Strawberries.. Caramelized banana.. Melty dark chocolate.. That’s all 🙃✨ #dessertforbreakfast —————————— Chocolate Chip Strawberry Banana Oat Porridge —————————— BASE 3 tbsp steel cut oats 1 tbsp raw cacao powder 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 pinch salt 1/2 cup water 1 cup milk 1 tbsp honey ✨ TOPPINGS Caramelized banana slices Dark chocolate chips Strawberries Almonds ✨ Soak steel cut oats in water overnight. In the morning, caramelize banana slices by cooking about 2 minutes per side on a hot pan sprayed with coconut oil. Transfer the soaked oats into a non stick pot. Add salt, vanilla, cacao powder and milk. Mix and cook on medium heat for 5-7 minutes or until the porridge thickens, stirring occasionally. Turn off heat and stir in honey. Spoon cooked porridge into a serving bowl. Recently, someone at the gym asked me if I eat fruit. Some people are avoiding fruit to follow diets that suggest to limit or completely remove it from daily consumption. I like fruit and try to follow Ayurveda’s recommendations to digest it easily. These suggestions include eating fruit on an empty stomach and not combining it with other food. If you’re not familiar with Ayurveda, it’s an ancient holistic healing system. I won’t even try to explain it in detail because I don’t want to accidentally share inaccurate information. I really enjoy listening to the @simple_ayurveda podcast and following @fermentedayurveda. If you’re avoiding fruit to follow a specific diet or deficit, I respect that. If you don’t feel well after eating it, simple adjustments like how it’s prepared, when you’re eating it, or what you’re combining it with may help! Fructose or histamine intolerance can also be to blame. Try food journaling to see if there’s a connection between a specific fruit and any undesired symptoms you’re experiencing.
