Happy Saturday This past year I constantly had to remind myself to breathe . It might seem like an impossible task鈥攖o relax and stay positive during one of the most challenging times that deal with a injury ! During that time of surgery and recovery I decided to put as much effort into my mental recovery as I did my physical recovery! If you鈥檝e ever been injured, you know that sometimes your body is healed before your confidence is. Your brain needs its own physical therapy to get back to the confidence and composure you felt before you got injured. One of the most amazing things about dedicating yourself to working on your mental fitness during your injury recovery is that all of those mental skills that help you develop your mental toughness continue to help you post injury as well. Coming back from injury can make it difficult not to gauge your feelings of success based on what you were able to do before you were injured. Additionally, one of the greatest challenges you face when injured is dealing with the setbacks that come along the way. Facing a setback right at that moment when you finally feel like you are making progress can feel devastating. This requires you to master the skill of goal adjustment. Your ability to adjust your goals and redefine what it means to be successful in that moment is imperative for keeping your head up and putting one foot in front of the other. When #lupus strikes again. Last week I was hospitalized for 6 days when Doctor sent me to ER for suspected kidney stone and it turned out to be so much more. I鈥檒l spare the details of how terribly off my blood/urine labs are but what should have been a quick day of IV steroid dose to calm the flare turned into emergency surgery, a kidney biopsy, lupus nephritis, vasculitis, lupus attack on my pancreas and gallbladder, inflammation and fluid build up in my abdominal cavity and 12 grand mal seizures later. Picture up top was me post kidney biopsy where they found I also have a rare disease that has only effected 0.012% of the world鈥檚 population, ever. Possible Lymphoma (getting those results back on Thursday), arteriosclerosis and tubular atrophy. I was discharged two days ago and today I am writing a book on my journey about Lupus, teaching my daughter her AP classes since she is homeschooled, completed some of my own schoolwork, prepping my house for the opening of my preschool, did yoga, and decided to go through my library of books to see what to keep and what to exchange for new ones. The hospitalist said it is my #healthylifestyle , #determination, #yoga, and clean eating that brought me out of ICU as quick as I did considering the #trauma my #body endured and home ready to conquer the world. This journey of disease and health will one day find a balance. Stay strong to all the #lupuswarrior, #chronicillness sufferers, and those with a (or in my case a few) #raredisease cases. There鈥檚 something incredible about what mental health has become. Yesterday I posted about my anxiety and panic disorder journey and I couldn鈥檛 be anymore surprised, grateful and whole for the responses I received. According to Instagram analytics I have reach over 45,000 people/accounts 馃槱馃槶. I was always one to talk about my anxiety, it gave me peace for people to know rather than having people questioning why I was being weird or why I didn鈥檛 want to go out that night. As I got an influx of messages I became so filled up just knowing how many people were touched by my post. Just knowing that someone else survived through it can be SO helpful and that was my intention. My freshman year of college I talked about my anxiety so much with such high hopes that SOMEONE would just say omg SAME instead of ugh I鈥檓 sorry that sucks.
