“I’ve decided that in this life, I want to be defined by the things I love—not the things I hate, not the things I’m afraid of, or the things that haunt me in the middle of the night. Those things may be my struggles, but they are not my identity. I just think that...you are what you love.” —Taylor Swift

owning a style. Six years ago choosing the “sugar sugar look” kept me up at night. I knew I wanted it to be #modern... with a little bit of #fairytale glam. I wanted a strong brand color that would be considered a little loud... however, forever recognizable. I first started looking at jewel tones, the feelings they inspired and the mood they would set when clients walked in. Although I love those colors for my clothes and hydro flasks... ultimately it wasn’t right for SS™️. I found myself coming back to metallics. I have ALWAYS ADORED blending metallics... and knew they would always be considered timeless yet on trend and BOOM... I was onto something!⛓ Let’s talk SS™️ pink. Where did it come from?💕 I don’t even wear pink! Truth, I wanted a color that would be forever posh... not 1980’s hot pink... and not bubblegum pink. Our pink has a gray undertone in order to compliment the metallics throughout. Also, a little #funfact...by design you will only ever find ONE pink wall in all Sugar Sugars. Ultimately, finding a style that you will continue to love for years to come is the goal. Every time I walk into a Sugar Sugar it makes me smile and brings a little happiness to my day.✨ #girlboss #style #spadecor #proud

Here in Austria people don‘t only take care of their own garden. Amazing landscapes treated with love. I encountered huge mushrooms, wild rasperries, all kinds of wild flowers and amazingly soft fresh water right from the mountains. So for my first post I figured I should share my favorite author. @melaniedickerson123 has been my most favorite author for years now! She writes Christian fairytale based romances, and they’re amazing!!! They are all clean, with equal parts funny and sweet, and danger and suspense. 😍 I’ve read every single one of her books and am super excited for her up coming one, The Piper’s Pursuit. 😆 #favoriteauthor #melaniedickerson #fairytale #cleanromance #christianfiction

The traditional Japanese village Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nemba is more of a touristic place. However, it is rather enjoyable with calm and peaceful flow of life in it, providing an insight into traditional Japanese living architecture. One of the greatest things about this village, one that actually creates a feeling that the time has stopped there, is Fuji mountain overlooking the wooden houses. It is also the sun glaring watchfully, looking after this place, obviously caring about it a lot. Seeing Fuji with my own eyes was the experience I cannot yet comprehend. A real place, and yet not, with so many meanings attached, with such great and long-lasting impact on culture of many nations. A sacred mountain, once feared for its disastrous eruptions. An endless source of inspiration for the artists, poets and writers. The power of Fuji is almost palpable. It seems, the air around the mountain is wrapped in legends, for it floats in a special, rather ceremonial way, remaining friendly and attentive to all the visitors. It’s like a giant magnet one could hardly turn their back on. The magnet, the living legend, the epitome of power and poetic fluidity of life at the same time, the limitless source of inspiration. Fuji🗻

Don’t ever be afraid of being yourself. Don’t ever be afraid to admit your ignorance, lie or defeat. Things happen. We weren’t born perfect and we won’t die perfect either. We don’t even have to be perfect. Don’t ever be afraid of being (or seeming) weird. As far as I’m concerned, being weird pretty much encompasses being real, being an actual human being. Don’t be afraid of opening up. Indeed, that could hurt a lot, but in a long run life kills us all. And the ordeals one goes through only make a person stronger, shape them, catapulting forward. Don’t be afraid of not fitting into someone else’s image of yours, of not living up to anyone’s expectations. You don’t have to do all that. It’s your life and yours alone. Stay real. Don’t be afraid of making a mistake. There is no one right path in life and every “mistake” we make is a step of experience, which sometimes turns out to be one of the brightest and funniest moments of life. We don’t have much time in here. We don’t have enough time to go on pretending to be someone we are not or trying to please everyone. We all will end up as memories at some point, disappearing more and more as the time passes. All will be forgotten, us included. Thus Instead of worrying, Let yourself live.

What impressed and fascinated me most in Japanese culture was how much it is focused on the exact moment, how attentive it is to that “now”. For me, “now” itself is almost non-existent, being either Past or Foreseeable Future. What is more, every past memory and future goal are evaluated, analyzed and then placed somewhere inside my own head. I cannot recall any moment when I was entirely focused on the “now”-moment without that never-stopping roaring burden of thoughts on the background. Japanese, somehow, can do that (or so it seems according to what I’ve learned about the language and art). I sincerely adore that ability. I adore all those exceptionally poetic and extremely moment-attentive “untranslatable” Japanese words: Komorebi (sun filtering through the tree leaves), Yuugen (the oneness of all things), Ukiyo (floating world), boketto (gazing into the distance and the world without thinking)... I think, this is one of the things that would be helpful to learn from the Japanese culture. In the modern world, full of rush, the present is often under-appreciated.

I’ve been thinking for some time with which picture to start telling you about the trip across Japan which took place this May. You know, starting something is often regarded as a very serious thing, where you simply HAVE to put EVERYTHING right. Deliver hilarious jokes (always fail on that), describe things masterfully, tell stories captivatingly and use as many symbols as one could. All that in one picture and one text to go with it. Then I realized that there is no such thing as perfect start. You just do. Or spend eternity waiting for the right moment, mastering your start. And the start is probably the messiest thing in the entire process. Also, the most encouraging one. So I start. I have never been to Japan and never thought of visiting it until my best friend became a huge fan of it, always bringing me some tasty and unusual things from this country (personally, I am in love with Sakura latte, KitKat with white peach, Clear Coke and those rice buns with all sorts of things inside them, beans included). I knew close to nothing about this country and it seemed so different, like it was an entirely another planet. Fortunately (or not), we live in the era when close to everything could be googled. I did a vast research that included the fact that there is usually no Sakura blossoms left in Japan by the May. Well, that was one of those cases when research proved to be not entirely accurate. Imagine my surprise and delight when we saw Sakura blossoms near Fuji mountain! What I want to say with this picture is that miracles do happen. And, in my opinion, it is the best start possible.

This is how getting a degree looks like. That’s how I looked like after presenting my thesis to the board. The final day of my education. The day determining whether I would get a new degree. There was no posing in fancy dresses in front of roll-ups and smiling cheerfully. None of those celebrations in restaurants with eyes glimmering with pride either. None of those huge and crazy parties, often shown in the movies, too. In fact, this is a complete exhaustion, hardly leaving room for anything else. That exhaustion was so overwhelming, that I couldn’t even reach my bedroom or wash my hands or eat anything. I fell into this pillow of flowers, my bed of peonies, hoping to disperse in their enchanting smell. To become tiny particles of that smell and float at least for half of eternity. I stayed there because I couldn’t move anywhere myself. I had no power left to do so and I didn’t want to as well. I started working on my thesis when I was at high school. And this work, this research that lasted many years, was somehow suddenly evaluated and came to an end. Ripping a bandage in one swift motion is the only relatable analogy I could think of. I guess I knew that it was to happen. I wanted it to finally happen. But I never believed it would. Getting a degree isn’t something one could cheerfully fill their spare time with. It is full of hard work with rare flickers of fun. It is full of passion and doubts, based on questioning. It is fueled by sleepless nights, tons of read books and articles brewing inside one’s head and, if you are lucky, awesome classmates. It is a life-changing experience, which sometimes leaves a giant void once it’s over. Also It is a great adventure. 🌸

We all choose what to feel. We all choose which parts of reality to keep in our minds and hearts and which to let go. We choose what to remember. And that’s the Prague I want to remember. Vltava River flowing peacefully. Tall majestic buildings savoring the last sunlight of a day. Crispy air and soft wind caressing the rebellious locks of hair. All that in my most favorite time of the day: sunset. This is also the last picture of Prague that I am to share in my feed. Since my gram is closest to the travel blog (imo at least), here are main Prague TRAVEL TIPS: 🔹Bring comfortable shoes and a jacket. Be ready for lots of walking and freezing nights. 🔹Bring some cash. Cards aren’t accepted in a great deal of places and the commission in local ATMs is pretty high. 🔹If you want to visit St. Vitus Cathedral (a.k.a. the most fam Prague sightseeing), keep in mind that without ticket you may enter it but may not wander. I recommend buying a route-B ticket as 1. It is the cheapest one 2. The equally awesome and less known Basilica of St. George is included. 🔹Strongly recommend joining a free walking sightseeing tour at the first day in Prague. This way, you will get to know the city. And if you like the tour, you are very welcome to tip your guide. 🔹I also recommend spending the first evening in Wikipedia, reading about Prague. This way, you will know more about the city and will have an idea what you want to see or to do. 🔹My fav places: Memorial to the Victims of Communism, Kafka’s Head, Spanish Synagogue, Basilica of st. George, Charles Bridge. That’s it. Bye Prague. Maybe I will meet you again someday.
