Saturday workout: 10 x 15 Wall balls 4 DB Snatch ( I alternated each round of wall balls with kettlebell swings) . My hips haven't felt the best after high rep squats lately so I'm being mindful of not over doing it. I halve reps or modify the movements to reduce reps in workouts that I think may aggravate my pelvis and sacrum. I'm also really noticing the extra 'weight' while moving in general which has been challenging mentally. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I LOVE this mantra! Experimenting with veggies and different flavors can be so much fun! It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when you fall down the online recipe rabbit hole... but trial and error and more trial and error is one of the best ways to learn what you enjoy 💚

Great post on stretching for Breastfeeding Mamas! Posted @withrepost@wonderbrenna BREASTFEEDING MOMS- here are some stretches for you! My arms/hands have been hurting and going numb/tingling. I know it’s from breastfeeding and holding a baby.... and probably holding my phone, too, while I do those things. In addition to getting a chiropractic adjustment you can also do these stretches. If you’re a crusty bundle of knots like me, you need these🤣 . 1. Stretch your wrists palm out and palm in with your fingers pointed down. You can push against a wall, use your other hand for resistance or even do them on the floor (see 4) Do 10-20 seconds each side. . 2. Use a doorway or a band for resistance and stretch your arm out to the side, overhead and then across your chest. About 10-20 seconds each. . 3. Pretend you have a pencil in between your shoulder blades and squeeeeeeze it. Arms bent outwards from the elbow at the hip (does that make sense? Look at the video🤣). . 4. There’s your wrist stretch again but this time I’m using a bench so I can put a little more weight into it. . 5. Use a stick, a broom, a band or a towel and stretch up overhead and behind your back. Then side to side. I’m literally a bundle of knots from this hunched over nursing business. I definitely have to make time to DO THESE STRETCHES because I am HURTING. I felt so much better after an adjustment and doing these. #breastfeeding #stretches #breastfeedingproblems #birthfitcoach #birthfit @birthfitcoach

MEAL PREP HACK 🔹 Over my wellness journey, I’ve learned that when it comes to food I’m suuuuper lazy #truthhurts SO I’ve learned that cooking up a large amount of protein on Sunday and reheating through the week works best for me! I keep the chicken whole after it comes off the grill and then use my kitchen scissors to cut up and measure the protein! Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!

Shout out to the moms today! Because momming is a full time job! It’s not always glorious, never easy, a day in and day out, night in and night out job, around the clock, ceaseless, exhausting to the core that reverberates into your bones. Full time stay at home mom or working mom, breastfeeding or formula feeding, it’s ALL demanding! Women are incredible human beings that are strong and powerful. And somehow balance it ALL. C O R E. All movements are translated through the core; therefore, the core needs to stabilize and then transfer load efficiently. This is crucial for adapting to postural changes during pregnancy, supporting the demands of labor, and healing in the postpartum period. Postpartum is a beautiful opportunity to recalibrate the entire body and return to a solid foundation. The BIRTHFIT core is not unnecessarily holding tension as this inhibits the diaphragm. Progress is not linear. There are ups and downs. It’s very dependent on your circumstances, the work you are putting in, and your mindset. To me this is a PR today! Meet Lauren and her baby, Brooke! They are this weeks’ feature Mama/Baby pair for our July Postpartum Fitness group! Brooke enjoyed CrossFit, weightlifting, Pilates and more before getting pregnant. As she explains, her Why for joining is, “Before my pregnancy exercise was a big part of my life and daily routine. It made me feel like myself. Then I experienced having little energy during pregnancy, and I just didn’t find time or the chance to exercise. Now that’s she’s here I’m feeling like myself again, and I just want exercise to be a big part that.” I can relate to this big time! Motivation for Lauren looks like...”To show Brooke strength. Not just physical but mental by doing something hard or that you’re not good at, but you just keep trying.” I asked Lauren to share something unique or funny about Brooke coming into the world and she said, “During the blurriness of after birth with Brooke on my chest and adoring her, I started counting her fingers and toes and I counted 6 fingers! She clearly doesn’t have 6, but mom brain has already set in!” Thanks so much for joining this series Lauren and Brooke, and for sharing something true for you. BIG NEWS ✨✨✨ Incredibly grateful for the opportunity to partner with these rockstars to serve our Nashville community 🙌 ... ... Posted @withrepost@marissa.reese And the big news is… WE ARE OPENING A GYM!!!! Praxis Strength will open its doors at the end of October (god willing🤞)! I can’t believe it is actually happening! Opening a strength and conditioning gym that focuses on helping individuals realize a stronger and healthier self through dynamic and powerful weightlifting paired with smart conditioning, and personalized nutrition in a safe, welcoming, and community driven environment has been a dream of mine for a long time. By partnering with @austinjreese and @britteanderson this dream is actually coming to fruition and in a major way. * Praxis : Greek for “to do”. The process by which a theory, lesson, or skill is enacted, practiced, embodied, or realized. This definition encompasses what we want to do at Praxis Strength. We want to help people see their strength and power fully realized. Also, we want to break off the intimidation factor of strength training through inclusivity and proper education. * At Praxis Strength our goal is to create a welcoming space that embodies building strong and healthy humans through sustainable programing, evidence based nutrition with @workingagainstgravity , prenatal and postpartum specific coaching through @birthfit_nashville , and childcare for families, all while cultivating a supportive and encouraging community. * Stay tuned for more updates and watch the transformation of our space. Homegirl @wonderbrenna couldn’t of had said it any better! I feel our community needs more unity and support in the fight to obesity, diabetes, and all other silent killers we allow to take over our health! WE SUCCEED BY ELEVATING & EMPOWERING OTHERS! •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••@wonderbrenna Gym community! The missing piece! It’s super hard to find a true gym community at a Globo gym. When you work out at a “box” (it doesn’t have to be an affiliate; ours isn’t) there’s such a huge opportunity for you to join the community. People hang out, talk, become actual friends, start doing all sorts of stuff together, get so close they HAVE THEM OFFICIATE WEDDINGS, they get to know your kids (cause your kids get to come too!), ... it’s just different. And for a mom- especially in that post partum period- a community is majorly important. The isolation you can feel as a new mom is REAL- I’ve felt it each time! So even if you’re not feeling the workouts just yet- like you’re not READY-ready, maybe just try hanging out and stretching at the box with your baby, do light band work, and maybe some bodyweight movements. Don’t stay away! The longer you stay away the harder it will be for you to go back. I’m having a blast with our new @vikingsbrownsville Coach G-hizzle. She did my postpartum workout with me today and it was helpful to have her there to push me when I was like “ugh nah naaaaah.” But also this workout was killer- coulda been worse though. POSTPARTUM: the quest back to yourself, alone in your body again after pregnancy. Healing doesn’t just happen in a 6 week get your body back program. It’s happens slowly and intentionally. We focus not only on rehabbing physically, but emotionally, and spiritually. Connecting to who we once were and embracing who we are becoming. Postpartum lasts as long as your a mother. This is what we’re talking about when we talk about stacking the diaphragm over the pelvis. 👏 take a mental note and think about this next time you’re squatting. Next time you’re around a toddler, observe their squat. Hi 👋🏼! Jessica is 12 weeks postpartum and just started working with me to continue her healing process. Here you see her working on the @birthfit functional progression #1. Her goal is to eventually move one arm and the opposite leg simultaneously during this movement, but we are going S L O W. She has some mild diastasis (ab separation) and moving both is a little too difficult right now, not to mention some slight shaking and coning of the abs when lowering her leg too far. We both know slow is FAST. We want to move correctly in order for the healing to happen. When you rush a movement and push through pain, you risk making it worse! Oh, and that is her cutie that I can’t get enough of! So happy to be working with these two beauties over the next several weeks! 💖 #birthfit #birthfitcoach #postpartum #postpartumfitness #postpartumjourney #slowisfast #fitpregnancy #fitmama #crossfitmom #crossfitgirls #ocathletix #sanclemente #crossfitsanclemente #sanclementecrossfit

@jennajeffrey_birthfitcoach

I am so excited to share with you my new website jennajeffrey.com.au! 🥳 . About 3 months ago, actually the day before I found out I was pregnant, I tweaked my back rendering me horizontal for 3 days and unable to do anything physical for 5. While incredibly annoying it was actually a blessing. I was fortunate to have 5 full days to go deep on my new path. I had been meditating and sitting with the this gut feeling for quite a few months. I knew that my path was leading in the direction of women’s support and empowerment, that eventually I would feel in my power to push forward. That week of immobility created the opportunity to dig deep, build my brand, find my values and create an image of myself that I could present that truely represented who I am now in this present day, in the future and what I have to offer. It took a little longer to build then anticipated but here it is! . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hope to use this platform to communicate the importance of exercise during pregnancy and rehabilitation post partum but also operate as an information conduit for all the questions and unknowns this motherhood journey presents. I am also excited to share my story about conscious conception, intentional pregnancy, birth, postpartum & parenting through my blog. . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I look forward to connecting with all of you either online or face to face. 💕

You hear the term "neutral spine" a lot from trainers (or you should, at least), but it can be hard to know what that means, how it feels, and what that looks like. It can help you with tons of pregnancy “ailments” like achey legs, lower back pain, CONSTIPATION, circulation, STRESS. It can help reduce your chances of having an induced birth, a c-section (emergencies happen tho!), gestational diabetes. . I read this cool study that claimed there could be aerobic benefits to the baby in utero. How freaken cool is that? . Exercising while you’re pregnant also helps you with gaining the stamina you will need for whatever birth you end up having. Train to give birth; you train for every other huge athletic event, don’t you?! . I’m now in recovery and rebuilding but I am so glad I kept up what fitness I could while pregnant. I don’t have any separation of my abdominals (checked at 6weeks pp) not that you can see my abs yet (or ever) anyway 🤣🤣🤣. . TRAIN FOR BIRTH. Take care of that body before, during, and after! 🙌. . #trainforbirth #babybuilding #pregnancyworkout #postpartumbody #postpartumweightloss #fitmom #healthybabies #birthfitcoach #birthfit @birthfitcoach #babiesandbarbellsrgv @vikingsbrownsville #vikingsmoms @baobeimaternity

Prepping for our third daughter mentally and emotionally. I do know that a recent conversation of membrane sweep sparked something in me; it sparked a fear, a trigger, and the reality that I’m close to the end of this pregnancy. The fear and trigger are a result of my last labor and delivery. I’m thankful for this because it also gave me time to sit with it, process it, and see the fear. From there I was able to tell myself the fear was nonsense and had no reason to be in my mind or heart. I was able to use my tools from my therapist to compartmentalize the facts, fears, and myself. What would I tell a mom coming to me in this situation? What does my BRAIN analysis say? What do I feel? I have had the best pregnancy by far with Austynn, of my three pregnancies. I am fit, moving with intention, resting and stretching, eating good foods, hydrating, sleep could get some help, and I’m really listening to myself. She will be her within the next few weeks. That is a fact. We don’t know when she will arrive, how long I will labor, if I will tear, if my 2 older children will be home with us, how big she will be, or who she will look like. I do know we are ready for her, my daughters are excited and understand she will be coming out of my belly, I do know she will be born in her own home surrounded by love, support, strength, and grace. Praying for when our little Austynn James will make her arrival. Praying for myself that I can remove my own fears and trepidation’s as this believer unfolds so that I can 100% trust in myself, my baby, my husband, and our team. #birthtrauma #birthtraumarecovery #birthfit #birthfitcoach #cesareanbirth #vbac #hbac #homebirth #centralcoastcalifornia #santamaria #mamanatural #santamariamoms #orcutt #orcuttmoms #doula #midwife @alia_ @jjwaldram @pure.birth @kinshipmidwifery @christalroldan @mamanatural

This isn’t the first or the last time I’ll share, but, leakage, peeing your pants, incontinence, is not just something that happens when you have kids. It happens when: you have a weak core/pelvic floor, poor breathing mechanics, and poor posture. It is common after pregnancy, birth and labor due to the physical demands put on your body. But it’s not something you should have to deal with. In France, Mother’s are given up to 20 sessions with a pelvic floor therapist! In the U.S., we are cleared at 6 weeks postpartum with little to no guidance on how to rehab! We have to bring awareness to this issue and put in the work to educate ourselves on our health and wellness! Incontinence is a sign of dysfunction, can lead to many other problems. You shouldn’t have to worry about wearing a pad on double under or back squat day at the gym. You shouldn’t have to stop and go to the bathroom several times during your workout. You shouldn’t have to tell your kids you can’t jump on the trampoline with them or cross your legs and pray that you don’t pee your pants when you sneeze! These things can be helped, and it starts with building a strong functional core! You might be thinking, I’ll just do crunches and planks! But that could actually worsen your issues! Building a strong functional core actually begins with... breath!!!Want more info? Reach out to your local @birthfit Leader and/or PF Physical Therapist! Regain confidence and strength in all the things you love to do! #pelvicfloor #rehab #DRA #chiro #align #posture #birthfit #birthfitcoach #doula #girlswholift #strongasamother
