Brekkie (at lunch time) is raspberries, yogurt & banana 🍌 . Flaky ass biscuits, is what they call these in the Sqirl cookbook except that I didn’t use that recipe. I was a little shocked by the butter quantity in it. I can see how they would be extra flaky with all that extra butter. But reading that book made me really want to make some biscuits. I added some levain to my recipe just out of curiosity. It seems a little more moist but I can’t say for certain until I compare them side by side. These are very flaky, almost crisp on the outside with a moist centre. I’d like them to be fluffier so that they could hold up better through the day. Is it just an issue of adding more baking powder and soda? Although I despise shortening/ palm oil and will never use it, I can’t make an all butter biscuit with a better texture than some I’ve tasted that use it. Anyone have a fluffy, flaky biscuit recipe you’d like to share? Recipe (% of total recipe, not bread!): Butter 15.5% Flour 40% Baking powder 1.5% Baking soda 0.5% Levain 20% Cane sugar 2.5% Buttermilk 10% Cream 10% I mix all the dry ingredients together with butter that’s edamame bean size and frozen. In a blender, I purée the levain with all the wet ingredients, seasoning, and herbs. Apparently earlier this week it was #nationalpicnicday! The closest I got to a picnic was my six salads 🥗worth of veggies in my daily smoothie in my driveway - talk about an efficient picnic!🤣 . May I tell you a quick story about my smoothie habit? . Before I became a coach, I read The Brain Fog Fix, which I randomly picked up in #barnesandnoble - because who doesn’t want to kick brain fog!? . The doctor in it said Americans were vastly under-eating vegetables, and that approx. SEVEN servings a day is what was needed for clearer and optimal thinking. (Just quoting his opinion - not fact checking here!) . I of course began a smoothie quest and had Barker and myself in the kitchen blending up kale, spinach, flax, chia and all sorts of things to try and fit this in. Hours later... we had 2 smoothies and tons of dishes to wash! I thought HOW can I eat so many plants in one day?! #plantproblems . Plus, who can really eat that many vegetables when there are DONUTS and pizza and other good stuff calling our name at every corner? #thestruggleisreal . After searching for a different solution, I found @shakeology - which has six servings of veggies, supplements from all over the world, vitamins and probiotics, and protein in ONE bag. . who else loves breakfast for dinner?! 🙋🏻‍♀️ crunchy roasted potatoes were paired with @followyourheart vegan eggs and @morningstarfarms sausage patties for a delicious dinner that i would gladly eat for breakfast and lunch and every time in between! the only thing that was missing was a biscuit and a mimosa 🧡 these were a really close match to scrambled eggs, just without the unnecessary cruelty. {PS cage free doesn’t mean cruelty free. scroll for info!} if you have an egg allergy or aren’t fond of a tofu scramble, i’d highly recommend trying this product!

Straight from the apple orchard. Nature always does it best. Took the scenic route back from an Autumn escape in The Blue Mountains & stopped to pick some apples. I’ve never walked through an apple orchard. It was magical. Grandparents, parents & young children plucking apples off the tree and literally devouring them. It’s a terrible shame that our society has developed a taste for processed rubbish that companies cleverly market as ‘food’. The fallout is disastrous. The ☔🌧 weather is grey so I'm mixing up my Vitamin C Monster Smoothie Ingredients •1 cup orange juice •1/2 cup mangoes •1 banana, frozen •2 persimmons •1 scoop greek yogurt, optional •1/2 cup strawberries, optional Instructions Start with your OJ in the blender and mix in mangoes. Blend til smooth. Mix in a banana til smooth (I use frozen bananas so it makes the smoothie creamier). Peel 2 persimmons and toss them in and mix til smooth. Made too much? Freeze it in a single serving to meal prep it for later Optional: mix in strawberries and greek yogurt! Optional: top with slice banana and peanut butter chocolate granola (find the granola recipe on the blog!) at Toronto, Ontario
