A bit of a #throwback with this post but it needs to be said again: Carbs get such a bad rap for some odd reason. Everyone seems to believe it's the number one reason for weight gain (it isn't) and as a result, everyone jumped on the bandwagon hating carbs. 🤔 But I am on #teamcarbs and here is why! 1. Carbs are your main source on energy! Carbs are broken down into glucose and then glucose is used for your main source of energy! 2. Carbs aid in proper digestion. Carbs are the primary source of fibre and we all know fibre helps with proper digestion! 3. Brain function! Just like with carbs being the main source of energy for your muscles, it's also the main source of energy for your brain! 4. It provides an essential source of vitamins, minerals and nutrients to keep you healthy and your immune system strong! 5. They help lower bad cholesterol levels and keep your heart happy! 6. They are delicious! Need I say more! Don't be afraid of carbs! They are your friend! ❤️🍞🍠🍎🍐🍓🍝 #eatallthecarbs #foodisfuel #nutrition #nobs #nofads #fitlikeagirl #livetrainlovefight

Are you trying to lose the 20-30lbs FOR GOOD THIS TIME?... but you have a hard time sticking to one diet/program... you start calorie counting, see great results at first... then stressed one day, overeat all restricted foods that “didn’t fit into your calories”— that one episode leads to a week long binge because each day you tell yourself, “I’ll start again tomorrow.” Eventually after weeks of being “off track” you decide to follow a cookie cutter meal plan.. goes great for a couple weeks but then emotions strike..you have a bad day at work and devour all the ice cream in the freezer...starting the cycle ALL. OVER. AGAIN. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🙋🏻‍♀️That was me! I use follow meal plans, calorie count, and one program I would just drink shakes all day... I’d fall off track each time because I’d emotional/stress eat. Feel like a failure because I didn’t have enough “will power” to stick to the plan.. it would take months for me to get back on track.. I’d think, “if I had only stuck with it I’d be sooo much closer to my goals.”😡 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I couldn’t take this cycle anymore. I decided to address the REAL PROBLEM of why I couldn’t stick to a diet and not lose the love handles for good. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✖️The problem was NOT the food. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✔️The problem was my behaviors and relationship with food. . Such as... 📍restrict/overeat till uncomfortable 📍stress eating 📍procrastinating eating 📍boredom eating . To end those unhealthy behaviors I had to develop a healthy relationship with food and learn food skills if I wanted to be LEAN FOR LIFE. . 💁🏻‍♀️Now I save time and money not having to weigh and measure food, or meal prep like crazy.. . And the BEST PART about this is I’m not worried about gaining weight back 🙌🏼 . Because I.. ✔️Eat when I’m hungry ✔️Stop at early signs of fullness ✔️I eat foods that make me feel my best ✔️No restrictions so I’m not falling off any wagon . These are skills I can do for LIFE. . If you can relate and realize that diets just mask the problem temporarily of why you can’t lose the 20-30lbs for good, then I encourage you to find guidance and support from a trusted coach. I’m always here for you as well, so drop me a DM anytime 👊🏼 #igotyourback

Today has been hectic, I ate my lunch over 10 minute wait intervals, but when I got home, I was still excited to chat with my team. I did it post dog walk with my hair a mess and the first 15 minutes I was cooking dinner. . . . I don’t spend a lot of time working on this business. . . . Usually about 1-2 hours daily, including my workouts, which I consider a part of this job. If I don’t show up for myself daily, nobody will trust me to show up for them. . . . But on Tuesday nights we have team calls. Sometimes we have guest speakers, sometimes we have calls devoted to a single topic, but nights like tonight we get together and we just chat. We chat about how to mould our approach to coaching to best help our customers & new coaches. . . . We transform our minds as well as our bodies. . . . You ready to join me? Just send me a message and I can answer all your questions about coaching.

Anti-diet, NOT Anti-health. • I am 💯 all for vegetables and fruits 🍍🥑🥗. I am also 💯 all for chocolate🍫, grains🍞, and whatever else makes YOU feel your best! Why? 〰️ Because feeling healthy and happy looks and feels different on every BODY 💕. • Yes there are TWO definitions for diets. 1️⃣ Diets that are rigid + restrictive with the end goal to lose weight and. 2️⃣ Diets that are medically warranted (allergies, FODMAP trial for IBS, ketogenic diets for seizures etc). • To be clear, I’m not against medically necessary diets. I get it. I’ve worked as a clinical dietitian in several hospitals. I know there are several diseases + life threatening conditions where people need to be on a diet (definition #2) in order to survive. What I’m against is diet definition #1. • So when I say I’m anti diet, it’s because I believe YOU CAN EAT a donut, and still live a happy + healthy life, feel energetic AND absolutely fan*effing*tastic 🍩! • I’m not saying “eat only donuts all day, everyday” 🚫 BUT I do give you the *unconditional permission* to eat it and anything else you want— bc I know that once you stop restricting and allow yourself to eat these “forbidden foods” you will be on the path to healing yourself because these foods will feel less and less special. You will gain the confidence to live in YOUR body so that you don’t have to go on another diet again. • I know it goes against cultural norms to be anti-diet. Trust me it ain’t no breeze speaking up + out. I could prob make more profit bottling a green juice or pill and marketing it as the quick fix. But what do we know about temporary diets? They bring temporary results, temporary happiness. When I realized that the diet industry is a 60 BILLION dollar industry 💸, I couldn’t unknow it. ✨✨✨And so, I’d rather be #antidiet and misunderstood by many - than to contribute to an industry that profits off of other women’s’ insecurities.

We all emotionally eat! (I admit to it!) 🙋 . . We are not robots, we are humans with emotions. We celebrate with food, we grieve with food, we comfort with food --> That's what makes you human. . . BUT when you are able to tune into what your body *really* needs (not just eating!) then you are honoring your feelings without using food. . . There are going to be seasons in your life when you may turn to food more than you do at other times, and that's also OK. It's all about stepping away from weight loss and getting in touch with your body and your feelings --> What's going on underneath? You gotta face those. . . As a Health Coach, I help women get to know their emotions, honor them and learn how to *manage* them (so they're not managed by their emotions and dragged to only eat to numb out). . . Curious to know how I can help you take care of your emotions so you can handle all that hard stuff in healthy and effective ways? . . Drop a heart in the comments and I'll tell you all about my 90-day Coaching Program Eat Without Guilt where you will learn what you need when emotions rise, how to accept you for who you are, especially when life isn’t going your way❤️ . . 📸 by @jamiehansenart

🌻 Yesterday I posted about losing 5 lbs. I want to clarify I didn't do it in one week on vacation.⬇️ . I had no exercise per Doc's orders for 2 weeks, a 1 week vacation at grandma's house, and an additional week btwn the days before and after these events so.. about 4 weeks total. . 5 lbs through very little "exercise",eating within my caloires, prioritizing protein, and h20 and resting as needed. My activity did eventually start to increase, as I would go for a walk or a hike a few times (especially on vacation). . The point of this is to explain you don't need to go to the gym 7 days a week, 90mins to 2 hours a day to get results. You need to prioritize food, nutrition for your goals, & exercise for your goals. . Cardio is not a means of weight management & burning 1000s of calories each bout shouldn't be the goal either (because that's not susatianble) and you need to be patient AF. . I am looking for a few volunteers willing to experiment with my new program over the next several days.❤ . I'd love to have you try it out. DM me of fill out my link in the bio.🙌 . . . . . . #personaltrainer #badassbod #fatlossplan #dietssuck #trainer #trainingwithapurpose #sculpting #healthcare #healthyeating #momfit #fitover30 #Nicolesmithfitness #cardiosucks #flexiblediets #nutritiontips #firefighterfit #selfworth #tuesdayselfie #anytimefitness #postbabyfatloss #weightlossplans

Diets suck, nutrition rocks! 🙌 . . So happy that I don’t “diet anymore! I used to live under so much restriction and stress in my 20s. I would never have eaten anything as delicious as this superfood smoothie bowl. 👉🏻 When we feed our bodies real food that supports optimal wellness we feel better emotionally, we lose excess weight naturally, we start to smile more and take better care of ourselves and we get healthier! 🙀 When we diet we restrict calories, we fear food, we stop enjoying meals, we are more likely to binge, we begin to obsess and while we might lose a little weight, most of us will gain it all back eventually. 👎🏻 Diets are no sustainable and some are down right dangerous! My new Mindful Nutrition group in October is all about creating a lasting healthy lifestyle that supports sustainable weight loss and a healthy relationship with food- not about following fad diets. What do you struggle with in your nutrition? Portion control? Eating too little? Eating too much? Eating sweets? Craving certain unhealthy foods? Scared to eat certain foods? Can’t lose weight no matter what? Maybe you hate vegetables? 😿 Please hear me- you are not ALONE! We have all struggled with our nutrition at one point or another. You can get healthy, you can lose weight and you will! It’s starts with your mindset first. 💕 Change your mindset and you change your life! . . *** Enrollment for my October wellness group Mindful Nutrition is now open! Not a fitness group- this is nutrition focused. Space is limited so don’t wait until October to enroll! Only 20 spots available. #Repost from @thefitnesschef_ Go on give him a follow! ・・・ In 1960 there was virtually no obesity. There were peripheral weight loss fads floating around, but none were promoted on the mass scales of years to come. - - Today, just like any business, companies in the dieting industry exist to make money. When you get a flat tyre you contact a reputable garage to get a new one in exchange for money. It’s a win win. But if you imagine obesity as a flat tyre, most of the companies receive your money, but knowingly give you another flat tyre in return. You lose. - - They give individuals false perception (and hope) that rapid weight loss and supplementation is both healthy and necessary. They do not encourage practicality, nor behavioural sustainability of a gradual, measured approach. Instead, their presence has formed an epicentre of extreme, factually incorrect perceptions/opinions/practices regarding basic nutrition. - - This said, fad diets are not to blame for increasing global obesity rates. We make our own choices and if we want to be successful, we should consult evidence based, sensical information. In the case of obesity; we consume too many calories and do not move enough. A functional statement which has somehow been drowned out by parasitic paraphernalia. - - Research has shown that 55% of overweight or obese people want to change. A simple google search will bring up a plethora of well marketed, rapid weight loss solutions, supplements and diet plans. In hope and expectation, these are the solutions people choose. Yet the connection between net spend on such products and the global obesity rate clearly show that instead of solving the problem, they perpetuate it. - - Changing state requires knowledge, education and above all, consistency. Not a 28 day weight loss detox that teaches you nothing other than how to set money on fire. You do not need a new diet. You just need to realise that you have to become aware (and then change) the one you already have. This will cost you £0 and change your life forever 🔥. - - #thefitnesschef #obesity #diet #dieting #dietssuck #dietstartsmonday #fatlosshelp #fatloss #eatsmart #nutritioncoach

😒You've probably tried like a million diets and weight loss programs, right? * Jamie wanted nothing more than to get rid of the 20lbs she picked up after a few stressful years of climbing the success ladder at her job, so she could get her confidence back.😖 The problem was that every time she started focusing on cleaning up her diet and working out, she found herself feeling way too overwhelmed and just couldn't stick with anything long enough to see results. * Jamie began to feel depressed and was even embarrassed for her husband to see her without clothes on which was starting to really affect her marriage. * 👉Jamie simply had too many distractions for her weight loss and just didn't know what to focus on so she kept starting up and quitting over and over and feeling like a failure. After about 4 weeks of helping her with a flexible dieting plan and 20 minute workouts 3-4x a week, which kept her from getting overwhelmed, she saw nearly 10lbs gone and still got to eat chocolate every single day! Let’s be clear about one thing – Intermittent Fasting is not a diet. 🚫 Instead, it’s a pattern of eating in which during designated “windows” of time you consume your food and calories for the day. When you are not in that window, you abstain from all food and calories – That’s your fast. 🍽 The key difference between intermittent fasting and other diet trends is that the main focus is on when you eat, not what. You can still eat normal amounts of food that you love, it’s just during a smaller window of time that you designate.⌚️ Intermittent fasting is not a magic solution that will offset the effects of an unhealthy diet or lifestyle. Instead, you should think it as another addition to an already healthy and active lifestyle that will help boost results. For most of us, the toughest part is just telling ourselves it’s okay to go that long without food. 🌮🥙👀 This is just one example eating window, known as the 16/8 method, in which you fast for 16 hours and eat within an 8 hour period. I recommend this particular window to beginners due to the fact the majority of your fast is while you sleep, needing only to skip breakfast in the morning. ☕️👍🏼 If you're interested in giving it a try, make sure you check out my FREE beginner's guide! Food rules?! # You know, like “I don’t eat late at night.” Or “I will avoid sugar.” Even “I’ll skip breakfast so I can splurge later.” # Are they good or bad? # I my opinion, both! # If your food rules create black and white thinking, if they force you to ignore your own internal cues of hunger/fullness, and/or are random guidelines as to how, what, when, where, and what you eat, then I believe these types of food rules are bad. # On the other hand, if I didn’t have certain rules or guideposts for myself, I guarantee I would be 50 pounds heavier. # Some rules, each unique to the person, may be helpful in maintaining a healthy weight, blood work, life, etc. # Think of a lantern. The glass that surrounds the flame protects it from burning out. I like to think of my “rules” (aka behaviors) as the protective glass. If I start to let my rules slip a bit (which I do), I will notice the flame 🔥 start to flicker (ie clothes not fitting, scale going up, poor energy, etc). These are red flags that I need to focus a little more closely on my rules and behaviors again before I set the lantern down completely and walk away. # I’ll share some of my own personal food rules tomorrow, but in the meantime, what are some of your food rules? Share in the comments below. # Would you like help in determining if your food rules are helping or hindering? Send me a private message then.

Respect your body . . Here's a personal story: I still remember back in 2015 when I first learned about this principle. The idea of respecting my genetics, my heritage, my body, my DNA - it was a breakthrough. . . It just kind of hit me - Since I was a little girl in elementary school I was conscious of my body, then all the way through middle school, high school, and College. I was sick of it --> Diet culture BS for decades, *decades* of my life. I had been resisting my body until I said: ENOUGH! . . What hit home for me personally was to think about my complexion. I don't have a flat belly, I don't have a thin waist or a curvy derriere - I was born like that. That complexion and height have been handed down to me by my mom, my grandma, my great grandma. It's simply genetics! . . I eventually made peace with it. Today I'm so grateful for this body, it's fabulous, it does a lot of good things for me. It gets stronger and healthier every day! ❤️ . . The same principle can be applied to any part of your body - I encourage you to start building respect for your body starting NOW. Find value, and appreciation for it. You may *never* love or like your body 100% BUT you can respect it. . . Acknowledge that perfection does not exist and pay attention to what your body does for you. . . What's one part of your body you've been hyper-conscious about? . . 📸 by @hilaryhyland

Nobody wants to know what kind of diet you’re doing, Susan. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ OK, OK, that was snarky. And I know what you’re thinking—“but Daphne talks about food ALL the time!” You’re right. I’m obsessed with the idea of food freedom and breaking free from dieting. In some ways, I’m more focused on food than ever before, but I’m embracing resources that teach me to do it in a healthy way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So when I say “let’s just stop talking about food,” here’s what I mean. Compliment a person’s intellect, not their keto results. Praise a friend’s kindness, not their weight loss. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If we can all work to see each other as valuable no matter what we weigh, then that’s a step in the right direction. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you agree? . . . #mycurves #mybodymatters #mybodyhasvalue #EDawareness #EDrecovery #EDsurvivor #disordered #disorderedeating #disorderedthoughts #effyourbeautystandards #effyourbodystandards #effyourhealthstandards #mybodymychoice #plussize #curvymom #curvycrew #loveyourcurves #lovemycurves #selflove #selfrespect #mybodymychoice #sandiegomom #sandiegomoms #dietculture #dietssuck #dietsdontwork #bodyimage #bodypositive #bodypositivity at Chula Vista, California

MEAL PREPPING. We’ve all seen pictures of perfectly prepped and portioned meals stacked in the fridge. Seems like the solution for organizing your food for the week. . If you are working on eating intuitively, you may find yourself wondering if this allows for eating more flexibly. IE is an approach that allows you to tune into your body’s signals like hunger and fullness, but also your personal food preferences and cravings-and it’s normal for these to change from day to day-or within the day. . So can you meal prep to save time during a busy week AND eat intuitively? We say yes, and here’s some ideas how: . 👉Try food prepping instead of meal prepping. Prepare a few food items ahead of time that you can throw together in a variety of meal options throughout the week to save time: cook a big batch of rice that can can be thrown into a stir fry OR a chipotle bowl, depending on what flavors you’re craving that night. . 👉Try planning for just a few days at a time vs the whole week. Planning for 5-7 days at once can feel overwhelming, so cut that time in half to 2-3 day blocks. WHY #slimmingworld, WHY? 😭😭 These are no longer 'syn' free apparently! Just one of the many reasons I disagree with these diets. No food is a syn/sin (apparently it stands for synergy, they could have picked a better word but 🤷) Losing weight = calorie deficit. Learning to do this for yourself means you never have to lose weight, come off the diet, put the weight back on, piss yourself off, feel like shit and go back on a diet. Track your calories, even just for a while, look at foods you are eating, cals you are consuming, patterns! From there work out how many cals you should be eating and decide on how to create your deficit. When you are happy with your body (not focusing on scales here) cals back up to maintenance slowly but surely and there you have it! ❤️ If you need help, ask and I will gladly show you how to do it yourself! No diets. 😘😘😘 #coach #caloriedeficit #calories

😰Good finish to today’s workout. It was 4 rounds of front rack reverse lunges (two 44lb kettle bells) and dball slams (50lbs). I did 12 each the first two rounds and 10 each the last two rounds. — 🍞 I was toast at the end. I liked this combo a lot. It really hit the shoulders, core, and quads for a full body workout. You can check the first two pieces of my workout in my stories today (Tuesday). Check out @bowtiesandbarbells_wods for some solid workouts. Transformation Tuesday 🙈. On the left, I was a cardio bunny, spending all my workouts on the bike and training for a half marathon.🐰 I had no clue how to eat and had zero plan other than "eat less, carbs are bad." I thought that's what I was supposed to do for a lean, fit look. Yeah no. . . . I got fed up because it wasn't working, not even a little bit. I met Leslie Ann and found @fatloss_foodies on IG and the rest is history. I was drawn to her because of her no nonsense, sustainable approach. I latched on because I knew I could do it. This was in 2014. I dropped almost 30 pounds in a few months and did nothing but take photos of my abs 😂. Years of living this FLF lifestyle has not only changed my look, but my outlook. Now I eat and I lift and walk right on by the treadmill. The scales have continued to go back up and I'm now within 10 lbs of that photo on the left. Pretty stoked about that because it's MUSCLE ya'll. . . . Fat Loss Foodies changed my life. I built a lifestyle I could manage and keep, and I have never looked back. I have worked with other nutrition professionals as my goals changed BUT FLF gave me a foundation and a mindset I continue to default to because IT JUST WORKS. Check out FLF and the link in my bio for more 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Mmmm its Tasty Tuesday. . As I said yesterday my nutrition had gone to pot. I was emotional eating and ate so much chocolate/sweets/rubbish to sink a battleship. . But that was last week. Yesterday I ate completly on plan and I feel so much better for it. So today will be the same. . I did see a post on the pinchofnom site informing slimming world peeps that a few things now have a syn value. Don’t care about Smash (🤢) but I have 2 mullerlight yoghurts per day (mixed with my nutrition bomb powder) and every now and then I have a tin of spaghetti hoops. So all in all it wont really make a difference to me 🎉. . #dontdodiets #dietssuck #lifestylechange #eating #healthyfood #healthyeating #upsanddowns #emotionaleating #slipintooldhabits #oldhabits #progressnotperfection #backtothegrind #backtoit #icandoit #postpartum #postpartumjourney

New podcast alert!🤩🙌🏻📣. . . Worship comes in many forms, even fashion💃🏼. I was so blessed to get to see this amazing display of garments at the Heavenly Bodies exhibit at The MET in NYC. . . There were so many different styles of dress, from chain-linked to wedding to street wear, all reflecting the influence religion has had on the designers😇. It reminded me of just how varied our personal interpretations and reflections of God in our life are. The ability to create without judgement, to let ourselves be freely influenced by God is such a gift and from it comes such a glorious artistry of our lives. . . But we have to be open to it. We have to be willing to be let God lead and guide the creativity of our lives. We can’t hide in lies and darkness, allowing our own ideas and plans get in the way of his blessings. . . On today’s #feedyourfaith podcast I talk about the lies dieting tells us, the judgements we create around food and our bodies and how to lean more into God for healing from negative and destructive eating patterns so that, like these designers, we can glorify God and reflect His perfect design....ourselves. 👏🏻 Link found in bio!👍🏻 . . . . . . . #godisgood #bodypositive #bopowarrior #christianity #jesus #biblestudy #loveyourself #dietssuck #foodfreedom #bingeeating #edrecovery #bingeeatingrecovery #bingeeatingdisorderrecovery #allbodiesaregoodbodies #fitfaith #spirituality #christianwoman #anorexia #plussize #fatgirlproblems #christianentrepreneur #proverbs31woman #proverbs31wife #christianliving #christianlifecoach #christianblogger #christianpodcast #jesusfreak #BEDrecovey #edrecovery

Truth is, I only bought ‘Body Positive Power’ because it was a bargain on Kindle and I thought it would be a nice easy poolside read 🙄. I’m far too stubborn to think anything has the possibility to challenge my ideas or beliefs, especially a book. I was wrong. Nothing has changed my perspective more in such a short space of time, I honestly think I’ve been waiting for this for years and it’s landed in my lap at just the right time🙏🏼, now I know I need to make some changes around here. Its no secret that the key to losing weight is to be in a caloric deficit (eating less calories than your body requires). However you may be feeling that counting calories is overwhelming, which it can be. So instead of getting obsessed over numbers, try making some small, easy changes to your every day habits that will help you cut down on calories without realizing it. Check out my blog post today (link in bio) on How to Cut Calories Without Counting them!

If you tuned into my story on Saturday, you may have seen a post I did about eating this yummy pistachio cardamom bread at @thirdrailcoffee. I hadn't planned on it, but life is like that. - I had eaten breakfast around 9:30am and had a baby shower to attend at 1pm, where I knew there’d be food. At 11:30am, I was in the middle of working, when I registered a bit of tightness in my chest. I paused and asked myself, “Why do I feel that way?” I did a quick body scan and noticed discomfort in my stomach—I was physically hungry. - My body needs food every 3-4 hours, so I was surprised to be a little hungry just 2 hours after breakfast. I didn’t want to interrupt my workflow, so I went up to the counter and picked out this bread. I wasn't in the mood for it, but it was convenient and I know it tastes good. A past me might have freaked out (Does this have too much sugar or too many calories?). The new (intuitive eater) me rolled with the punches and ate about 75% of the bread, just enough to take the edge off but keep me hungry for the party. - I share this example to show you that eating isn't perfect or planned and that's okay. And sometimes you can't eat exactly what you want, and that's okay, too. Maybe you're stuck at an airport and the only thing that looks moderately appetizing and non-expired are the Doritos. - It's also normal for physical hunger to surprise you. Sometimes this is because you've eaten a lighter breakfast than usual or exercised more vigorously. Or maybe your appetite was low the day before and your body is making up for it. - Eating that cardamom bread allowed me to enjoy the food at the baby shower. If I hadn't eaten, I would have inhaled the buffet. - The takeaway is to be flexible in your eating. Eating flexibility is a form of self-care that is overlooked because diet culture makes you feel bad about foods that deviate from a list of acceptable items. If you find yourself eating something unplanned, especially if you don’t deem it nutritious, YOU WILL BE FINE. Healthy is being flexible with your choices AND being curious about deviations in your eating patterns. It's also about realizing one food won’t make or break your health. at West Village

Unlike cabs and fats, protein isn’t stored. That’s one reason you need more feedings daily if trying to get lean. Another reason is the amino acid chains at the molecular level are much harder to digest and break down than carbohydrates and fats. This makes them an efficient snack when you get hungry. Clean eating doesn’t automatically equal lean nor does it equal fat loss. . Just because you eat clean doesn’t mean that those calories no longer matter. Be advised that you can eat as clean as possible but if you aren’t in a #caloriedeficit you will NOT lose fat. . Something I hear a lot : “I can’t seem to understand why I am not losing weight. I eat really well, I don’t eat junk food anymore. I eat my meals plus a couple of snacks. I don’t eat a lot of bread & I portion everything out. I’m not gaining but I am not losing either. I am so frustrated. I just don’t get it.” . Here is the thing - I am all for feeding the body with nutritious food (whole foods, veggies, fruit, lean protein, etc) because they keep us fuller longer, supply us with vital vitamins & minerals & just help our bodies function well from the inside out, however eating only these foods does not guarantee #fatloss. . You see, fat loss boils down to feeding your body less energy than it burns everyday. When you feed your body fewer calories than it burns, you are creating a calorie deficit. . A calorie deficit = fat loss. . Remember : Nutritious “clean” calories count just as much as non-nutritious “dirty” calories when it comes to gaining or losing fat. . #fitgirlsrock #cleaneating #caloriesmatter #eatwell #caloriesincaloriesout #fatlosscoach #weightlosscoach #beboldbebadassbeyou #dietingcoach #dietssuck #takeyourlifeback #dietsdontwork #nutritioncoach #healthylifestyle #truthbomb #truth #fittips #healthyliving #fitfam #fitspo #fitness #health

Can intuitive eating still include emotional eating and comfort foods? 💭 • One of the benefits to intuitive eating is that you become able to distance yourself from the reactions you might have once had to food. Guilt, indulgence, fear, addiction, etc. But you, as a human, need food to live. It's perfectly normal for there to be some emotional response to certain foods, especially ones that are attached to good memories! Today I baked some banana bread because it was a rainy Monday and it made my house smell like home, and I'll have one of my favorite snacks to eat all week now. Then I made this ravioli (burrata, basil, and sweet corn) with sauteed vegetables (spinach, baby zucchini, mushrooms) because a big bowl of pasta is a really good quick meal option for a college student, and one of the most comforting things to me on an icky day. Give yourself permission to feel the feelings that food might bring, whether they be good or bad. The good ones will make your day better, and the bad/uncomfortable ones will be a learning experience. Happy Monday everybody 💕

So another weekend has past and once again you “went over board” / “ate sooo bad” / “cheated on your diet”. You feel like a failure. Like you have to restart. And of course have to be strict AF for the week to come (especially today because it’s Monday). ⠀ You have dedicated Monday through Thursday as your days to go all out in the gym and eat only “healthy” foods because you can’t stand yourself for eating what you did on the weekend. ⠀ Sound like you?.... definitely sounds like me a couple years ago. ⠀ Here’s my advice- GIVE YOURSELF A DAMN BREAK. ⠀ SO WHAT you ate a burger and fries on the weekend. So what you had a glass of wine with your family on Sunday..... isn’t that what life’s all about? ⠀ And when it comes to Monday, you don’t have to restrict. You don’t have to go all out in the gym. Instead, try listening to your body and honouring its hunger and movement cues. ⠀ ALSO, something that has helped me is making my weekdays AND weekends look like this — 🍕🥗🍩🥦🍪🍓🍷 instead of my weekdays looking this —🥗🍓🥦🥑🥒 and my weekends looking like this — 🍩🍿🍪🍷🌮🍕🍔 ⠀ Girl, I know you. And I know how frustrated you are with this food and exercise thing. It’s exhausting, I know. But it doesn’t have to be. Take a step back, start to LISTEN AND FEEL into your body- all the answers are right there ❤️ at Rossburn, Manitoba

I HATE trying to cut shit outta my nutrition plan. * And I also hate when my clients talk about what they need to cut out. * "I can't cut out chocolate." "I can't stay away from chips." "I drink too much." • How many times have you told yourself you're gonna cut back on this or you're gonna give this up? * I've done it with booze and fast food I can't even count how many times. * Everyone is so focused on cutting shit out but let me ask you this... * When you workout do you focus on what you DON'T want to do? * Does your Trainer or Instructor say, "Hey! So this what we're NOT gonna do today." * Moral of the story: * Resistance is futile and focusing on what you CANT have NEVER WORKS! * This photo is a screen shot of Dr. Gregor's app The Daily Dozen. * It focuses on getting you to feed your body what it actually needs as opposed to telling you what you can't have. * You won't believe how effective it is in helping you get past your cravings and poor eating habits. * Just the other day I told myself, "Ok, Carl. Hit 18/24 and you can have that butter tart." * But my last meal had to score me 8 points so by he time I was done I didn't even feel like the damn butter tart so I didn't have it. * So whether you struggle with weight, want to perform better athletically or just want to start feeding your body the right fuel so disease doesn't knock earlier than it should, I highly recommend checking out this app. * And if you need help with the mental and physical game, click on the link in the description or private message me and we'll make sure that this time is the last time you say, "This time is gonna be different." • #dailydozen #dietssuck #dietsdontwork #eattolive #eattogrow #eattoperform at Winnipeg, Manitoba

This weekend I made some pretty yummy peanut butter brownies 🙌🏼 Fortunately, I had some left over to enjoy as a snack today. I’ll be honest, years ago I never would have considered brownies to be a “snack”. Brownies (along with other treats) were reserved for special occasions and celebrations 🎉 Since I would reserve these foods only for certain times, I found myself in an all or nothing mentality when I did get to have them 🙃I would think “I better get what I can now because I won’t get to have it for a while”. Today, #foodfreedom gives me the chance to enjoy those foods that were once only for special occasions whenever I want 💃🏻 knowing I am not limited to only having these foods on occasions means I no longer have an all or nothing mentality. I am happy enjoying this brownie now and not feeling the urge to eat more than my body wants ☺️ What does food freedom look like to you? . . . #intuitiveeating #haes #nutrition #brownie #dessert #snack #healthysnack #thenewhealthy #healthylifestyle #edrd #nondietapproach #dietssuck #edrecovery #diet #allfoodsfit #eatpretty #heresmyfood #foodblogfeed #feedfeed #bodypositive #crazyrichardspb #peanutbutter #eatingforreal at Alexandria, Virginia

Do you need to have the perfect workout routine to lose fat? . The truth is your nutrition needs to be in check☺️✔️ . You can train all day and night-but if all your consuming is pizza and donuts you won’t see the results your working your butt off for! . AND DONT GET ME WRONG- you can still eat these yummy foods in moderation but vegetables and micronutrients are key as well! . You can’t out train a bad diet- the goal is to work smarter not harder! 🤯 . This NUTRITION THING- the hardest but most rewarding gift you can give yourself (IN MY OPINION)- is education and understanding your body needs- this NUTRITION THING- is with you all night and all day- the other 23 hours a day when your not exercising! . Yes that! . If you eat healthy that’s great! But what are you eating?! How much?! What is healthy eating look like to you?! . This is why I love tracking macros and teaching clients how to use them! . Tracking your macros- means tracking how many grams of protein, carbohydrates, and fats you eat in a day and specified to reach your goals based individually! . The reason why I love this method so much? Because it’s not restrictive! I don’t tell my clients WHAT to eat from 7am to 7pm! Because quite frankly that’s not sustainable! . We see the best results when we continue to incorporate foods we love! . You get the structure of knowing how much your consuming on a daily basis without having to cut out specific foods! . In my experience this leads to clients falling off their plan because they feel like they can’t eat certain foods which causes them to overindulge if they ever have “off limit” foods thinking they will never have them again! . Tracking macros is a tool to learn about your body, what it needs and how much to reach your weight loss, muscle gain, and body composition maintenance goals! When you have enough experience with tracking you can learn to eat intuitively! 🧠 . Macronutrient tracking is the first step in a successful lifelong fitness journey! 💪🏻 . ⬇️What nutrition plan have you followed in the past? Did it work for you?⬇️ . What are the most common dieting terms you hear around fitness? 🧐🤓 . ⬇️CONTINUED IN COMMENTS⬇️ at Massachusetts

I made some chicken wraps. I’m trying to use what I have in my house to make lunches. I got through half of it and went “this is boring flavored and if I force myself to finish it, I would be eating it simply because it’s balanced.” I threw away the second half and made a corn dog. Nothing sounds good lately, and I don’t know what’s up. I think stress is playing a role, and I’m eating meals because it’s better than the chips and chocolate I really want to eat. Don’t worry I’m still having chips (I had some last night with guacamole), but I am also trying to be a freaking adult and be reasonable with my food cravings. I recently got really triggered and put into a shame cycle by someone saying that their kids want white bread (alluding it was worse than wheat bread) and she only buys wheat bread for them to eat because “it’s healthier”. It sent me into a “this is why you can’t lose your baby weight ashley. You are smart. You shouldn’t be eating white bread. You eat donuts occasionally for breakfast instead of eggs. You eat two pieces of white bread with your eggs, can’t you just eat the eggs? Everyone else is losing the weight EXCEPT YOU.” I still hold a lot of shame for not losing my baby weight, and it’s something I need to process and work through more. I am happy that in my shame spiral, I was able to step back and talk myself through the irrational thoughts I had (like THROW AWAY ALL THE WHITE BREAD). I am learning to honor my body, my cravings, my hunger, my feelings. It’s scary, but it’s freeing. #intuitiveeating #whatwouldmrroedo #cravings #mindfulcounseling #hhhmcommunity #teamnoshame #beyourself #dietssuck #honoryourcravings
