💥THE “HOOK DRILL” or MB DRILL 2.3💥 . We utilize the “Hook Drill” as part of our MB progression and off the mound with our pitchers. 👇🏻 There are three main reasons we utilize this drill with an athlete: 👇🏻 1️⃣ By hooking the front leg we can cause a balance issue that will cause the athlete to feel the forward drive of the front hip towards the target. This encourages both directional force and keeping the front side closed as long as possible through the mechanics. 👇🏻 2️⃣ By creating the imbalance we have effectively shifted the center of mass slightly backwards over the back leg. This allows the athlete to drive through the back hip at a higher hip flexion angle as opposed to back knee flexion angle (@matthewhoffman is still perfecting this). 👇🏻 3️⃣ The final point is that this shift of the center mass makes an early loss of heel contact much more obvious. As a thrower we want our heel to remain in contact with ground as long as possible. One of the things I missed most is working out with my hubby. Weekdays are impossible due to late work nights and there always seems to be something happening on weekends (or maybe just our excuses to laze around on our days off 😜.) So we seized the opportunity while on vacation to work out together. Well....hubby said I tried to kill him with these core exercises....poor guy ached for days 👅👌👍

This is a fun exercise. One of those that looks easy but not easy to execute; and many used momentum (throwing themselves back) and did not engage their deep core muscles when practising.
