Havent done a heavy Front Squat in months due to stupid elbow. Today @compelledfitness Strength; 10 Min Emom [email protected]% (390) Felt a lot heavier than I remembered. Finished it with; 2rds 800 meter run 25 Thrusters #75 7 RMU =15:27 Used a #20 vest. Never have successfully done one with weight. Pumped I was able to string some together. I probably won’t be able to do them the next time they come up in the programming because of my bump. ••••••••••••• I fell short of the target time domain. STRENGTH TRAINING IN FEMALES 💪🏼 Up until just a couple of years ago, it was unusual to see a woman in the weights area of a gym and many women tended to stick to cardio based exercise often due to the fear of ‘looking bulky’ if they started using weights, plus I also think there has been an element of judgement around girls being in the weight area of a gym too 🙄 (maybe just my experience 🤷🏼‍♀️). But one thing I HATE is the idea of gender specific workouts 🙅🏼‍♀️ I mean you would never see a male ‘booty guide’ etc but female focused workouts are often marketed at changing our bodies. DISCLAIMER: This is not saying that men don’t get pressurised to look a certain way too but there’s definitely not half as much focus on appearance and instead a bigger focus on performance and building strength. I’m a true believer that men and women can train exactly the same and I feel we are gradually moving further away from the idea that they can’t (hopefully🤞🏼). It’s so great to see that more and more females are incorporating weights into their exercise routine and there are so many benefits to doing so, including: - Increasing your bone density reducing the risk of fractures and osteoporosis - Increasing your basal metabolic rate and it burns more body fat, even after you have finished the exercise - Builds lean muscle and tones - Strengthens your joints, tendons and ligaments - Reduces stress and makes you feel good - especially when you see progression 🙌🏼 Ladies - lifting weights won’t make you bulky and in fact, under the guidance of a good PT, there are many training methods that can be used which can achieve different muscle adaptations depending on your goals. BUT what I encourage people to do is rather than focus on the aesthetic goals of exercise, instead find a form of exercise you LOVE, that CHALLENGES you and that you can stay CONSISTENT with and results will tend to come from that 💛 So on that note, don’t be scared adding in weights to a workout and remember that you don’t need to have a beard to bench press or a set of ovaries to go to yoga 😉 #youdoyou #exercise #strength #weighttraining #sportsdietitian
