The last few weeks have been a mental struggle. A mixture of meal replacement packs and junk food (not pictured!) so I've weighed and measured again. I've taken a new set of 'before' pictures. I'll also be posting all my meals daily in one picture. I had a list of reasons why but after some inspiration from @cwpmandyv I decided to revisit my goals xx I really will endeavour to do it this time 🙏🏻

[ Practical ] - calorie deficit via habits . In order to manage your calories you either need to count calories or you need to use behavioral habits and practical techniques which put you into a calorie deficit . Both work but counting calories freaks some people out.😱 Or they are so broken they don't recognise their hunger signals, can't tell what a reasonable portion is or have bad associations with food and eating . A habit based approach can be easier to get some of the basics under control and indeed many reach a point they are happy without ever getting to calorie tracking😀👍 . The following are key habits to develop . ◾Eat mindfully - be present when you eat, know why you are eating and actually put some time aside for it ◾Eat slowly - stop hoofing you food down within 5 minutes, savour and taste it instead. Eating slowly helps you understand when you are full ◾Eat without distractions - put the phone down, TV off and be aware of what and how much you are eating ◾Eat to 80% - is a more advanced habit to do with awareness, basically learning to stop eating before you are stuffed ◾Protein with every meal - it helps you feel full but more importantly helps you maintain lean mass when in a calorie deficit ◾Portion size - use basic measures offer portion size, even as simple as using a Aller plate to control how much you can pile on . Habit based coaching is my go to for people who think calorie counting is obsessive or sounds really hard. The key is to keep it simple: listen to your body + make adjustments✅ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💯QUALITY FIRST: if you’re a macros person, we probably won’t get along😅 #1 base your diet on food that doesn’t have ingredients. Consume minimally processed, clean, organic, non-gmo foods that are as close to nature as possible🙏🏼 regarding grains & dairy: I generally recommend that everyone goes grain/dairy-free for a while. And then it can get more bio-individualized. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ‼️QUANTITY SECOND: staying within YOUR appropriate range of macro nutrients (carbs, fat & protein). Find your personal balance by listening to your biofeedback metrics - hunger, energy, cravings, mood/motivation. When you eat the right way for your body you will feel satiated, energetic and happy with no cravings😄 some people will need more fat + protein/less carbs. Others might fall on the higher carb end. Most of us will be somewhere in the middle. So you could start there + tweak it until you get it just right👌🏼 I personally feel better with more protein and carbs on the lower side. Fat for me is liberal. I definitely don’t restrict it, but also won’t go out of my way to eat more of it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📝I haven’t logged my food in a long time. It’s become second nature. But at first you have to learn to correlate your food choices + macros/calories/portions with how that makes you fell & make adjustments accordingly. This applies to eating frequency too. Use numbers if you’re more quantitative in your way of thinking. Or eye ball it and think like “I should eat about a palm size of protein with this meal”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ➕IN DEPTH CUSTOMIZATION: to your current state of physiology. Getting more specific + tailoring your diet based on things like food intolerances, hormone regulation, genetic mutations, gut dysfunctions... a short-term thing to help control your symptoms, while working on the root cause. So if you’re insulin resistant it doesn’t mean you just avoid carbs forever. But you need to take some steps to monitor/regulate blood sugar, lessen pressure on your insulin, cortisol & hormonal blood sugar regulation✅

There’s a lot of confusion in the health & fitness world about what you’re supposed to eat and all of these fad / specialized diets... So it’s perfectly normal to feel confused + overwhelmed trying to determine the right diet for your goals🤯 In the next post, I’ll be sharing a simple guide to determine your nutritional needs more efficiently! But first here’s how I see it👇🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⚠️DISCLAIMER: this is my personal theory from years of trial + over analyzing everything related to health & fitness. You may have different beliefs and disagree with what I’m about to say and that’s totally fine, just do your thing! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So we live on 🌏 with many other species 🐛🌱🐏plants, animals, bacteria... and we have the ability to digest things and obtain their chemical energy (ATP). We can consume plant species, animals and everything in between. So I don’t think there’s an absolute perfect energy source for the human body. There’s pros and cons for everything. And I think we all know that there is no one size fits all, but not everyone practices that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ultimately things don’t “want” to be eaten: 🦁would probably eat you / fight back, 🐓will run away. Plants also have their chemical defense mechanisms: a lot of them, when being eaten by a predator, release chemicals to signal other near by plants to make the leaves taste bitter, discouraging the animal from eating it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ‼️since it’s not black and white. We have to determine the grey area that’s best for each of us. First and foremost, get specific about your goals & beliefs. Think of what health means to you🤔 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❓WHY are you eating a certain way and what’s the expected outcome? For example, you could be vegan because of animal rights belief, a spiritual moral issue. And that’s fine, but that’s not really about health. A health & fitness goal might be that you’re eating a certain way to balance blood sugar, cortisol + hormone levels, lose fat / gain muscle. Which is NOT the same as “I eat this way to lose weight”. Losing weight does not = building health. You can just not eat and lose weight and get catabolic and sickly... at Eat Sunshine

It's incredible how fast time has been moving and it's already been 3 weeks since I started my journey. This week I dropped just 1kg/2.2lbs and if I can keep up this pace I'll definitely reach my August goal. Still feels a bit... Purtroppo, e sottolineo purtroppo, vedo sempre più persone andare in panico dopo uno sgarro, pesarsi tutti i giorni e demoralizzarsi se notano una variazione di peso in poche ore. - 👉🏼Il nostro peso può variare fino a 4 volte nell'arco di una giornata. - Ovviamente non è grasso che va su e giù ma bensì liquidi in eccesso, dal momento che, così come non è semplice perdere grasso, non lo è neppure accumularlo. - 👉🏼Infatti per ingrassare di 1kg (effettivo) occorre un surplus calorico di 7000-8000 calorie, il che corrisponde a circa 10 pizze margherita. - Ecco per te 5 motivi per cui il tuo peso oscilla 😉 - 👉🏼Ciclo mestruale: Prima o durante questa fase, il tuo corpo tende a trattenere liquidi a causa dei cambiamenti ormonali.
