and emotionally. We live in a world where busy, and checking all the things off on to-do lists are celebrated and praised. The faster we go back to work and “get our bodies back” better! It makes us feel strong, worthy... That kind of mindset creates a lot of stress and pressure on a new mother. Trying to heal from birth and labor, learning to breastfeed, taking care of a newborn is taxing. It takes a lot longer then 6 weeks to heal and recover. In other countries, mothers are given up to one year of leave to heal and bond with their babies! Here in the U.S., we are given only 6-12 weeks...... Think about this: if you were to have surgery on your shoulder, you would take the time to rest/recover, rehab and rebuild, which could take up to 6 months or more. Postpartum is no different. Here are some general guidelines, remember every person, every birth is so unique. Caesareans, vaginal tears, could take longer to heal. BIRTHFIT is: 0-2 weeks co-regulation 2-6 weeks recovery 6-12 weeks rehabilitation 3-12 months of rebuilding Give your self space and grace, embrace this new chapter in your life. Take your time to heal properly, bond with your baby. Slow is fast. #birthfit #postpartum #spaceandgrace #rebuild #recover #breath #baby #pregnancy #pelvicfloor #postpartumdepression #postpartumanxiety

Part 1. The Journey: I’ve taken a bit of time off from posting as we are finding our new rhythm. It has been 5 weeks of loving on baby girl, healing my body, taking care of two other younger children, and learning how to groove as a family of five. As I have reflected on Jades birth I have not forgotten the process it took to have her. Before her conception it took us nearly 9 months to get a positive result. This was a very long 9 months of trying, being hopeful, disappointment, few tears, lots of prayer, and fine tuning of lifestyle and nutrition. I was certain I would become pregnant much faster because of my other pregnancies. I know there are many women who have experienced a much longer and challenging journey and I truly believe you are some of the most strongest women out there. Everyone has a unique story. Two great examples, one of dysfunctional core engament and the other of a functional core engagement. If you ever see your abdominals looking like the first picture, this is your body telling you that that movement is no longer appropriate for you. It's not a bad thing, it's just good feedback so you can minimize your DRA during pregnancy and have a faster recovery postpartum. 👇👇👇 Reposted from @birthfitprofessional (@get_regrann) - :Clinical Insight: Diastasis Rectus Abdominus These photos are of the same woman, 38 weeks pregnant. Photo 1: abdominal crunch/mini sit up. This movement is typically recommended in aesthetic based training but if not aware is also frequently seen in day to day activities such as getting up from laying down, sitting back from reclining, etc. Photo 2: Functional Progression 2 This is one of our faves for oblique activation and reduced diastasis with major bonus ❗pelvic floor activation❗ Recommended in all @birthfit programming and with awareness can be used in rolling to the side to get up from laying and elbow or side support if necessary to stand from seated. Same woman, one day apart, different awareness and movements. #FunctionalProgression provides instant feedback that she has the tools to core strength [and reduced diastasis]. #birthfit #fitness #mindset #nutrition #connection #birthfitprofessional #functionalprogressions #diastasis #dra #corehealth #pelvicfloor #birthfiteagan - #regrann

Greens, nut milk, MCT oil, collagen protein, berries, avocado... nutrition is just as vital as your #fitness. As mamas we can easily burn the candle at both ends, and live off of bites of the food we’re prepping for our kids, or coffee and protein bars in the process. I know I’ve been there. But how long will that sustain you? How long will that nourish you? How long will that satiate you? In your #nutrition don’t look at like what you can restrict to better serve you, look at what you can add. When that happens, a lot of the junk tends to dissipate. Do you need more greens today? More protein? More nourishing fats? More hydration? Start there. You’ve got this mama. #birthfit #4pillars #takecareofyou #motherhoodtransition #nourish #refine

✨Mindfulness✨ - Being present in your body is just as valuable as being present in this moment. It helps us engage and honor our mind, body, and soul in every minute of our day. - As I was reading #realfoodforpregnancy, Lily spoke on mindful eating and how it impacts the food quality and quantity that we eat. Mindfulness is huge in our nutrition and it extends into every realm of our day to day living. - One way I have incorporated mindfulness into my movement practice is turning off the music and listening to my body instead of my headphones. - How do you incorporate listening to your body throughout your day? - Quote in picture: #realfoodforpregnancy - #fitness #movement #nutrition #mindset #mindfulness #connection #listentoyourbody #birthfit #birthfit_newton

These numbers should rock you. What may also surprise you is these numbers are based on only pelvic dysfunction labeled as incontinence or prolapse. Pelvic dysfunction can present as so much more than that yet with just those three diagnoses alone 30+ million more women are projected to suffer by the year 2050. And guess what else, there is no statistical difference between vaginal birth and cesarean birth in regards to these outcomes. If you want to be part of the answer, join us in one of the two upcoming seminars! P O S T P A R T U M One of the biggest surprises in my prenatal visits is creating a postpartum plan. Our culture spends a lot of energy on creating a birth plan, our postpartum healing is often left out. A lot of physical, emotional, and spiritual healing needs to happen after pregnancy/birth. Planning for this l time in your life is so important. Society puts unrealistic demands on mothers, expecting us to go back to work after just 6 weeks. Expecting us bounce back and pick up where we left off, is completely unrealistic. our bodies go through so much during pregnancy, labor and birth. Healing takes time. Bonding with your baby, and figuring out their needs with little to no sleeps takes time. 6 weeks is not enough. And often times, 6 months isn’t enough. Have you thought about your postpartum plan? What does that look like for you? What does nutrition look like? What does your rehab look like? Who can you call to help support you? What does healing look like after a caesarean? I’d love to help you navigate this journey! I am for you, and I am here for you! #postparum #birthfit #strongasamother #fitness #nutrition #mindset #connection #postpartumanxiety #postpartumdepression #postpartumnutrition #babyblues This week i will be sharing some info on how to navigate postpartum through BIRTHFITS 4 pillars, Fitness, Nutrition Mindset and Connection!

FITNESS and PELVIC HEALTH Check out the @deuce_gym blog from Friday, July 19. The Functional Progression is highlighted as a key tool in overcoming obstacles of pelvic floor dysfunction. The Functional Progression was designed right here at BIRTHFIT Wisconsin by @emomdc and has helped humans all over the world connect to their bodies in new ways and decrease a wide array of pelvic dysfunction and more. 15 weeks pregnant! We are over 1/3 of the way done! I have embraced maternity clothes! I have also started to modify most workouts! I have said good bye to Kipping pull ups, toes to bar, the jump rope, snatches and cleans with barbell, handstands, sit ups and many variations, and box jumps. Most of the movements I can still do without discomfort I have chosen to stop because the stress and risk of injury are not worth the reward! #15weekspregnant #babynumberfour #preschoolertenley #toddlerkipton #preschoolerteagin #birthfit

✨CONNECTION✨ The fourth BIRTHFIT pillar is extremely important during the motherhood transition. Connecting to oneself, to your partner, to your community and to amazing perinatal providers is essential for healing, feeling supported, understood, and fulfilled during this journey. I have been blessed to find some of the best providers in our community since my motherhood transition 7+ years ago and in the line of work I do, mothers and children need to know they will be referred to someone they can trust. I love that my “list” of great providers is always expanding, and I thank each and everyone of you for contributing to better mental, physical and emotional health for the mothers and families in our area. The prenatal series I hosted this weekend just concluded with two lovely couples who left feeling informed and empowered... AND with a list of trusted providers who they may need as they head towards parenthood. 💚 #birthfit #birthfitwestbroward #fitness #nutrition #mindset #connection #prenatalcare #postpartumcare #empoweredmamas #empoweredfamilies #motherhoodissisterhood #grateful #perinatalproviders #birth #birthworkers #doula #postpartumdoula #mentalhealth #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapist #birthphotographer #babynurse #chiropractor #tongueandliptie

“We learned that the @birthfit Functional Progressions were developed after watching babies heal their own natural born-with-it abdominal separation. You can see on this sweet baby where the pressure bulges out on the belly, right down the middle- much like what happens while you are pregnant and do a movement that causes pressure to bulge out (sit-ups, pull-ups etc). Babies don’t do a 6-week online course to heal their separation NOR do they have surgery NOR do they rush the process. They have this separation for a long while... and as they grow and meet milestones, the separation closes.⁣ ⁣ It’s another reason that you should allow your baby to have skill appropriate play- meaning not putting them in positions that they can’t get to on their own. Like the ONE SHE IS IN in this video! (She was only there for a minute😜). Rushing the stages isn’t necessary... they come as baby is ready!⁣ ⁣ As for you Mommas- same goes. Don’t put your bodies in positions that you’re not ready for during and after pregnancy.” @babiesandbarbellsrgv Repost from @birthfit_chicago_western_burbs ⁣⁣⁣⁣ #BIRTHFIT #Fitness #Nutrition #Mindset #Connection #BIRTHFITIthaca #PostpartumSeries #PostpartumIsForever #MovementIsLife #UnitedInLove @birthfit_ithaca_ny @birthfit @birthfitcoach @birthfitprofessional @pallas.ithaca

At 29 weeks pregnant, I’m doing my best to stay active and have fun because that is how I feel my best. However, I am very intentional with my activities/workouts. SUPping usually involves a ton of core stabilization, and I have switched my technique to utilize more of my lats and less abs. Although I do not feel any diastasis recti (ab separation), I still asked nick to check me for “coning” while I was paddling, because pregnancy fitness is so much more than “just listening to your body” and I want to make sure I do everything I can to create a healthy body for me and the baby, now and in the forever postpartum phase. #pregnantpostartumathlete #birthfit #Repost @toekneetoe12 (@get_repost) ・・・ Using that #functionalfitness on #fundaysunday it was great to get outside and relax 😎 ☀️ #ngokamotostrength #pregnant #pregnantfitmom #fitmom #fitgirl #fitnessbaby #pregobelly #pregnancy #pregnantbelly #fitness #outdoors #crossfit #crossfitcommunity #crossfitlife #noexcuses #paddleboarding #roguefitness #inov8training #fitfriends

When I created my business BODYFABULOUS I wanted to help as many Mama's and Mama's to Be. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I had just journeyed through my own first pregnancy and recovery...which taught me SO MUCH (despite being in the fitness industry for over a decade) 🤔 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I wanted to created a Pregnancy Fitness Method that was tailored to how I wanted to continue to workout during pregnancy, that wasn't "just SAFE", but was FUN and created long lasting effective results. Results that could start during pregnancy, continue postpartum and into motherhood (like now 11 years after my first birth). And allow women to get back to the workouts they have LOVED prior to pregnancy. 💕 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most importantly I wanted a program that helped women learn how to cherish their bodies BOTH physically and mentally as they journeyed through this precious (and challenging time) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love coaching women one on one, I still provide a mobile personal training service as I understand how hard AF it is too leave the house with a baby and the anxiety of putting them in a gym creche (so been there !!) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As globally certified pregnancy and postpartum trainer I love connecting with women all around the world, especially those in remote locations in both Australia and other countries. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This should be an exciting time of your life. So let me do the fitness programming so you can focus on the things that matter ! bodyfabulous.com.au . . . #brisbanemums #mumsandbubs #brisbanemumsandbubs #instapreggo #preggofit #pregnancytrainer #certifiedtrainer #pregnancyfitness #preandpostnatal #bodyfabfit #healthypregnancy #losebabyweight #postpartumbody #prenatalworkout #pregnancyexercise #fitpregnancy #preggo #mumfit #birthfit #preggers #healthypregnancy #pregnancyworkout #pregfit #pregnancywellness

I'm lovin' this video from #birthfitcoach @babiesandbarbellsrgv. In the middle of all the judging I did yesterday (at a competition), I spotted a familiar couple, Oscarina & Tiago! This beautiful couple came to my BIRTHFIT Prenatal Series and asked great questions - we both grew in that series! But it was definitely one of my favorite moments of the day when I saw them yesterday! Thank you for stopping by and saying hello! _ I was so honored that they had asked me to be their doula and sad I had to turn it down because I’ll be traveling in the next couple weeks. But I connected them with an amazing woman and doula, named Lauren. They are in such great hands. 🙏🏼 _ This was another reminder that these connections are so important and can be rekindled over time! Has it been a while since you’ve seen or heard from a mom? Birth partner? I want to encourage you to reach out... or better yet, just stop by. It’ll make all the difference 💛 _ @oscarinamelo , we are sending you all the love and birthing vibes, girl. You’ve got this! 🙌🏼 _ #connection #doula #birthfitnj #birthfit

#Repost @birthfit with @get_repost ・・・ Did you know that until 2006 the standard infant growth charts in the United States were based on a sample of formula-fed infants, all of the same race, socioeconomic status, and geographic location ? 😳 The Fels Longitudinal Growth Study was originally published in 1977 by the National Center for Health Statistics (became part of CDC) and later adopted by the World Health Organization to develop global growth curves for infants. However, what few failed to mention was that this study was only based on Caucasian, formula-fed babies 1929-1975 in Ohio!!! 😱 Growth curves that pediatricians we’re recommending up to 2006 were based on this one study in which the samples were not breastfed (even though WHO recommends) and only based on one racial and socioeconomic group. # So, imagine a mother, taking her baby into doc for checkup, and she’s doing the best she can and feeding 6 plus hours a day, only to be told that her babe isn’t gaining enough weight because her babe has been compared to a formula-fed babe, which grow differently! 😡 # In 2006, WHO released their own growth charts (and owned their mistake) based on 9000 babies that were exclusively breastfed for 6 months. Studies have also been done to compare the growth patterns of formula vs breastfed babes. A big finding was that breastfed babes GROW SLOWER. Next time you hear “not gaining enough weight” check the growth chart that your doc is using.💡📷: @lydiakia #birthfit #fitness #nutrition #mindset #connection #movementialife #checkyodoc #breastfeedingisnotacrime

Crosspost since I’m back up in here #Repost @wonderbrenna with @get_repost ・・・ BREASTFEEDING MOMS- here are some stretches for you! My arms/hands have been hurting and going numb/tingling. I know it’s from breastfeeding and holding a baby.... and probably holding my phone, too, while I do those things. In addition to getting a chiropractic adjustment you can also do these stretches. If you’re a crusty bundle of knots like me, you need these🤣 . 1. Stretch your wrists palm out and palm in with your fingers pointed down. You can push against a wall, use your other hand for resistance or even do them on the floor (see 4) Do 10-20 seconds each side. . 2. Use a doorway or a band for resistance and stretch your arm out to the side, overhead and then across your chest. About 10-20 seconds each. . 3. Pretend you have a pencil in between your shoulder blades and squeeeeeeze it. Arms bent outwards from the elbow at the hip (does that make sense? Look at the video🤣). . 4. There’s your wrist stretch again but this time I’m using a bench so I can put a little more weight into it. . 5. Use a stick, a broom, a band or a towel and stretch up overhead and behind your back. Then side to side. I’m literally a bundle of knots from this hunched over nursing business. I definitely have to make time to DO THESE STRETCHES because I am HURTING. I felt so much better after an adjustment and doing these. #breastfeeding #stretches #breastfeedingproblems #birthfitcoach #birthfit @birthfitcoach

How LONG do you WORKOUT FOR ? Is a question I am often asked 🤔 There are 2 things that should determine our workout length... 1. The time you have to actually workout (hello #mama and #busylady) 2. Your energy levels✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Never feel like you "need" to workout longer to get results. Because this does not matter. 🙅🏻‍♀️ It is the QUALITY NOT QUANTITY that counts. Also what you have done during your day...such as pushing a heavy pram, carrying groceries or a toddler. It counts, that is all incidental exercise and is probably why your energy level is feeling slightly lower. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For me... 💕Sometimes I do workouts that are 10 minutes long simply focusing on my deep core, breath connection, mobility and stretching. 💕Sometimes I do workouts that are 20 minutes long including a warm up at the start 💕Sometimes if I have lots of energy and time - it might be 90 minutes long including mobility work, rest periods as I do HIIT and possibly a stretch and swim at the end. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Those super long workouts however are not very common as I simply don't have the luxury of time #mamaof3 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Plus I have also learned with a simple proven program I can be just as effective in 20 minutes. Therefore I don't feel the NEED to workout for extend periods of time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I used to create ridiculously long workouts ..including instructing 2 classes in a row then running on a treadmill afterwards for 30 minutes !! #crazytown 🤪 All that resulted was injury, depletion and my body clinging to fat as my cortisol levels were so high. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Stop feeling like your workouts need to be a certain length or they are "not worthwhile" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It is not the TIME. It is the CONSISTENCY - that makes magic happen ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ xx Dahlas . . . #prenatalworkout #pregnancyexercise #fitpregnancyjourney #healthypregnancy #pregnancyzone #birthfit #postpartumbody #safepregnancy #happypregnancy #preggers #preggoproblems #pregnancyblog #mummblogger #brisbanemums #sydneymumsandbubs #mumlife #momtobe #fitmommy #fitmamma #brisbanemumsandbubs #brisbanemama
