Happy Friday, friends! How's your first week of December been? Somebody asked me yesterday if I had my tree up, I may have snort laughed. It's not, but that's okay, we'll get to it eventually. It's one of my favorite holiday traditions. We get a fresh tree from a local farm and it smells so good! 🎄 What is one of your holiday traditions you're looking forward to?

The ranunculi are looking so happy in the high tunnel. I am so glad for these little friends to tend and care for while outside is covered with mud and snow. They keep my inner light bright while I wait for the sun to return. #ranunculus #hightunnel #winterfarming #utahflowerfarm

Met Certified Grower and board member for @utahflowerfarms Lindsey of @threesproutsflowerfarm! Lindsey is a wonderful asset to our organization and we are so grateful to have her. When asked why she chose to be a part of the UCFFA Lindsey responded, "Friends!  Well I think the better term is community:) Regardless of the term you want to use, my biggest cheerleaders are people that I have met through the UCFFA.  They know what it is like to feel the rush of excitement as you start planning the new year, the confidence that comes when people purchase your product (and they remind you that if the sales aren't coming that it is more about need to create more exposure than you as a farmer), the exhaustion that happens in August, and the calmness that settles like a blanket as you put the beds to rest for the winter.  Friends are with you there through it all. When you meet (and foster!) friendships from UCFFA you are building an army of support, resources and coordinating efforts to help you succeed. And I love that there is a florist component to the organization.  Selling to florists is not a primary goal for our farm but they help people fall in love with flowers!  Florists committed to buying local help me to understand trends and how to showcase the uniqueness of shape or color in the bouquets and simple arrangements that are made on our farm."

Pistachios thriving in conditions in Central Victoria A little hard to source Ours are from South Australia ordered from Perry’s Fruit & Nut Nursery Have not come across them for sale in Victoria - has anyone else? Great plant to grow here not only for nuts but also ornamental qualities Note Pistacia vera is the fruiting species (the species more commonly available here is just ornamental) Also need at least one male as well as females
