Cedar plank salmon on the bbq. Probably one of the easiest things to make. ▪️Slap whatever you want on the salmon, in this case I used garlic and bbq sauce. Umm...THIS dessert was pretty AMAZING!⁠🤭 ⁠ If you caught my post yesterday (the "Sparkly Ginger Chip Cookies" from the #undietcookbook), here is Part 2!⁠ ⁠ I froze the cookies upon baking them, taking them out to thaw a short time before making these "Ice Cream Sandwiches". ⁠😍 ⁠ The incredible "Creamy Coconut Sorbetto" from @fiascogelato was the perfect fill - the epitome of a summer treat!⁠😎 ⁠ Due to the fact that the cookies were so fresh and soft, yet still firm enough from freezing, pressing the cookies down to flatten out the sorbetto worked very well!⁠👍🏻 ⁠ I can't get enough of these right now! SLEEP BETTER! 🛌 ⠀ ⠀ What the heck does that have to do with nutrition you may ask?🧐⠀ Wellllll, during sleep, a hormone called leptin, is intricately involved in the regulation of appetite, metabolism and calorie burning. Leptin is the chemical that tells your brain when you're full and when it should start burning up calories. When you get a full night's rest, your leptin levels increase, telling your brain you have plenty of energy and there's no need to trigger the feeling of hunger or the burning of calories. When you DON'T get enough sleep, you end up with too little leptin, which makes your brain think you don't have enough energy for your needs. The decrease in leptin from not getting enough sleep can result in a constant feeling of hunger and a general slow-down of your metabolism... ⠀ ⠀ AKA when you're tired, you will want to reach for the sugar to keep your energy levels HIGH! I definitely know I want alllllll the carbs when I'm sleepy...🙋🏼‍♀️😴⠀ ⠀ So what can you do about it? ⠀ Try these 6 tricks to reset your circadian rhythm and get more zzz's:⠀ 1. Aim to go to bed at the same time every night.⠀ 2. Use light-blocking shades on your bedroom windows, or use an eye mask to achieve optimal darkness.⠀ 3. Drink chamomile or kava kava tea in the evening. I also take passion flower or valerian root drops when I need the extra calm⠀ 4. If you drink coffee, aim to drink it before noon⠀ 5. Use apps like F.lux or Night Shift to block out the blue light in the evening⠀ 6.
