Orlando, Florida, we miss you ! Oh what good times we had back then. So grateful and glad that we have the strength and means to travel in this day and age where everything is so fast paced that we often never get the chance to really slow down to stop and appreciate ourselves and the world around us. The trip to Disney and Orlando is a classic. Definitely not in the realm of the most unconventional of holidays. But it was amazing. Seeing all the kids smile and enjoy themselves gave us a sense of vain, nostalgic pleasure and sense of security. We learned, or rather, we remembered how we acted when we were younger. We played till we dropped, we knew no limits, because they were not yet taught to us. We knew no pain because we had not yet felt it. For this we are grateful. Letโ€™s all be young again. I'm sorry to inform you all that this Twistees Lite Scandal going up from 99 to 200 Calories per pack really demonstrates a lack of understanding of nutrition basics on the part of the general public which needs to be addressed. Twistees Lite were ALWAYS REALLY 200kcal Per Pack. They had a misprint there. Now it is corrected. That's all. All those who thought they were consuming a 100kcal treat were having 200kcal each time all along. No its not because of an ingredient change. Twistees have 2 primary ingredients. Puffed Baked Rice (like ricecakes has 350-450kcal per 100g) and cheese (350-450kcal per 100g or over) ....how could a "dry" product have less than 200kcal per 100g and be any combination of the two above? Not logical. Twistees has and always will be in that 350-450kcal per 100g (around 200kcal per 50g) range snack, unless it changes its recipe .: taste completely. LEARN NUTRITION. I have seen scams fed to the DIET COMMUNITY for profit far worse than this probably honestly overlooked mistake by DL Foods. Luckily. Being flexible with your diet is great. We normally substitute an Oreo McFlurry, BK Fusion or a Medium Italian Gelato for one of our planned meals. But we make sure to do this only once a week. This still adds up to 440-480 calories - but does not have the same macronutrient & micronutrient profile as a healthy meal we'd eat for those same calories. Weight loss or gain will be the same due to calories, but mood and willpower will be tested. There are cases where being inflexible leads to eating disorders and creates the good food vs. bad food mentality. This is why we preach simple healthy meal plans in our Beach, Bikini and Vegan Body Programs (Link in Bio) In other cases like our FFL, a fast weight loss system will inevitably use more rigid methods to acheive more aggressive fat loss results. There is nothing better or worse. Using flexibility in a diet and employing rigidity are both essential skills. Yin & Yang. Integral sides to one and the same coin. Different approaches will work at different times for the same person, and obviously will be different for everyone. Not too different though. Calories are king. Macronutrients, meal timing, taste etc are all factors considered for the purpose of adherence. This was our weekend treat. So there's no quick โ€˜turn into a supplement-selling overnight coach after rapid weight lossโ€™ gimmick here. We took the time to learn how to stay fit through illness, injury, stress, work, study, joy, food and travel. We never dreamed we could really do it. I'll give you this tip you can use whenever you are bored or anxious. This works especially great if you are dieting down to lose weight. We normally give into cravings out of pure boredom or out of dissatisfaction caused by the uninteresting thing we're doing. Just before you give in. Interrupt this pattern, you know right beforehand that you're gonna cave right? You should stop doing nothing or stop the tedious task you're doing. Do something unexpected. Interesting. Try to get a random good looking photo. Text a friend. Go get a glass of water. Do something - even if you think you don't need it - even if it's just for a minute. Getting my picture taken with #thegreatest #ali always feels great. For all those who knew me when I was younger; you must all remember how I made the shift from fat to fit when I got into #boxing. Nothing too serious there, but this guy was one of my inspirations to be great. To be the best I can be in whatever I do. Even though today I'm into a broader definition of fitness, I do not punch bags, or people anymore; my respect for the sweet science sticks. I believe that like all organisms, we must exert ourselves physically, respond to threats and adapt to thrive. We are bipedal organisms with legs built for endurance, a trunk capable of rotation or anti-rotation and a complex shoulder girdle capable of great strength, mobility and most of all, stability. That being said, my philosophy of training has evolved into incorporating the necessary exercises and movements to stay injury free and limber, no matter what your specialty is. Also, if you're in it for fun (like me) there's no need to specialize. Being a student will always be more exciting than being the master. So play! Eat healthy, be present in you body. Dark Chocolate ๐Ÿซ = โค๏ธ InstaLove ! Just remember that all chocolate is about 550-600 Calories per 100g. A good dose of saturated fat and some sugar too. So read the nutrition label and consume in moderation. Also make sure to get at least 74% cocoa or more for less sugar and possibly more fiber. Bitter chocolate is healthier. Chocolate makes a great staple treat, but regardless of the health hype nowadays, it is not a staple food to stuff yourself with. I would like to thank all those who offered their support these past weeks. Finally, I came to terms with myself and went in for my shoulder surgery, surely nothing lethal, but for a 26 year old active person having to worry about an unstable shoulder while stretching, lifting or throwing is a bummer. So I traded another three months of patience for another shot at becoming the better version of myself. Thank you all, your messages were greatly appreciated, cookies devoured and concern heartfelt. "Shoshin" - the beginner's mind, free from prejudice or preconception, eager to be and to learn. That is what I am striving for yet again. It is not enough to master one skill and forget that you move in far more than one way. Just saying, even during shoulder rehab I'm still learning to be better. Getting more in touch with what we all need to function properly as human beings, through coaching hundreds of people face to face and online as well is my priority. Most of our issues that arise physically, mentally, emotionally may seem dissimilar at a glance. Their roots however, I believe are the same. Embedded in rigidity, resistance to change to needs of the present moment. Using a template for anything gets you started but not getting feedback from the way you act and feel, being unaware, has devastating consequences. The more time passes the more I realise how strength and endurance present themselves in layers. The process of thinking, planning, being scientific or spiritual is an asset to us all. Overuse of these skills will cause us more harm than good in the long run. Our mind is only as strong as our muscles, that are only as strong as our bones, limited by the structural integrity of our joints, which feed on our habits and diet. We may think deeply, procreate and create. We may have goals in life like getting ripped, graduating, travelling or getting a promotion, but in the end we are a part of our environment. We are unpredictable creatures even to ourselves and our most easily accessible strength comes from base happiness and pleasures. In simpler terms what I'm trying to say is " don't waste your time on making big plans, live them, and live every other little moment that comes along". I've never once regretted what I have done, rather what I did not. This could be as ridiculous as regretting not taking breaks from "bigger plans" to play games or not "wasting time" learning something I wanted to learn just coz it wasn't "useful". But when it comes to maintaining what you have and realising that getting better is not about gaining more muscle or losing more fat - but following it up with a thrillride of a lifestyle, then it only boils down to ACCEPTANCE.
