This beautiful tempel is the reason why we get to experience life and have the honor of moving our love/prayers through the world. It's so easy though, to get disconnected from the body and forget the beauty and the magic that it really is. We fall into patterns of ignoring the body's needs for rest, movement or specific nutrition. We loose our ability to listen to it's inherent wisdom and instead find ourselves feeding it somebody else's prescription of what they think is best. The intention of this workshop is to offer you a pathway back to listening to your physical body. To ground you in the safety and home of your form and re-root your ability to deeply listening to what is needed for YOUR unique body's thriving. NOW is a time to for coming home. Home to your vessel, to your prayer, to your intuition and to a place of harmony with your body. In partnership with acupuncturist Sophia Lowe, we will experience meditation, flow, extended savasana and acupuncture specifically designed to ground you and bring you back into deep communication with the physical body. We will have time before and after practice to ask questions, share our experiences and learn more about acupuncture medicine. I have made 3 mother essences and chose this one to commune with - Alyssum. I felt the loving welcome of this flower before I even took any. { why you shouldn’t get your workouts on Pinterest }⠀ ⠀ This is how I felt after digging through the 💩storm results from searching “pregnancy workouts” and “prenatal workouts” on Pinterest. ⠀ ⠀ Two and a half years ago, when I was pregnant with Evie I recall seeing 1 article about having a belly only pregnancy. When I searched yesterday there were SO MANY. Andddddd a whole bunch of articles on losing fat during pregnancy! ⠀ ⠀ There is so much to unpack in the messaging behind these posts. Our culture is so obsessed with thinness and making ourselves smaller that we are trying to teach and marketing to pregnant women to LOSE FAT WHILE THEY ARE PREGNANT?!? ⠀ ⠀ Think about that for a second. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ No. Really think about how f-ed up that is...⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Fat during pregnancy, and during postpartum and beyond is there for a purpose. Hormone production and regulation, a protective insurance policy to protect you and your growing baby if you were struck with a food shortage, AND it is unlikely that you will have a belly only pregnancy unless you carry a very specific set of genetics.⠀ ⠀ Just like you cannot spot target fat loss with specific exercises, you also cannot pick and choose where you body stores fat during pregnancy or any other time in your life. ⠀ ⠀ Don’t fall for the absolute BS marketing out there. Don’t get your pregnancy workouts from Pinterest. Don’t follow a prenatal program from an unqualified iNfLuEnCeR. Seek out a qualified professional (like myself), and if I’m not your jam I’d be more than happy to recommend some colleagues! We all just want you to have the absolute best experience possible during this journey.

In mijn vorige post schreef ik kort over onzekerheid. Ik vertelde dat iedereen wel eens onzeker is. Wat veel mensen niet weten is dat ik soms ook super onzeker kan zijn over sommige dingen. Denk dan aan die “te dikke” boven benen. Of die ene “vet ribbel” die je hebt als je zit. Maar eigenlijk is het toch super zonde van je tijd om de hele tijd onzeker te zijn? 💪🏼💪🏼 Ga uit je comfortzone, wees dankbaar voor de dingen die je hebt. Als je zit zal doen, zul je zien dat er mooiere en goede dingen op je pad zullen komen. En het belangrijkste f*ck wat mensen denken doe de dingen die jij wilt doen☺️ 🙌🏼 Liefs Iris 🥰

It may have taken 6 years but it’s only now after having my little girl that I feel like me again. Sounds insane doesn’t it, 6 years ! But it’s true. I don’t find being a mom easy, I’m sure a lot of you don’t either. Its been an emotional whirlwind challenge and I won’t lie, it still is 💛 as that’s who I am. And I can’t change that. Like some of you I’m sure we worry to much, think to much and analysis to a point of no return 🤣 But The one that has changed is that I truly do feel at ease in my own skin. For once I don’t care what people think about what clothes I wear and it’s so liberating to feel so proud of my OWN body. I don’t hide it like I used to. Or get embarrassed to show it. And at the ripe old age of 43 it feels so liberating to feel so comfortable with who I am. It’s so true when they say what holds you back will set you free ! You don’t read this stuff in books or on ted talks for nothing. It’s because it’s real and once you start to love who you are and be confident in what you can do everything changes. Family and friendship was created so everyone can feel loved. And everyone deserves to have that blessing in life ! 💛❤️🧡💙 Be confident in who you are and let your people love you for it ✅💕🥂🥂

Ok, this is no easy one to post... but it’s important to get it out there, as many, many people deal with similar issues, and if I can only reach one person - YOU - and show you you’re not alone in this, I’m grateful! • This photo I took feeling silly for a moment. Honestly though, since getting back from France, my health has been taking a dive. • I’ve been increasingly exhausted again (sometimes out of breath and body hurting just going up the stairs), feel like getting the flu, feverish, head and body aches, brain fog, can’t think clearly, etc. My immune system is down again. • I have been doing my daily stuff (barely), but have not been able to exercise (which I haven’t been able to do in months anyway), or practice yoga. Energy/motivation to work on my art, writing, or other projects is zero. Meditation, even though immensely helpful, my mind has been too cloudy to immerse in. • What is the reason for this dip? I do not know for sure. It could be because I did not watch my diet at all while in France and haven’t been since, and that gluten, dairy, sugar, etc. wreaked havoc on my system. It could be the thyroid meds I started before the vacation, which I initially thought were helping, but might ultimately be affecting me negatively. Also unclear of course how things affect you psychologically/emotionally and manifest in physical symptoms. • I hate being this way. I want to be healthy again like I used to be, have energy, strength, and motivation to exercise, and do all the things I want to do and achieve in my life. I had recovered nicely over the last months. • But things happen for a reason. Despite the frustration about my health and this state of my life, which is not how I pictured it to be, I have learned/am learning a lot. • Patience. Humbleness. Gratefulness. Balance. Self-Acceptance. Listening to/respecting my body and limits. And after every down, there’s an up for sure. I know things will fall into place eventually. • If you can keep that in mind, it is much easier to get through this, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start going again. 🙏🏼🙂 All the best to you, wherever you are in your life or health journey! 💛
