"I'm a walker." It doesn't sound near as cool as saying "I'm a runner" When I was in college, a lady at the gym told me she could tell I was a runner. I legit looked behind me because I thought she was talking to someone else. (p.s. no one ever asks me that now.) I was flattered but also really embarrassed when I had to ask her how to turn the treadmill on. She didn't seem to think I was so cool after that. Do you ever feel a little bit uncool because you're not a runner or you don't do cross-fit or yoga or whatever else it may be? Is that tinge of shame you feel keeping you from exercising? Here's my two cents: Cent number 1. Know what your body is capable of right now. Is it yoga? Is it walking or water aerobics or swimming or running or HIIT or CrossFit? Choose something that your body and mind are capable of right now. I'm not saying don't ever push yourself. As you get stronger and build more endurance, you can definitely do that, but do what you do for others and meet yourself where you are at this point in your life. Cent number 2: Pick something you enjoy. If you want to get out there and Zumba or Jazzercise or do water aerobics or walk with sticks or anything else and that is fun for you, just go do it! If you enjoy something, you're more likely to keep showing up for it. Friend, if you can move your body, you are so blessed. So get out there and move it so you can keep moving it! Truth. I kind of hope that someday I can say "I'm a runner." But also, don't be suprised if you see me at a Zumba or Jazzercise class or doing water aerobics with my local senior citizens (we all know they're the real cool kids anyways, right?) Those things may not be totally cool, but I am totally cool with that. Tell me, what's your favorite way to exercise?

Honestly ! Stop wishing for it and start working for it !! You can get your nails done,(I do and I love my nail tech❤️💕🤣) you can tan (I do) you can get your hair done (I do every once in a while 🤣) and I love @amberauntam too !! But none of those temporary fixes make me feel as good as I do when I get done with a killer ass workout & especially when I look in the mirror naked at 48 !!! 🤷‍♀️ if you truly want to feel good about your self exercise !! The American heart Association recommends at least 150 minute that’s 2 1/2 hours of heart pumping physical activity per week !! How many of you are honestly getting that in?? If your interested in getting started and really don’t know how, come see me !! Honestly I will help you get started, feel better, sleep better, eat better and move around better ! Honestly I have aged backwards the last 4 years ❤️💪🏻💕🥤🏋️‍♂️🤷‍♀️ when I started I wasn’t able to lift 50 pounds of feed that was the game changer for me and I knew I had to do something !! Workout Video💪🏼 . Can you believe I took two weeks off from the gym? Between traveling and being sick, it was exactly a two weeks break. I used to get the biggest #anxiety if I missed TWO days at the gym but things have totally changed (for the better).🥰 . I’ve learned to listen to my body and now I know that #takingabreak whether it’s two days or two weeks can be exactly what my body is asking for. 21 days completed... . Day 1 vs day 21 . 3 weeks of exercising daily (missed one or two but have doubled up on days so evened out 👍) . I have gained strength and i have more energy but drinking less caffeine..haha!. I am a busy working mum of 2 but i make time for myself nearly every day, i show up and i get it done. 😁👍 . I opt for healthy, nutritious food but don't ever deprive myself, i always enjoy what i eat. . I hardly ever weigh myself either, i prefer to go by how my clothes feel. I did however take measurements and photos on day 1 this time to have a starting point and to see visually what this plan could do. . Results are in..and i have lost 7 inches overall in 21 days!..3 of these from my waist! Really happy with that for 3 weeks ..yay! 😁 . Still it is not all about sizes and numbers though, it's about FEELING GOOD to me. . Getting the MINDSET, the MOTIVATION from within and investing the time for yourself. . Time to make you feel great, clear your mind, mift your mood and cheer you up! This is the key. . That along with a lovely bunch of like minded, supportive girls who are all doing the same. 💥“THAT TIGHT MUSCLE”💥 . ▶️ Ah, yes that tight muscle. . 😪 Ladies and gentlemen, it’s the calf muscle. Extremely overused, extremely abused and always there for you. . ✴ The calf, aka triceps surae is made up of 2 major muscles - the gastrocnemius and the soleus. The gastrocs are the big ones that pop out and can be seen while the soleus lies underneath, inside. The calf structure connects from the knee and extends down to the Achilles Tendon at the heel bone. . 💥 The calves play a big part in your walking, jumping, running whether you’re barefoot, wearing joggers or wearing high heels! But we unfortunately take the calves and their buddies the feet for granted. If you don’t take care of them then the calves can become tight and contractured leading to cramping, strained, torn and ruptured. Ouchie. . ❤ Now, I could go on forever about my good friend, but put simply, through my years of practice, if you suffer from lower back pain, hamstring strain, knee pain, heel pain, sprained ankle, arch pain and ball of foot pain - you betcha the calf muscle is involved. Why? Because most of these problems resort from performing a sitting, standing, movement task over a lengthy extended time. . ▶️ Keep your calves nice and more flexible by performing my favourite calf-wall stretch. I’ll link it in the next story and the notes. . 🔥 Those tight leg muscles that carry you all day? The calves. Look at them, massage them, appreciate them. Thoughtful Thursday - Valslides Lunges⁣ ⁣ Let’s slide into some dope glutes and legs with today’s thoughtful exercise.⁣ ⁣ Have you ever tried a reverse lunge with a valslide as shown here? ⁣ ⁣ I love using these as a teaching tool to good lunge mechanics, as you are not able to put too much stress/effort in the back leg. Rather, you are forced to maintain stability, and strength through the plant leg throughout this movement (which is the way i believe a reverse lunge should be!) Your quad and glute on the plant leg should be simmering by the end of this one.⁣ ⁣ Try these next time instead of whatever lunge variation you’ve been doing. Add weights by either holding DBs to your side, or in a goblet position. Make sure you hammer the technique before you go too heavy in weightload!⁣

HEALTHY EATING VS NUTRIENT DENSE⠀ —⠀ “I eat so healthy. I don’t know why I am not losing any weight.”⠀ —⠀ How many times have you said, or heard, this phrase? Probably too damn many. It is time to clarify this terminology. ⠀ —⠀ Healthy eating, or even the word healthy, is such a subjective term that we just use the word with reckless abandon. What is healthy for me, is not necessarily healthy for you. Stop using that word. ⠀ —⠀ Not to mention, those who typically focus on healthy eating focus on extreme eating styles that they cannot sustain and misunderstand the true principles of nutrition so they focus on the wrong things. ⠀ —⠀ To correct this mindset, start looking at foods as Nutrient Dense. That is a defined term. The food is either high, or low, in nutrients. That’s all. BUILDING A ROUTINE 🗓⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I can't stress enough the benefits of building a routine with your training and nutrition. While this can sometimes prove difficult, particularly if you don't have a very routine lifestyle, it's still absolutely possible 😃⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Planning is key when it comes to implementing routine 📝⁣⁣ The key is to break each task you want to fit into your week down into manageable chunks 👌⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Where can you definitely fit exercise into your week?⁣⁣ While you should aim for 4 workouts a week, if you can only find 1 or 2 slots to start that's better than nothing. Start with those 1 or 2 sessions and if this is working then try to fit in 1 or 2 more. You'll be amazed at how much easier it will be to find the time if you build up a routine with it and then add more as you go! 🤸‍♀️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The same applies for food planning or prepping. Break it into chunks. Perhaps start by looking at your snacks and simply swap a sweet treat for some fruit. Easy, simple and effective! Then perhaps do some batch cooking at the weekend or simply plan to cook or buy a healthier breakfast. Focus on changing one meal at a time and build this meal into your routine. That way it becomes just another part of your day! 🍛⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Your routine doesn't have to be regimented for you to be able to implement it. Even if you don't work 9-5 Monday-Friday, you can still make changes and stick to them. I never eat meals at the same time, my schedule can change daily and I work long, unsociable hours so I plan my week accordingly - food planning on Friday's, followed by some batch cooking on Sunday's. While the rest of my time can look different week to week, I make these tasks non-negotiable 🙅🏻‍♀️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The most important element is finding a plan of action that works with your schedule and implementing it to achieve your goals. Mid week post because maybe it will help my accountability and help me from slipping. Social media is fucking with me still though. . My brain is still basically on fire, Idk the word to use. I've been feeling more in line with my healthy habits and less tempted to emotionally eat or lay in bed all day, but the feelings are taking a long fucking time to fade so I need to be more strict with my routine . I took off, I worked out everyday, I got to relax at a wellness spa/gym club and the beach. I ate pretty decent so far with only going over calories Tuesday for tastees and SunChips but I also got a salad and didn't use all the dressing, I got one cocktail instead of a two or three, and made better choices than I usually do out to eat. I came back to work ready to focus and not slack off or waste my time putting off tasks I really need to do. The second half of this week is harder with more dinners and more friends but I'm gonna be focused every second of it aside from Friday night.
