Fun Fact...💪🏽 I cracked my shin on a metal plyo box years ago leaving a nasty scar! Because of this I avoided #boxjumps for a long time. I've only used the soft boxes recently...until now! I was slightly intimidated by this box 😣 but I faced my fear and got it done. 1st metal box in 8 years!!! I was up before god and the mexicans to get to the gym to do fasted Cardio before the "snow storm" took place 😒 which was a beech ass snow storm btw. Lol, anyways, if you're ever tired of the stair master or treadmill you should try this for 20mins. #MotivationMonday #mm now I don’t know how accurate this scale is but I also weighed in at 259 and 262 pounds so your guess is as good as mine. That being said, this is the lowest I’ve weighed since my college basketball days. And even though I’ll probably never get down to 235 again, I could stand to lose another 12 pounds or so. All in all, I’ve nearly dropped 30 pounds over the course of 4 months. The number right now is 28 pounds down. I have a lot of people to thank for this but they know who they are. Swipe to see some more box jumps, which I think are certainly helping the cause. These are on level 6 and I’m doing this through pain in my lower back. It's Saturday, what are you guys up to today? While in the gym today I spoke to two very beautiful women about health and nutrition and I was so excited about it. I love answering questions about health and nutrition it keeps me sharp. On another note, today I did a lot of plyometrics in addition to my 30 minutes of cardio. I haven't done Plyometrics in such a long time because of my right leg. However, today I totally kicked all of my fears right in the face LOL take a look at this plyometric exercise and let me know what you guys think of it have you ever done it before? What muscle groups do you think this exercise targets? Stand for something that’s bigger than you, or in my case Jump for something Bigger than you💯 so Check this out😁 I set a new world record jumping with a BackPack 🎒 I have this desire to help people, and see them do good🙌🏾 I was blessed with this vision to help, and the Idea/inspiration to do BackPacks4Kids started along time ago💯 Back when I was 8 years old I had a really bad asthma attack that sent me to the hospital. My condition got worse as I stopped breathing on my own and I was put in a coma. The doctors told my parents they “lost” me, but they were trying. I wake up Easter Sunday like a complete miracle. (You can’t just time that) the first thing I wanted to do from coming out of the coma, was watch cartoons. Specifically Cartoon Network. Johnny Bravo was my favorite. Many years later I make a logo truly inspired by that moment. (Peep the avatar) However, my legs got weak during my time in the coma. I literally had to learn how to walk again. I left the hospital in a wheelchair🥺I spent 3.5 months in the hospital, missing a lot of school. Students and teachers wrote get well soon cards that I still have to this day. Some days I think about the kid I was laying in the hospital bed who couldn’t walk. Then it blows my mind that the same kid laying dead in the hospital bed grew up to do some pretty cool things athletically like break a world record for jumping 🤯🤯🤯🤯 Who does that?? IM BACK 🥊 . Under Doctors orders I had to take some time off from exercise, but I’ve been cleared and am officially back to work. To start off right, here is a mock MMA workout designed by @forcefitness_kyle if you don’t have someone to box with or a bag, I’ve listed additional options below... . Workout: 60 sec per Circuit Rest is moving from one station to the next x3 Rounds 1️⃣ Sled Push w-Rope Pull: We used a punching bag, but you can use plates and sliders to replicate. Bear crawl, focus on keeping glutes down, shoulders back and back flat 2️⃣ KB Swings 3️⃣ Hammer to Overhead Press - prevent elbow from bowing out, framing face. 4️⃣ Jump Rope 5️⃣ Box Jumps 6️⃣ Box & Kicks | 30 sec Each Side 7️⃣ Boxing 8️⃣ Balance Punches: Use knee to stabilize one leg on the bag, engage core and utilize it to drive force. | 30 sec Each Side 9️⃣ Elevated Burpees . If you don’t have some of this equipment, here are some alternatives: 1️⃣ Row | 60 sec immediately followed by 60 sec weights on sliders or bear crawls without weight 6️⃣ Box with Light Dumbbells and Kick: No partner needed, just make sure movements are quick. Are you training your FULL mechanics and dynamic movements? . . There are 3 muscle contractions with every dynamic movement. -Eccentric Phase -Isometric Phase -Concentric Phase . . Actually in that order. Every dynamic movement starts with an eccentric muscle action. The eccentric Phase is the Phase referred as the lengthening phase or yielding phase as the muscle is stretched due to the force of an imposed load. . . A very appropriate example of this would be when an athlete jumps, their hips drop into a slight dip, eccentrically lengthening the glutes and quads before taking off into the jump. (That is the eccentric phase) . . Pre-loading and counter movements are key in force production for athletes. . . All too often, we are only shown the concentric part of the movement. This is the very last part of the movement and the “explosive” part. This is when the athlete overcomes the force and jumps high, runs fast, cuts quick, etc. It doesn’t stop with just athletes. Ever since I personally can remember it’s always been about “how much weight can you bench?” People only care about the concentric part. The actual lifting or overcoming of the load. No one goes to the gym and ask someone “how much weight can you eccentrically decelerate with your chest?” We only care how much weight we can lift because it’s the part that is cool. Today's Workout Week 4 Day 1 of The Journey So this week we are testing 3RMs to see how the body has coped the last three weeks with the change in training to see whether I have gotten stronger or weaker. Be a good guage to see if we need to tweak anything moving forward. Today was Squats and Pull Ups. Squats haven't changed as I hit 180kg for 3. No way I could have done more in fact the last rep really hurt and I almost wasn't going to get it. The Starter and Finisher in this workout was also really long and tiring. Absolutely smashed me. Give it a shot! Little bit of booty action coming at you on this fine Monday evening! I was NOT feeling compound movements at the gym today (ie BB squats, deadlifts, hip thrusts m, etc) but still wanted to get in a good lower body session, so played around with a few exercises and mostly just had fun with it to shake of a little bit of unwelcome anxiety. - 🍑 The first video is a BB wide stance lunge; a GREAT exercise for glute isolation but also for mobility. Try to go as low as your flexibility will allow and make sure you’re having a proper mind/muscle connection with the glutes so you’re not straining your lower back. - 🍑 T-bar front loaded squats were also included today as I am currently sick to death of conventional BB squats but we all know that to keep it juicy you need to be squatting. Plus this allows you to get very deep into the movement and use some upper body strength. - 🍑 Lastly, I’ve been really trying to overcome my fear of box jumps as not only is it important that I can demonstrate them well as a part of my job, I am all about stepping out of your comfort zone and forcing away limiting beliefs. They aren’t perfect, but they’re getting there and my cardio fitness has increased to a v high level atm so it is getting easier.
