Had my first appointment with a psychologist today! I was so nervous going in but I'm really glad I went. The amount of relief I found in being able to be 100% honest without worry of judgment or burdening someone emotionally was astounding. She asked the right questions to get me thinking about why I behave the way I do. She also gave me homework that will force me to reflect on my urges to over eat. I'm sharing with you 3 ways you can make maintaining amaze-balls habits a lot easier and more effortlessly, so you can keep up these habits for life. You ready? 1) DO YOUR HABIT (IN SOME CAPACITY) EVERYDAY Yup. Everyday. Consistency is the key here. It doesn't matter HOW MUCH YOU DO if you aren't being consistent. Example, doing 1000 push ups once a year... mmmm, no. No bueno. I find doing my habit everyday vs a few times a week allows me to be more consistent. (Getting those reps in!!) For example, instead of having your habit be: . โŒ โ€œgoing to the gym 3 times a weekโ€ โŒ have your habit be: . โœ… โ€œmoving my body everydayโ€ โœ… It stops you from putting it off till the end of the week, which looks like: . "oh, it's only Monday, I'll go to the gym tomorrow.โ€ โ€œoh it's only Wednesday, still 4 days left in the week, i'll go tomorrowโ€ ... and then Sunday rolls around and you haven't gone at all. I see you. I know you. I was you. It also allows you to be more FLEXIBLE. So instead of having to go to the gym, you can ask yourself, . โ€œwhat type of movement does my body want to do today?โ€ maybe your body wants to go for a walk. maybe your body wants to do 5 minutes of mobility. maybe your body wants to do some yoga. it's your oyster. forget a set amount of time (pressure, ahhhh... resistance...ahhhhh), just aim to do your habit everyday in some capacity. This is not about just a smoothie. Do people actually read the words or flash through pics???? It represents healing and health first. Sometimes my motivation is self sabotaged by not being able to CrossFit whilst I am post surgery hip replacement. It takes time (12 months) to graft into the bone and patience and respecting the process has to come first. The anxiety that comes with that means that eating due to emotions being challenged is very real. Life throws curveballs. Reigning yourself back in, is a constant mind thought. Itโ€™s normal (Iโ€™m sure unless I am alone in this thinking) for us mere mortals to experience this at times, but never giving up and keeping the end goal in sight is what I desperately need to focus on. I will look back and realise it is just a blimp on my radar. There is an Instagram account I came across that helps in gentle, affirming positive thoughts โ€˜eating psychologyโ€™ ... Iโ€™m a fan. Fun fact: when my mom was pregnant with me she ate a grapefruit almost every night. Iโ€™m the only one of my siblings that loves grapefruit. I remember reading articles saying that grapefruit is something you should consume to lose weight. And so Iโ€™d eat them because I wanted to lose weight. And I stopped loving them for a while. Itโ€™s always interesting coming back to foods that used to be diet-triggering for you, and really enjoying them. Finding pleasure in them. Now I eat grapefruit for the pleasure of it. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง At the end I did it. I've weighed myself. 5 kg more after my vacancy. The highest weight ever. I can't stop eating crap. I feel depressed. And I'm going on eating chocolate and blaming myself. I don't know if I actually care. Somethimes it seems that I actually don't care about my weight.
