I think it's important to talk about mental health, I've been living with anxiety for quite a while and I've never seen anyone talk about coping methods. So here are some of mine: If I can remember, I try to breathe in counts of 4. Giving your mind different tasks to focus on can help snap you back. Count 3 things you can see, 3 things you can hear, 3 things you can taste, and 3 things you can touch. If that fails, press something cold against your face, open your fridge or freezer and stick your head inside (but don't close the door!). I hope some of these things can help you guys cope with your next anxiety or panic attack. . Mum life can be soo hard! • I know it may look like I have it all together but most of the time I feel like I don’t lol. Having four kids is definitely challenging (also a little crazy lol) and means I’m always out numbered. The days (and nights) are long, but no matter what I’ve realised for me, keeping myself healthy - by making time to train and eat well - is the best way to handle whatever the day brings. • Having those things in place helps me deal with stress, anxiety, frustrations, stay well and become mentally stronger. • Being healthy is like an anchor for me, it keeps me grounded and stable and honestly if I didn’t have that I think I would have long ago become overwhelmed and unable to cope. • It’s not a question of if I can train, it is when. I make it a priority and find babysitters or make ways to get it done. And when I have the opportunity, I will always take it because I appreciate the time that I get to invest in my health so I can be better and stronger for my family. • Make time for you. Retrain your thought patterns by repeatedly accepting automatic thoughts, and then choosing to attend to the balanced, realistic, and helpful thoughts.

Every 30 minute episode was like a break from reality. _ A break from the hidden abuse, the fighting, the neglect, the fear. I always found myself so sad and overwhelmed when they were over. A sudden rush back into my real life. _ It definitely turned into an unhealthy addiction during the most stressful times of my life like university, losing family members, and the most intense parts of healing from my PTSD. Part of bettering your health is also learning to not only accept yourself but also see positives in yourself. . . I use all the foundation and the eyeliner and the contouring. . . Which us great, makeup is fun. . . But not when you use it as a defense mechanism. Or refuse to ever go out or take a photo without it on. You see, I use makeup as a mask to hide from the world. . . If I don't wear it up the street, I get REALLY self conscious and the heat of anxiety often starts to creep in. . . So here I am, no makeup (first thing in the am) trying to change my POV, slowly. To make positive changes, slowly. To tell myself its OK to not wear makeup ALL.THE.TIME. . . Did you hear about the magic tractor? It turned into a field. 🚜 #sorrynotsorry! Today is an important day for all of us and emotions are running high. Many of us have election fatigue and it’s hard to feel upbeat when there’s so much political uncertainty and discord. But I think it’s important not to lose our sense of humour and hope for the future. This week I’ve been lucky enough to have my Dad @david.mackintosh visiting and helping me keep my chin up. I’m still feeling pretty overwhelmed by life at the moment but having someone around for hugs and a hand has been really helpful (and the pups loved all the extra attention!) He also takes a nifty picture, like this one of me in my new @acai_activewear Father-Christmas trews and recycled wool beanie. It’s a bit posey but I like it -in my natural environment with the puppers (and my Grandpa’s old jumper which I love because it reminds me of him. Hi Gramps!) After a few days of hiding inside from the wild weather it was especially nice to #GetOutside and enjoy some fresh air, something else that I think is important for keeping our minds healthy. So, bad jokes, family and time outside have been my distractions this week. I hope that you’ve also found some successful ways for coping with double whammy of the election and the busyness of the festive season. My name is Valeria, the often hidden face behind weavart design. Weaving is my therapy and my way of coping with anxiety and depression. Over the past few months I decided to bring my work to Instagram and to actively pursue my Etsy growth, and I couldn’t be happier with the results I’m achieving! I was born and raised in Argentina and moved to Canada as an adult. I worked for many years as a translator and as a Spanish teacher. it was a few years ago when my anxiety and depression, overcame the best of me and the only way I found to cope with my emotions was through weaving. The feeling of the threads against the nerves in my fingers felt like my ground wire. Over the years I produced many pieces including, traditional aboriginal tapestry, pillows, scarfs, and table runners. More currently I feel in love with wallhangings, the thought of bringing colours and sensations into homes and walls is my newly found passion. I’m extremelly happy I get to share my love and pieces with you all.
