Did you all see the latest study examining supermarket yogurts? We all know that yogurt, a fermented milk product, is an amazing source of protein, calcium, iodine, and most importantly, gut-friendly microbes! However, many food marketing companies are trying to sneak added sugars into our beloved yogurts, many of which are targeted towards children.⁣ •••⁣ Researchers assessed more than 900 yogurt products that line our shelves and placed them into 8 categories (children's, dairy alternatives, desserts, yogurt drinks, flavored, natural/Greek, and organic). The analysis showed that the average sugar content of all products was well above the recommended added sugar threshold recommended by the Dietary Guidelines, except for those from the natural/Greek group.⁣ •••⁣ Overall, only 9% of the 900 yogurts on the shleves were qualified as low sugar! In fact, in the children's products category, the average amount of added sugar per 100 grams of yogurt was 10.8 grams. Even the orgnanic yogurts, which have a bit of a "health-halo" to them, had high levels of added sugars.⁣ •••⁣ Although we love our natural sugars, it's a bit sneaky of these companies to "infuse" our yogurts with added sugar, particularly those who make yogurt products marketed towards children! BREAKFAST... I've discovered that if I don't have Oats, @weetabixofficial or @shreddedwheatuk for breakfast I always snack more so it's back to those for brekkie for me! 😍 This morning I had Salted Caramel and Chocolate orange Oats 😋 My fave!! I mixed 40g of Oats with a sachet of Options Salted Caramel Hot chocolate powder and water and popped it in the microwave for 1 min. I was planning on a breakfast of fruit... then this happened 😂 Grilled veggie wrap with sprouts, baked beans and bbq sauce. Yum! Almond milk coffee. Learn to listen to your body. What does it want? Need? It's really hard to ditch the diet mentality that has been drilled into us since birth. Small children have intuitive eating sorted... but we quickly ruin that for them. Learning to trust your bodies signals, and eat intuitively, ditching the crap diet culture "rules," is one of the toughest challenges I've faced. But it's the only way forward to true recovery, self acceptance and self love. Food is just food. And if I weigh a few kgs more because I'm trusting my body... so be it. My weight, or dress size, does not define me. I was running out of breakfast ideas and missing my fruit smoothies until I made this...here’s the recipe —> from the bottom: I mixed 6 tbsp coconut yogurt with 1 tbsp chocolate protein powder and 1tsp collagen powder. Then I added 1 tbsp chia seeds and 1 tbsp hemp hearts. Next I layered 1/4 cup sliced strawberries from @nudefruitcanada and topped with coconut butter. So good and tasted like my morning fruit parfait. Buonasera da me e dal mio #cicciopancake 🥞 al cioccolato 🍫 con un ingrediente a sorpresa: la #ricotta 🐮 che lo ha reso ancora più alto e soffice 💆‍♀️ Da piccola, anzi fino a qualche anno fa😏, sono sempre stata scettica sull'uso della ricotta nei dolci e, a dirla tutta, anche sulla ricotta come cibo in generale (non riuscivo ad apprezzarne la consistenza né solida né cremosa e il gusto neutro quasi salato). Boa tarde! Antes "à tarde"do que nunca 😂. Dia corrido, cheio de atividades. Teve café no horário mas postagem atrasada. Hoje tivemos no nosso café um pãozinho diferente, frutas, queijo, presunto e manteiga. O pãozinho (receita da @gritsandgouda), chamado biscuit e famoso lá fora, aqui é pouco conhecido. É rápido e fácil de fazer, e é preciso trabalhar um pouco com a massa apenas para incorporar ar, mas não é necessário esperar crescer (um viva!). Ele fica com uma aparência diferente mas com textura e sabor de pãozinho amanteigado. A receita original pedia farinha com fermento e sal (self-rising flour) e como não temos por aqui, acrescentei fermento e sal na lista de ingredientes. As kids torceram o nariz e preferiram comer os outros itens oferecidos, e super se interessaram pelo mini pêssego. Após um tempo, a pequena resolveu experimentar o pão e gostou (🎉) Segue a receita abaixo. Ah, como a receita é super fácil e a massa precisa ser um pouco trabalhada com as mãos, colocar as crianças para ajudar pode ser um bom passatempo. Enjoy! . . RECEITA: . . 2 xícaras de farinha de trigo . 1 e 1/4 xícara de creme de leite . 2 colheres de chá de fermento químico . 1/2 colher de chá de sal (ou à gosto) . . Aqueça o forno à 220 graus. Em um tigela, misture todos os ingredientes (a massa não fica bem homogênea) e transfira para uma superfície enfarinhada. Gentilmente pressione os pedaços de massa até formar uma bola. Salpique um pouco de farinha e trabalhe a massa com as mãos, dobrando uma ponta sobre a outra, para incorporar ar entre as camadas. Sua massa deverá ficar em formato retangular (veja foto), com uns dois dedos de altura. Usando um cortador de biscoito (eu usei a boca de um copo de vidro), corte círculos e coloque-os em uma assadeira untada. Asse-os por 15 minutos ou até ficarem dourados no topo. Aqui renderam 09 pãezinhos. Bom apetite!

Lots of questions about my breakfast this morning, so I thought I’d share the recipe! These Apple Pie Oats are creamy, high in protein, diary-free and sugar-free. They’re green because of the addition of @vitalproteins collagen beauty greens, which has been helping my post-baby hair loss. Recipe below 👇🏻, I’ll add it to the blog later today too. . . . . . . Ingredients: - 3/4 cup unsweetened cashew milk - 1 egg - 1/2 cup organic instant oats - 1 apple, shredded (skin on) - 1 tbs ground flaxseed - optional: collagen, cinnamon, peanut butter and any other toppings you want! Instructions: - whisk milk and egg in a small pot over medium heat until combined - add in oats, shredded apple, flaxseed and collagen - whisk over medium heat for ~5 min or until oats are soft. This was an attempt to coming up with an alternative to potatoes, so I could still have hash browns with my breakfast. I used the oatmeal that I posted about a while ago, where I said that you can also go the salty route with it... It looks like an Asian-food-bowl, if you wanna look for it. Anyway, this time is completely lactose-free, and if it wasn't for the caesin, it would be 100% dairy-free. . Underneath the eggs is a byson-salusbury-steak. . I baked both the overnight-oats-hash browns, and the Salisbury steak. As always in foil lined cast iron, to avoid needing to wash cast iron in the office. 450*F. 15 mins for the steak, 30 mins for the hash.... You could do less, but they won't stick together, or crisp up, if you go less. . #theofficechef

• BANANA OATMEAL PROTEIN PANCAKES {GLUTEN FREE} • ~ Quick and HEALTHY pancakes for any day of the week! ~ 🍌 Mash 1 medium ripe banana in a bowl with a fork. 🥚 Add 2 large eggs and mix until well combined. 🌾 Blend 1/3 cup oats in a blender until fine. 🥣 Add the blended oats, 1/4 tsp of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt to the banana mix and stir well. 🍳 Heat a pan over medium heat with a dash of your preferred oil. Pour 1/3 cup of the mix into the pan and cook on each side till golden brown (1-1.5 mins). 🥞 Serve with your favorite toppings and warm syrup on the side!
